ON MY MIND
I called Barclays Reconsideration line 866-408-4064 and talked with the nicest fellow who asked a few questions about my income and my job after confirming it was me…”You have done very well in handling your credit” he said, puts me on hold for a minute and then he approved me, “card will be in the mail shortly”. A few hours later I received the welcome email with the usual data (but NO mention of 35k signing bonus!). I had this card last year and canceled it back in November 2012 right after I received the 10k anniversary bonus (and before annual fee hit!). I went for the 35k offer…I am not going to sue about it:-)
So I am 3 out of 4 (personal AA Amex and Business AA card for 50k each were instatnly approved!). Only denial was the US Bank for the Club Carlson business card. It has been years since I was last denied! I will call on Monday and try to convince them I know how to handle credit very well:-)
I sensed that Barclays may be a lot more receptive to approving applicants now that it appears that Citibank will be the primary AA credit card!
I still have not received the 60k SPG points I won almost two months ago! They were sent to Starwood on January 15th! And there is still a pending change in my credit card from my last Starwood stay over two weeks ago. SPG told me to contact the accounting department at the hotel and when I call I can never leave a message. Massive SPG fail. Yeah, I like Hiltons better, this crap does not happen there!
There are some bloggers out there who are totally oblivious of the happenings with the US Air credit card offers! They just took two minutes to make a blog post to serve the affiliate link. That, dear readers, is just inexcusable!
Wife/daugher landed safely in Singapore. Wife’s email about the flights:
The A380 Singapore Airilnes flight was awesome! But the Newark to Zurich on United was awfully crappy because the entertainment broke, S____ was so disappointed, she read a book instead!
February 15 and still missing two 1099s, come on!
MILES/POINTS
In Delta’s official blog you will find this infographic (I think you must be logged into your google account to see it). Of course all the good stuff. Delta conveniently forgot to add 99.3% of Skymiles members never managed to redeem on the lower level before trying for hours and almost shooting themselves from the frustration!

Wow, ten bloggers! I wonder how many of the other 8 are Boarder Area refugees!

I am very curious why they are leaving the BA platform which has very high Alexa rankings. There must be some kind of shake-up going on at BA.

Why not? There are three great bloggers VFTW, OMAAT and frequent miler. In that environment it’s hard to get exposure, so why not try something on your own.

We will soon know, First2Board launches March 1.

Thanks for the mention! Love all the travel tips / news I’m finding here!

You are very welcome. From Nov 9 to Feb 9 I went at this little blog with full speed. Since then I have slowed down…way down. Still I like to keep it interesting/entertaining/educational and sometimes even inspiring! Like I said, I loved these pics from Vietnam. Love pics from daily life (getting a bit tired from all the pics I see from First Class seats, lounges, and suites) 🙂

That was quite funny!

I applied for the Club Carlson card too! I got the “pending decision” page and decided to call them up. The analyst told me that he can’t say for sure if the card is going to be approved or not because it’s still under review, but that there’s a good chance that it will!
I’m going to call them on Monday too. Fingers crossed. Good Luck with your call!
P.S- As a photography enthusiast, LOVE the stuff you’re posting!
TravelBlogger Buzz says
My denial came in a matter of several hours after the “pending decision” notice. No doubt in my mind it was due to excessive inquiries. If you have good credit record AND not many iqnuiries you may well be approved. As a matter of principle I must fight this:-)
I do not call myself a photography enthusiast…I just share what impresses the heck out of me!
And thanks for readign and commenting!

I just got an email telling me that I have been approved! So that’s good. I’m left with the Amex Hilton card that’s still pending review.
I think I got approved because I haven’t done an AOR in over 6 months.
Do let us know how it goes.

It was a no-go for me on ClubCarlson personal card but they gave me the biz card with $1000 limit (the transactions also take a while to post so it’s been a pain to hit the 2.5k spend).
US Bank seems to be pulling another agency to see how many aplications you have had (not your score). I was denied for personal because they said I have applied for at least six cards in the last six months and at least ten cards were applied for from the address I used (my parents address). No reconsideration, nothing.
Parents applied for one each personal after that and were denied for the same reason. Most of other six or so cards they applied for at the same time were instantly approved.
I have no idea how big churners are getting approved for ClubCalrson cards…
TravelBlogger Buzz says
There is no identifiable pattern with US Bank. I think the only pattern is that applicants with heavier recent app inquiries appear to have a higher likelihood of being denied. And certainly not all!
The last US Bank card I had was the Northwest card. After that this bank has just gotten even flakier!

@TBB reg: US BANK. Every time I get a card I get a no until I call. Your no is likely due to “Advance Resolution Services”. They check how many apps from your PHONE number.

You will need to ask them to get a human to review your great credit history, how just because you have many cards does not make you a bad credit risk as is shown by your great credit score and perfect payment history.
.
Clearly there can be many reasons for you to have separate spending on separate cards and they should approve you and look at more than just what ARS reports.
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Thanks for the info. Yes I need to pursue this and I will. I will not be denied:-)
Miles To The Wild says
I had the opposite result. US Bank seems to like me, I got the LifeMiles Visa in Oct and Club Carlson Visa in Jan (100 days later) both instant approvals with generous limits. On the contrary, Barclays denied the Wyndham Visa (I already am on my 2nd US Mastercard, didn’t want to push my luck)because I “already have sufficient credit”. I called recon, offered to swap the BW card (got for Grand Slam hits 2 years ago) and they wouldn’t hear of it. They remarked that I barely use the 2 cards I have. At that point, I gave up because of rumours they sometimes cancel your existing cards and I don’t want to lose the 10k anniversary bonus on the US card.

USBank, flakiest bank on the planet!

FTG needs to retire from his blog and give it to his kids
Their posts are far more interesting than his
I have yet to see a post from MileHighCanuck of any particularly high quality – most of his posts get 0 comments so I’m guessing I’m not alone
Also, he “values” UR points at 2.94 cents each, so he’s probably more interested in helping FTG get CSP and CIB affiliate clicks than being taken seriously as a mileage expert
