The latest Hyatt hotels promo absolutely blows and do NOT link your AA & US frequent flyer accounts now!

Just a quick post today because real life gets in the way. Or I am just totally disgusted about the non stop pumping being done for the 50k Southwest cards that “suddenly” came back on the sites of all these “expert” travel bloggers infesting my hobby…
I must admit I was excited when I read One Mile At A Time saying that the latest Hyatt promotion would be “one of their best”. We all know these Titan bloggers are in bed with Hyatt and, naturally, I was hoping it would be! It has been soooo long since Hyatt had a meaningful promotion! Well, you wanna know what I got? I can get 2,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points in my next eligible stay! Wow, just wow! Oh Lord, if this is one of their best promotions I can’t wait to see what would be one of their worst promotions! Maybe they take away 2,000 points from MY account in my next eligible stay? So, for crying out loud, this is a warning not to listen to clued in expert bloggers! In case you want to see your “best” offer, click HERE to register. I declare this the worst hotel promo of this quarter, even worse than Starwood’s Double Suck promo!
I also see many “expert” (so many out there!) travel bloggers who encourage readers to link their American Airlines AAdvantage and US Airways Dividend Miles frequent flyer accounts. I am NOT doing it and you should not do it too! Why? I see no reason to do it so soon! We have some months to go before the accounts are fully merged. There is a good chance we may get thrown some miles our way to do this later. As you can not transfer between them I see absolutely no reason to do this so please stop listening to crappy advice!
I have so much material for Blog Buzz it’s absolutely ridiculous! I hope I get to it today for our mutual entertainment (after my own torture for going through it all!).
Just got my latest US Airways card and charged a coffee at Panera, hello another 50,000 miles!
And I leave you with this terrifying gif…

I think you are stretching a little bit on attacking the bloggers for suggesting it is a good idea to link your accounts. To say that it is bad advice to do it now because AA/US might throw some miles our way is a bit of a stretch. Remember who their audience is, there is a good chance that a large portion of their audience may forget to do it if not reminded, and better to do it now that procrastinate and possibly forget.
Too Nashty says
Who cares if you forget? You will still be able to get at those US Air miles if you forget, they aren’t going to disappear even post merger.
I think the Southwest/AirTran template is spot on here. I earned several rounds of 600 points from SW by merging accounts only when they offered a bonus.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I stand by what I wrote. This is not a hotel promo you should register because you may forget. We have months to go and there will be MANY more reminders to merge the accounts so what is the rush??
Mr Nice says
Ha! Just tried to register for thebHyatt promo and got “this gold passport account is not eligible” WTF???
I’m w George, there is NO reason to link accounts until AFTER we can transfer between them…
Scott says
Except that AA/US doesn’t plan on allowing transferring between accounts. They are just going to merge accounts in the second quarter.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I am with George too!

Southwest Cards for 50k is in TBB’s Page 3 after you click the creditcards dot bomb link or banner!
Right below it is “Webster Bank Visa”…please AVOID this one!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Thanks!
Webster Bank Visa…LOL
Hua says
I linked my accounts… Maybe should have waited, but oh well. Hey George, did you open your most recent DM MasterCard while having one open?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I did not have another US Air card open. Approved online, $15k credit line. Barclays Bank likes me.
Brian Cohen says
I received the same offer from Hyatt as you, George — and I am happy with it.
Think about it: I only need to stay once and I get 2,000 Gold Passport points. Easy. Straightforward. No commitment.
I had that same promotion this past fall as well…
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I was expecting “one of their best” promos. I just wanted to show how some bloggers should shut up before they blog about stuff like that 🙂

TPG has a new look. It now a bit more ‘bloggy’ and a bit less ‘magaziney’. Interesting list of ‘Friends of TPG’ (ie blogroll) at the bottom!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
The Friends of TPG listed are:
Friends of TPG:
Award Wallet
Delta Points
Frugal Travel Guy
Matthew at Upgrd.com
Million Mile Secrets
Mommy Points
One Mile At a Time
View From The Wing
I don’t know what to make of this list…Have they been bought by Bankrate? Were these links approved by Bankrate, why would they include links to competition?
Maybe Jason Steele can clue us in because it is common knowledge 🙂
Thanks for the heads up.
Blog Buzz coming Sunday at midnight EST.
