A nice array of interesting pictures and thoughts to start the new year.
Happy 2021 everyone.
Back to work:
-Looks like Red Ventures’ first step with Lonely Planet is to pump out old articles. Fair enough-for $50 million, we’d probably do the same.
Does step two exist?
-Lots of my COVID-inspired spending bonuses expired yesterday, and my cash back cards are saying “Happy New Year-yes!”. Have you checked yours-sometimes momentum will chop you up.
-So we gave vaccines to 2.8 million by Dec 31, not the 20 million projected just a few weeks ago. Is this really the same country that pulled off D Day?

Hey Buzz-
You’re a financial whiz and I have a question.
Senator McConnell says we shouldn’t send $2,000 checks to people who don’t need the money. So why are we sending $600 checks to people who don’t need the money?
Sam says
I’ll look to you, as I am sure you’ve taken good notes on all 5,000+ pages. So answer my question, professor-Or are you just new year’s trolling?
Meet the new boss……

Good morning!
Happy New Year. Good gif!

Woot! No more 2020! This is the year where things get BETTER as the year goes by. Happy New Year, George! And the same to everyone here. It’s gonna be great!

I have a post worth a Buzz medal coming out on Monday. Another 2020 annual list post coming out next Wednesday. After that, we shall see.
I have a gazillion things to do as these two weeks mark my busiest in my day job. Thank God for it because this one paid just 16 cents all day yesterday lol. So thank you all for commenting and hope this new year brings you what you want.
Ok, I am going to do my best to stop whining in 2021. And not be so bashful with my cc referral links.
Good to see the money landing with people who need it . Oh yeah…all of them who don’t need it…are collateral damage in a sense. Ours…, sad lol.
20 days for sanity to return…tic tac tic toc…boom?

Got to love DansDeals; VS devalues their award chart and DD ends the blog post with “ Want to earn Virgin Atlantic miles?” and ~20 CC links.
Always be closing!
Dan says
Yes, they devalued DL J awards that were a unicorn to find anyway. I’ve never seen them at all on many routes.
But if you read the post you would see that it’s now one of the best ways to book DL short-haul and infant tickets on DL metal, as well as long-haul DL in Y. That’s even more valuable than ever given that BA award space on AA getting harder to find.
Always be angry!
Happy 2021 folks. Let’s try to heal, shall we?
Sam says
I’ve flown DL J TATL using Virgin and cancelled another trip last year. Not a unicorn, but they were the high value nestled in Virgin.
I’m not angry, just a bit sad watching the value of all this slip away. But keep pumping, Dan. You offer good reading, and you always have a smart comeback. And you are far, far from the worst.
Happy 2021!

Can we all get along?
Not you Rams!
ABC says
Yes, I read the first 20% of the post. The rest was CC salesmanship. Most CC salesmen in the HOBBY simply stated the sad news, complain about the devaluations (75-175%) and moved on without leaving the reader with 20+ options to get more points. This just isn’t the moment to PUMP CCs. I understand that you want to start the year strong. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to exclaim 12 reasons why you love BoA’s VS CC! And that’s when you mention short-haul and infant tickets. As a reminder, the industry standard is to always lead with ANA F or J. But you do you. Let 2021 be a great year. Israel’s vaccination program is off to a great start. I wonder how IL got more doses per capita than any other country at this stage?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
>>>>>>>This just isn’t the moment to PUMP CCs…
He has kids to feed and meet payroll. Even with $ reductions per app, nothing pays better! If it was not for the plastic I say 95% of the blogs in this space will quit. Maybe even this one lol.
Israel’s vaccination program is impressive! I hope there are going to be some vaccines left to vaccinate the Palestinians in the occupied territories 🙂
Dan says
To be honest, I was surprised that every other blog post just parroted the same devaluation information without the significant improvements to short haul pricing in all cabins, infant awards, and long-haul coach pricing.
It reminded of when BA Avios launched in 2011 and the blogs all parroted the long-haul business devaluation when I reported that in fact, the program was now a short-haul gem. Some Avios luster has been lost after 2 subsequent devaluations and AA partner award blocking, but it’s still has its uses.
Bottom line for me personally is that I’m much more likely to use VS for DL awards than I was before.
And as Buzz said, when you’ve got 12 mouths to feed from one blog, it’s always the right time to sell plastic 🙂
Dan says
Actually, anyone in a DL hub should come out ahead with these changes. There are plenty of other programs that have good long-haul J values, including AF if you superficially want DL metal.
Should be a real boon for the buzzmeister.
TBBTheDude says
Looks like this is not the final word by Virgin Atlantic…
By the time we return to normal this airline may not even exist…
12 mouths???? How many kids you are going to have man, wow!
Dan says
More Europe changes, ho hum. Enjoy the new domestic bargains from DTW. Plus VS books into regular eco and not DL BE garbage.
I run DD with my kid bro, and after his 2020 hat trick and my 2020 addition we each have families of 6.
Then again we come from a family of 8, so who knows 😀
US vaccine efforts are a 1/10 so far. Need to hire some brains from Israel to get the ball rolling and get back to normal.

@ Sam: Yep, Rams was back with his usual crap. I killed his comments and one of them was your reply to you with “Meet the new boss” (winning), sorry about that.
Rams: Go comment on blogs you like, you are no longer welcome here. Your last comment before your ban was just a little too much for me…and I have been way too tolerant with your crazy shit. Oh, and stop supporting the LOSER!
Sam says
Buzz-
Ramses is harmless-and clueless. My comment on the COVID checks argued for sending them to people who need them, instead of just dumping them on everyone. I could understand not wanting to delay in March when we all worried that the whole economy was going to roll over. But they have had 9 months since then to figure out how to get the money where it’s needed.
So how did they do? Well, my transfer hit my account this morning.
And Ramses thinks that’s a liberal view.
smh.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I guess the Socialists would send $2,000 checks, thanks to the Republicans for holding out for responsible handling of the economy and minding the deficit…bwahahaha, sad!

Added to my daily duties: Deleting comments made by Rams…smh.
