I was once at a reputable seafood restaurant in NYC (which happens to be on the Amex Sync list) and my friend found a full blown metal hook in his grilled octopus. He found the hook when it was in his mouth – but thankfully he hadn’t bitten down on it yet.

I know there’s a joke there about the fish being so fresh it had a hook in it, but in reality it was terrifying. Needless to say, I have not returned to that restaurant, even with the $20 statement credit offered by Amex.

Bone in shrimp…sounds terrifying to me!

Your comments about being an Ameriprise customer are well taken. I am very careful about these issues, and often stay away from deals others flock to. I didn’t feel I was crossing the line with this credit card application — but I agree — each person should carefully consider what their own limits are and be true to themselves.

Your allergy to shrimp reminded me of when I was in Côte d’Ivoire and found a bone in my shrimp.

Maybe I am pretending to be one and in a slick way keep pumping my readers to make money off of them showing them how to fly for free in first class, eating caviar, drinking Krug, taking showers on board, being driven in limousines in airports, enjoying suite upgrades in fancy pants hotels and all kinds of stuff like that 🙂
