Now going back to my free breakfast at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, what a nice property…Going to miss Platinum FPC so much I am crying.

When my folks took me to St Louis to start college in the early 90s they stayed at a Drury Inn and the old man belonged to their program – I recall he had to stay at one for a work conferences previously. They stayed there whenever they came out to move me back and forth for summer break. IIRC it was pretty simple at the time, 10 stays or nights (forget which) for a free night. We have a lone Drury Inn here in the Dayton area…haven’t stayed in one for 20 years though.

My first participation in a loyalty program was Southwest Rapid Rewards in the 90s. Flew them all the time. You had a physical card to track flights and the GA had to put a little stamp on it for each flight segment. Once you filled up the spaces you either had to go to the airport or mail it in (or maybe both options were available – can’t recall?) to redeem.
