The Chase Ink Plus 70k offer was everywhere in the blogosphere. And I mean everywhere. So much selling it rivals the height of the crack dealing epidemic in the 80s! Brace yourselves, hard edged satire is about to be unleashed! You see the mission below, we LIVE it!
TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order
You can support TBB by clicking/forwarding any of our Referral Links and starting your online shopping at our Amazon affiliate link . Or click on the Amazon Banner on the right, thank YOU!
What else can you say about yet another mega affiliate credit card link orgy? Even the grief support group people that sits next to my table every Tuesday morning at Panera talked about it! I think I need me a new pair of eye sockets after the latest “click my Chase link” barrage. You are a reader of all these popular blogs and yet you are attacked again and again with the same old arguments why you need to have the Chase Ink Plus business credit card! I mean, you must be able to recite every reason by heart now! Do you call this behavior respectful toward you? Why are you supporting these businesses that pummel you to death with affiliate links of the same credit cards for the same reasons over and over and over? Are you a masochist? And why do you give money to go to conferences to listen to the same old stuff they blog about over and over? Maybe YOU are the problem (this is directed to any new TBB readers only!). Don’t be a Tool, THINK! Took a pic of this crap in my Feedly and here it is (click on the pic for a better view). Which headline is the most ridiculous one? I know, I know…so tough to pick JUST one!
By the way, this is the link to the direct offer for the 70k Chase Ink Plus credit card. Or you can help any bloggers in the Love and Like lists if you like. Thanks to the readers who wanted to give me the 10k referral but for some reason I am shut out of the referrals, boo! And yes I need to get my act together like Chris Elliott who joined Boarding Area to cash in too! Maybe when I get over my mental block, my therapist is on it! Hurryyyyy!

Let me end this Blog Buzz with a post at The Gate titled “The Credit Card Affiliate Links Controversy” which laid it all out and had some interesting comments. Among them, it was this one by ODTravel which perfectly sums up the situation and the way I feel (and I believe most of us who know what’s going on feel). So, here it is and THANKS to ODTravel!
Brian, I’m glad you are getting in on this convo. Not that anything would change. Its pretty disgusting the way bloggers are pimping links these days. I read TBB for catharsis. I need it. Its gotten to the point where bloggers come up with fake posts with no content at all solely to push links! Sometimes 2 paragraphs with something bordering on idiocy like “Can you transfer capital one miles to singapore”-reader question and then the barrage of links follows.
I mean TPG didn’t mention the 80K IHG until readers called him out but pushed his links, the UA explorer 50K thing was incredibly bad! These bloggers didn’t bother to publicize the better non-affiliate offer. Gary linked to a commenter as his way of acknowledging the offer but had direct application links everywhere-same with mommy points, OMAAT etc. Delta points didn’t push any AMEX products for ever until he got his referral links back. The list goes on an on….its terrible.
I’m ok with bloggers making money. What I hate is the fake travel blogging….while the real intent is to convert applications! You can see through it from space! “Three reasons why I’m adding authorized users” REALLY??? BAM-CLICK MY LINKS!!! Now that’s what drives people like me…and TBB crazy.
I mean, what else can you add to this cluster *&^%$? “(we) …can see through it from space!” So, excuse me Mr. Frugal Credit Card Guy and the rest of you plastic dealers. Just enjoy the money
Of course your relentless pumping practices to shove credit cards to everyone who visits your site has absolutely nothing to do with contributing to this.
Consumer Debt Hits an All-Time High
You just need to be responsible (enter FREE screams in the background). Yep, sure, aha, whatever makes you feel better. Hell No We Won’t Buy From You! Crap, that rhymed when I first came up with it. Whatever! Time to wrap up this baby. Hope you laughed, I sure did. I saved the best laughs for last! Mine anyway! Yeah baby!, yeah!
Okay…one more

In all seriousness, I HATE bad pillows in a hotel room.
Grant says
I would guess that the people in charge of buying the pillows at the hotels have never used the pillows in their hotels. Why is it so hard to find the Goldilocks zone (not too hard and not to soft)?
MilesMath says
I feel bad for all the suckers who signed up for the 60K Ink offers a few months back when the bloggers were falling over themselves to tell us to hurry and sign up for those offers. Really BA (except for a few blogs) should just be replaced by a website listing the current offer and typical offer for every credit card. You don’t need 20 different people writing content to tell me about the same offer.

What would we do without hard-hitting journalism getting to the bottom of issues like this?
AZTravelGuy says
I can still remember hearing Daraius and Gleff discussing credit card affiliate links years ago at the second Chicago Seminars. You know, the one where inflated ego FTG went around trying to get people to share stories for Nightline. Such a stupid idea, except for the affiliate marketers of course.
Anyway, Daraius was stupidly excited about making money from his links. Gleff had initially resisted but said, “Somebody might as well take the money. I decided it could be me.” The response from Daraius when I asked if content would be biased towards paying links was along the lines of an emphatic no. That’s obviously a lie.

