Excellent post explaining the Thank You Rewards program because it has some ridiculously complex features.
I like flying Southwest because they make it so easy to fly them and they treat you right. You can check bags, you can change/cancel without punitive fees, staff seem to enjoy working for the airline and you can keep checking when there is a sale and save even more dinero!
The headline we all don’t want to see but we know it is for real: Why 2016 Will Be a Terrible Year for Earning Frequent Flyer Miles.
An interview of American Airlines CEO Doug Parker (known as Dougie among formerly entitled elites lol) over at Cranky Flier. I think he is doing a fantastic job for the shareholders and everyone at the company. Just not us #sosad
Another batch of the most inspiring travel photos at Matador Network last week. Always inspiring!
A Dozen Things I have Learned about Investing and Money from Groucho Marx – This is a long read on personal finance stuff and has several brilliant points!
Planes crossing the moon! Words do not begin to describe…only your clicks. Lol!
Beautiful wedding dresses from around the world. Very beautiful indeed!
And I leave you with this…
Okay, maybe you did not like that so here is another one…
I am staying at the Four Points by Sheraton Studio City for 18,000 SPG for 5 nights. The conference is at the Marriot in World Drive with a ridiculous “conference” rate, no thanks. I usually get an upgrade in the top floor as I have stayed here almost every other year as this conference alternates between Orlando and San Diego. Sadly, I did not because the hotel is overrun by Brazilians, hey I thought they had a recession over there! I got a nice room, the staff are very friendly here. But the hotel was sold last week and something happened with the liquor license and to my horror the bar is closed and no alcohol. Very sad as I really liked the staff at the bar. Ok, I got me the daily activity fee waived this way, works for me.
Renting a car with Thrifty through Autoslash, weekly rate for $161 all in. I got me a “Wild Car” for the first time, meaning they pick any car Compact or higher. I was hoping for a Ferrari but sadly I ended up with a Toyota Corolla, oh well.
Check out the latest and highest Hilton card offer and always read the terms with this company, ya just never know what you will find in them!
Don’t expect me much around here in the next three days, it is going to be three days of learning new stuff, meeting new people, checking out new tech, eating and drinking, and stuff like that. Unless you go nuts on my links and then I feel guilty I let you all down hehe.
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

Ramsey says
@Nick…Sir, are you implying that the banana as a metaphor of George (TBB tirelessly working to stop greed) and the reporter represents BIG MOUTH TITANS who will stop and nothing to get their sales pitch out? Well played Sir!
Ramsey says
@Nick…Sir I see in your second Gif presentation a representation of a Titan who has just done a TV broadcast or major media interview running to the bank with so much loot from his efforts he cannot carry it all….Bravo, again well done!
Ramsey says
almost forgot HT KUMAR, Watzup Bluecat

I know you’re overloaded and it must be especially tough having no access to booze in the hotel, however the title should read 2016 not 2015.
Nick- it miss those mint days. Sorta- I don’t miss lugging them to the bank.

I fixed the year, thanks.
Ooops, did not realize the Skift article was linking to what is becoming the Kardashian of miles lately, my bad. I am going to donate all Amazon revenue to the Wounded Warriors ok?
Love these gifs. Oh yeah those were the days making deposits, whole lot of beautiful structuring 🙂
Made it to the gym this morning…hope it happens again before I leave.

Thanks for linking to my SWA post, George. Living near SFO/OAK, a large majority of my flights are on SWA and they have always treated me right. If you are lazy and forget to check in at exactly 24 hours, the $12.50 Early Bird Checkin is actually a pretty good deal, assuming you booked a very cheap ticket. Usually you end up with A15-A45, which guarantees you will get a very good seat. Have fun at your conference.
Patrick says
Better that you linked to Grant’s article instead of that other clickbait of an article of the same topic from a few days ago, I think, from someone with a gang, group, team, party, band, troop, posse, something.

a) It’s summer vacation time for them, and fazendo Disney (“doing Disney”) is a popular getaway.
b) There is a recession, and quite possibly a depression soon.* That’s why they’re staying at the Four Points, and not on-property.
* Defined as an economic contraction for >2 years.
Andy Shuman says
The Skift article has the right title but idiotic premise.
“Airlines needed a strategy to ensure the elite perks go to the travelers who literally earn them — not who know how to best game the system.”?
And: “But if general economy passengers want their cut, they’re going to have to pay up.”
No one is stupid enough to pay the full economy fare for an occasional upgrade. Airlines are ripping off business, and it WILL backfire at some point.
And revenue models won’t stop us from gaming the system. We’ll persevere. 🙂
Have fun in Orlando!
Andy Shuman says
Meant “reaping off businesses”.

The points guy has a web tv show. It’s covered by Skift. pretty much sums up what we’ve come to.
“Premium, niche content that finds a passionate and engaged audience can be extremely valuable to marketers,” Chad Mumm, VP, Creative Director of Vox Media tells me. “TPG is a brand whose very editorial premise seems friendly to endemic and integrated/native advertising.”

I am in a boring conf session so I used my phone and just read that and…had to excuse myself to barf!

Chad’s got a point under all that word lipstick. TPG’s native advertising, aka posts written solely to pump shit, is indeed endemic to his editorial premise.
