We weep over the news that Amex Small Business Saturday is dead, learn of more hits on the Hilton HHonors category changes page, learn a few tricks for bank retention calls, we do not like the changes in the Cathay Pacific Marco Polo program (see a pattern here?), yawn at the new Best Western, visit New Mexico, Congo and get ridiculed for using a selfie spoon…WTF!!!
And of course…more!

Trying something new to save some time. The link to the article will now appear in the name of the blog. For the miles/points related blog posts at least.
This blog yesterday had its first income from ads ever! Media.net finally sent a payment of $100.07 to my account. I almost fell off my chair! Almost a year of ads, how pathetic is that! Because I got a lot of grief for doing things to generate clicks I am going to donate a multiple of this income to my favorite charity (Doctors Without Borders) and will take the media.net ads off. Why? I absolutely despise ads of crap all over the page of something I am reading. Don’t get me started on videos that start automatically or horrific newsletter signup pop up forms. Grrrr. Thank you for the support.
Amex is killing the Small Business Saturday credits, boooooooooooooo! Saw it first at Frequent Miler. It just continues the long gradual decline of Amex in our hobby. So sad!
Loyalty Lobby has all the so frequent now theyneverstop changes mostly increases in the Hilton HHonors Awards categories. Let the constant boos go booooooo!
Travel With Grant has some good retention related tips from his recent bank calls. And we all learn that “the JP Morgan Chase reps can do anything and everything”. That made me laugh!
MileCards has the details on some changes in the features (no foreign transaction fees) and benefits (all negative) on the Citi Business AAdvantage card.
Loyalty Lobby has the details on all the changes in the Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club changes. Not that it matters to me and the vast majority of you but it is just another nail in the coffin. As LL states: “…Cathay Pacific is following a trend among frequent flyer programs to reward those the most who pay the largest amount of money on their tickets while reducing the benefits for those passengers on cheap tickets.”
USA Today publishes the Best Western introduction of a new name, logo and boutique hotel brand. You bet your ass that this will gather more publicity if its rewards credit card had affiliate links!
USA Today with the devastating news that Amtrak will now charge bag fees. What is so surprising is that they have not done so up to this point!
I preempted the Titans about the news at Frequent Business Traveler of the news that ANA will introduce a Lexus Transfer program at Tokyo Haneda.
Just look at all of the above. It’s just a hit after another. It has been like this for a while. When will it all end?
The ultimate New Mexico road trip itinerary. Looks great to me!
How much to tip at hotels In college I delivered pizzas so I know how awesome a good tip feels! I like to tip very well in general!
Visiting a volcano in a former war zone. In the Democratic Republic of Congo. I think I’ll skip this for a while, great story though!
Is he selling you a stock? Or a big fat lie? How to tell a financial adviser from a scam artist. Great article, lets send all the scam artists to ISIS!

WTF, a selfie spoon! How more ridiculous can this get??
And I leave with this…

Well, I am not surprised at all…some Amex exec got tired of reading all the scores by scores of bloggers on SBS!
Bloggers killing deals again lol

Weird. I post a comment and it doesn’t show up. So I do it again, and both show up? Two “first” posts in the same day… I’m buying a lotto ticket! #baskingintheglory

I am calling it a “projectx” day today! If only your comments today were cc apps lol

Your comment reminded me of my all-female dorm many moons ago (pun intended)…I had it on good authority that there was much competition amongst the pizza delivery guys to bring us our orders, even though they knew there’d be no extra financial remuneration involved. As poor college students we didn’t have much money for a gratuity, so we got quite creative about how to reward the lucky fellow. Even though no money was exchanged for the tip (or bodily fluids, hey!), there was an art to the deal and all were pleased.

Sound so exciting. There was one lady who used to order all the time from our store. She was a big tipper and was probably loving it to wear, uhum, cough, revealing outfits…we almost came to fistfights who would deliver to her so we settled down on an orderly system to take our turns. Oh, those were the days lol

That pic of Kauai reminded me of my AWESOME kayak trip in August with my teens. 17 miles of coastline glory. It was AWESOME!
Did I mention it was AWESOME?

MMS is transitioning into a self-help guru
Last night I was given the opportunity to see the moon and reflect on the lessons it was trying to give. This is the main point: “It is best not to force or push anything in your life. Reflect on and consider what is the best course of action in a way that serves your individual needs, yet is also fair and considerate of your relationships. We can use our own power to disempower and manipulate others, or we can use it to empower ourselves in an equal way. This really emphasizes the need to be reflective and flow with what is being presented to you in order to make the right choices and changes in your life. It is about moving forward in new ways that serve the evolution of our soul.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
You know, I DID read that on Twitter and I had the same exact thoughts! Must be working on evolving on the next phase of MMS. There must be some money in it I guess.
I still remember the email asking “should I add affiliate links, take my survey”…what a bunch of manure!

The discussion today called to mind a pizza place here in Boulder which offers a “Buddhist Pizza”.
It is one with everything.