@ Tiff: Yes I saw it. Good post but it was late in the day and post was already full. Sorry no rhyme how we roll around here!
@ Vinay: It sure does 😉
@ Scott and Grant: Yes it sucks a little bit. But out of all outrages in the traveling world did that warranty a hotel review almost full of it? Sounded worse than not getting served a predeparture drink in First Class or something 🙂
@ MilesMath: Yeah, excellent point. To all suckers who got the 60k offers, deluge these salesmen and ask them for a 10k pts refund because they made you “hurryyyyy” to apply. Yeah right, sure they will. So don’t use their links then. Fair trade 🙂 I wish it was just 20!
@ Sam: “getting to the bottom of issues” LOL
@ AZTravelGuy: I remember…I was there! I think the mother in law “angle” was a lie too!
@ ABC: Yep

No orders at all the past two days. I turn it up and this happens…not very encouraging…I mean, I can’t even get a small coffee per day out of my site busting my eye sockets every day…If this is not insane….I don’t know what is 🙂

We were all waiting for Chase Freedom [insert affiliate link] 5% back at Amazon to start today…
Jeanne says
Oh wait, if it is 5% cash back, that’s like FREE! I should buy more things through George’s links.

I totally forgot about the Freedom 5%, I am going to use this to sell sell sell my Amazon link. Actually I am so behind right now it is not funny…Thanks Jeanne!

“This technique–which dies today–makes the Arrival Plus also the best all-around card for business and first class redemptions”
Uh no MileValue that’s incorrect. What you were trying to say was that it’s “the best all-around card for business and first class redemptions among the 3 credit cards that pay me affiliate commission”
LOL best card for first class. Well if you live in a United hub and are willing to splurge for United F I guess. Otherwise, just another piece that whoringly pimps out douchy advice to readers
TravelBloggerBuzz says
That blog is in a “class” all by itself. I stopped shaking my head with what shows up there!
harvson3 says
Thank goodness so many people decided to get into blogging. Without them, newbies would have to spend hours and hours browsing FT to find a deal like the 70K offer that’s been available for months. (Of course, walking into a branch and requesting the deal may require you to have an actual business beyond “selling on eBay.”)
On an unrelated point, I was prepared to roll my eyes at this review of the Singapore Suites. Instead, I actually enjoyed that review. I think the difference between that review and a review from unnamed bloggers is actual joie de vivre. Ninety percent of us who finally book award seats up front aren’t thinking “it was fine; just another business/first class flight but the nuts were cold and I didn’t see the purser enough,” There’s still an element of wonder, which seems to be missing among many
bank affiliate marketersbloggers.Jeanne says
Loved that post about Singapore

F/A D'Ramsey Unchained with today's GLEFF award to Miles From Blighty says
If you wonder why F/A’s seem to hate passengers with an attitude, please read this by a blogger riding in F/C. http://milesfromblighty.boardingarea.com/2014/10/01/usairways-drives-nuts/
…..BTW Blighty, the disabled pax was put in your aisle seat so the F/A could help lift them out to carry them to the Lav. Before they put portable wheelchairs onboard I would literally have to carry a paralyzed pax on my back to the lav and help them do their business. What a dick this Blighty guy is, and I thought Gleff was bad.
To TWA44 hope you are feeling better, I can bring you some of my Medical Marijuana to help you get through the pain. Hack My Trip has pix of TWA JFK terminal today.

I think that’s the first trip report that actually made me want to fly first. Before multiplying the number of miles and dollars by 4 and deciding more trips would be more fun… Thanks!

Oops I meant the Singapore post.
Steve says
Good to see that for 1 day at least, someone other than GLEFF won the GLEFF award
Wondering who would win the award on a given today was so predictable, I might as well have been guessing who would be on the cover of this months O magazine

If there was an actual Gleff award, what do you think it would look like? (I’m teeing it up here for someone to hit out of the park)

I appreciate the comments of course you guys…
but this baby is coming up on Anniversary 2 and it is probably time to refocus elsewhere because I just can’t be like these mega pumpers pummeling readers non stop…This Gary dude has been on fire, so Chase-y!
MilesMath says
We’ll see if any of the bloggers let their readers know they can now redeem their travel packages with a 20% transfer bonus to AA now that they are no longer pumping the Marriott 70K and RC 140K sign up bonuses. Personally, I’d keep some of my RC bonus and instead buy 50,000 AA miles for ~$0.01 each through this promo, but that’s just me.

All the hype with Ink Plus card however few people talkng about the demise of the Ink Bold. Better to get the Ink Bold before it goes away even with lower offer as Ink Plus offers might even be bigger in the future with this as Chase Main Business card…
But then what do I know, I just read TBB for the photos 😉

I think the Ink Plus pays bloggers more, lots more 😉
