For the record, on Twitter, today’s posts will be tweeted out with either a “New Post” or “Latest Post” in front. Past Buzz posts will be tweeted with the posting date in front. Trip report posts will be tweeted out as is as doing them sucks the life out of me. These are tweets that happen at the top of the hour. Regular readers please ignore them. I don’t do SEO stuff, no mailing lists, no Facebook, no Instagram pages yet. Twitter gets most of my traffic from new readers who search there. Thanks for understanding. I listen to feedback.
And sometimes I go off on Twitter when the BS gets too much or see something that just turns me off. Such as:
Breaking: Reporting from my local Panera—>I have never seen the Tuesday morning Grief Support group laugh so much, WTF is going on!
What a bunch of shit! They could care less if u buy miles & points as long as some buy the credit cards they so expertly slide in the posts!
And I leave you with this…
Blogging can be insanely time consuming sometimes. Help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $$ links. Thank you.

Don’t kill yourself over the twitter stuff, George. One of the exact same folks who raked us over the coals for tweeting old posts made a relevant comment on a year old post the very next day.

Hey Sam, let the ladies win π
@Dia: Really? I just scheduled the tweets on top of the hour for today. I look at the Stats in WordPress and this blog consistently gets twice or sometimes three times the traffic from Twitter than Google searches….I should learn more about this SEO stuff one day. I guess cross self linking to death until readers are blue in the face works π I just prefer to link to stuff that will entertain, teach and once in a while inspire π Now I go back to laughing at that YoMoma tweet picture π
You all have a great day.

I pay a kid in Sri Lanka $20/month to do them for me. Found him on Fiverr. I have a running google doc of evergreen posts we share- currently at 268- that cycles through every 2 weeks or so. Easily 50% of my traffic is from twitter. A post about Osaka’s metro from July got got RTed on a Family Travel network.
Write for you. If you write for the $$, you’ll go insane. Take a break when it gets too much. I cut it way back this summer and am so glad I did. Leana said something that’s stuck with me “don’t get so busy documenting your life that you forget to live it!”
There is exactly one ticket left for sale to FT4RL Oct 24th…see you there?

I heard about Fiverr but did not look into it too closely. My problem is I am not good delegating…because I am a control freak. Definitely my next challenge to…let loose a little bit π
Really funny how that poster ended up commenting in a year old post!
I write for my readers π This is not a commercial operation, it is a labor of love and a bit of a strong addiction. I am shocked I am still at it almost 3 years later. What bothers me is seeing no click days because I put equal effort at this, I do not mail it in.
Yeah that miles for middle class families never left the scene, I think the “I am done” farewell post was to distract and get rid of me.
I am at a conference those dates in October. I thought about Travel Con…but I just can not justify taking so much time off. Unless it is in my backyard. I like the smaller gatherings the best, you learn more and socialize better. FTUs and Chicago Seminars make me yawn π
