Your personal finance fix of the day: A Gift From God. Love the last paragraph: “The more research I do into market history, the more I realize that all bets are off, especially when you’re talking about a twelve-month period. It’s scary to come to this realization but the fact of the matter is we have no idea what the future holds. While it’s true that stocks have been higher three years after a 52-week low 86% of the time, there is simply no way of knowing if we’re currently in the 14%. Because of the permanent uncertainty in markets, it’s so important to have an investment plan in place. Market returns are beyond our control, but having an answer to all environments, even if that answer doesn’t immediately yield positive returns, is a very liberating feeling.”

Writers there just collect their paychecks and stay silent while this horrific pumping display goes on and on and on…sellsellsell! Don’t miss them in person at the Chicago Seminars!

Didn’t Marriott CEO Sorenson also say less than a year ago that Marriott is not interested in acquiring Starwood? I agree with your assessment, George. I think SPG members will be screwed.

George, I may never be a first 🙂 but I love the AFAR posts and when you post anything about best Bars…with all the bad news in the “Game” (not hobby what are we 12 years old here ) it is good to read a blog (when you are not negative) that makes me smile and enjoy the ride…
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I have gotten more grief about the AFAR posts than anything else, including what you call “negative” 🙂
I have the Ignored blogs in a List on Twitter…and I see these tweets and can’t help myself. I see this as PSA…because it is about education. Someone has to save the newbies!
You can be first…why not? #neversettleto2ndlikeNickPFD 🙂

The AirBNB post looked like a commercial (which I’m sure it is). I was excited, but those places didn’t seem too interesting.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yeah, not going to debate it…Saw that a few minutes later after I inserted the post about the IHG London properties and thought it would be a great addition to it because the prices were certainly attractive. Thanks for the feedback. I need to be careful about stuff coming from “Business Insider” more!

I actually saw that and I started mentally preparing questions….and then I caught myself “WTF are you doing?” so I stopped and went on with my day…

A testimonial here, and no I am not a professional actor.
When I first started reading up on this subject, I came across a website/blogger offering a $500 “bootcamp”, which would surely put any newbie into the frequent flyer fast lane. Then I got a little curious as to whether it was really worth it, and whether the information might be available through other avenues.
Thank goodness I stumbled on this blog. Whatever happened to that bootcamp guy?

That’s Travis from Extra Pack of Peanuts, who is referred to around here as “the Ginsu knives salesman.”
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I haven’t been back there to his blog for a very long time. It seemed he moved on from miles which was likely a good move considering how few now have Chase direct affiliate links. He went on all podcasty and even took him off the Blogs To Ignore list…
Wish him the best. Interesting guy, appears very nice, never met him personally. He put a lot of work into this, that’s for sure.
