If it’s about funding, there was plenty of funding to develop a diagnostic assay. No cuts in thIs section of the CDC. Sure the buck stops with Trump.

“Neiman Marcus to file for bankruptcy as soon as this week” it’s starting....
And there goes one reliable AMEX offer partner. Liquidate your GCs ASAP!

The “CDC did not manufacture its test consistent with its own protocol,” the FDA told The Post.

Late February the CDC turned to an outside contractor to manufacture the remaining kits it had intended to make for public health labs

“I was just saddened and embarrassed when this test didn’t work out,’’ said James Le Duc, a virologist and former CDC official who now is director of the Galveston National Laboratory in Texas. “It’s really a terrible black mark on the CDC, and the impact was devastating to the country.’’

I agree with James.

As I have said here before, the CDC is fully to blame for their failure to develop a diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2. If you violate standard laboratory procedures you lose your license to develop and launch clinical test. Let’s hope that happens soon. And the CDC must lose their license + fees. Heads should roll. Complete scientific incompetence.

@ DML: It won't be the last time the loyalty programs save the airlines. I am not sure the miles sales changes the incentives to devalue. We may find out what is in the contracts but definitely do not bet on it.

@ Josh: Indeed. I have been thinking about that article ever since I read it...

@ ABC: You have been predicting it for 25 years? Sounds like those doom experts who have been screaming to Buy Gold for ages and that "this time is different". When you stick something long enough you may prove right one day :) Many freshmen who have accepted college slots for the Fall may not be able to go because their parents could not afford it. The smaller liberal arts colleges, in combination with the huge drop in foreign students who pay A LOT more tuition...does not bode well. We see what happens...time always tells.

@Oliver2002: I did not. For many reasons...

@TBBFanClub: Thanks for the laugh. Can you imagine if Obama tweeted that shit out?

@ABC: I saw that...As time goes on I am starting to believe that this virus has been here much much earlier and many more have had it.

@Peteco: Yes, that AA award change hurts...But considering what is going around in the world most of us ignored it. I haven't rented a car in months :)

@ The masked poster: I think they both did and I linked to them, see previous blog posts. I don't miss much around here...

First 17 days of April, just 1 cc conversion...This gig does not even cover the costs anymore.

Just started playing the song "The End" by The Doors...

Have Hyatt and IHG announced any formal extensions of their free nights? I've read of some who received short extensions by phoning, but has there been any formal announcement?

Excellent links George.
Couple thoughts:

The change in AA always changes is disastrous. It was THE best things about AAs awards. I don’t care at all about everything else they announced.

Waiting for National to extend expiration of free days

Hyatt should lower the qualification thresholds. If there’s 3 months out of 12 when you just cannot travel, reduce the threshold by 25%.
