The IHG downfall is the latest sign that the ‘hobby’ can’t sustain expanding to everyone. Facebook pages scoop in members like a fishing net catches minnows, and Chase/IHG decide that giving out $300++ per night hotel rooms for $49 gets them a lot of members who never buy a hotel room. C’est moi.

I’m not into Air BnB, but there are a lot of smaller hotels in most places that are quite good with prices that don’t build in all the crap I never use. And I’ll have 2x$49 plus 2x$75 to help pay for them after I dump the IHG and Hyatt cards.

Do Chase cards I cancel lower the 5/24 bar?

As for the stock market & Trump: What did you expect?

Yeah, the IHG cards are becoming irrelevant. I am canceling wife’s card soon. And I need to figure out if I should keep mine.

We blew our IHG nights in the Miami Kimpton Surfcomber. DO NOT DO THE SAME MISTAKE!

Maybe it is time to go all apartments/AirBNB way with hotels in the future, sad!

Too bad about the Surpass restriction.

IHG card will now be limited to 40,000 point equivalents, too, per the mailing I got today. Starting with certs issued 5/1/18.

I’ve been backing off expending effort on hotel loyalty for awhile, and that trend is going to continue.

Well, how would it make you feel when this happens Monday morning:

Mailchimp informed me that my monthly fee for sending out the blog posts to subscriber list goes from $10 to $15 per month

and

then Amazon tells me I lost $6.88 because of returns

On a more positive note, I canned Business Insider from my Feedly list which was BY FAR the most active feed, we are talking like 300 posts per day!

Other than that, GO BLUE tonight!
