I’ve been here for one reason and one reason only and I’m sure you know it. Your demeaning and degrading comments about other bloggers. Pretending to hide behind the “critic” ruse’. You think you are better than others but your hypocrisy over the years has shown that to be a fallacy. Your lack of readership after five years has reinforced its only the angriest that follow your crap (other than late last nights meaningful discussion on addiction).

When you treat others with respect or at least learn to keep your low self esteem thoughts and anger issues to yourself, you’ll never hear from me again. Grow up and shut up. If you can say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Got it punk?

I think that most people view addiction as a self created problem. Its really hard to convince ppl to have their insurance rates go up XX% because someone took illegal drugs or abused perscription drugs. Most are ok with chipping in something. In my experience few wanna really dig into the problem and shoulder the resources needed to dent/reduce drug addiction.

Let’s split at 7.5%? 🙂

I get along with Republican clients just fine, they are good people. As long as we don’t get into the extreme left and right…I think we can work together for the common good.

I ‘ve lost my dear first cousin to drugs, he was more like my little brother, we grew up together, our families lived next door. 18 years gone by, still hurts as much as it did when I got that phone call. Still boggles the mind this happened to us. Goes to show you the pure devastation and distraction drugs can bring to anyone…I could go on but…need to schedule tomorrow’s post man.

@ Mileage Update: I think it is money well spent. Because the blowback can be more devastating due to crime and medical help. So, the other day, I was at Starbucks and I see manager calling 911 “it happened again”, here comes EMS, they break into bathroom and bring out on stretcher the guy you see at the corner with a sign asking for money for. Totally laid out, overdose I guess or just passed out. Off they go to hospital with sirens blazing…Who pays? I think we do. I could go on but…

@ABC: Great points on pharma and docs! I am not sure they give a shit about this problem, it was all campaign talk, like draining the swamp my ass. But they won’t pull a Duerte…I hope 🙂

It starts by limiting Pharma’s control over the market. The opiod crisis is a classical example of how sponsoring the right docs can promote the use of oxycodone and opiods.
Stating in medical journals that there was very little risk to become addicted was morally wrong and NOT based on solid science. This type of marketing resulted in general acceptance of opiods in the medical community in the US. In other countries, government agencies had greater control over prescription guidelines and especially making sure that medical doctors can not be bought by pharma companies. In those countries you don’t see an opiod crisis.
I can only hope that Trump delivers on his promises related to the fentanyl and opiod crisis. Unfortunately I did not see anything in NIH’s budget dedicated to this crisis.
It’s sad to see many of the same marketing techniques applied in some South American countries.

addiction treatment is expensive stuff. I think everyone is on the same thread of “lets get people the help they need” but if it means doubling everyones insurance pmts its gonna be a huge turnoff to most. Hell they cant get most young people to pay in right now. Not sure how it works if the price tag keeps going up at double digit inflation.
