Man feeding Swans in Krakow, Poland as seen in Bored panda |
Look closely on the picture above, half of it is snow the man is standing on! What a shot indeed!
I am having a great time in San Diego reconnecting with colleagues and learning. I had to visit a mall and bought dress socks as I forgot to pack them…that was a first! Tomorrow I will have a post written by a guest blogger as I will be all day at the conference which ends with a private concert by…Pat Benatar! I had no idea she was still alive!
I have been very light on social media today as I am quite busy with the conference and catching up on work stuff before I let it snowball.
My dear readers, this has been a labor of love so far. And thanks to the one kind reader who completed the ebates requirement for my referral. Ebates added $5 to my account pronto. This blog has income now, woohoo! I could throw up here the referral link but I am lazy, I need to catch some sleep.
Thank you for reading!
MVP POST OF THE DAY
Ben gets mad and lays it all out in a very classy post. Wow, I did not realize the FlyerTalk thread link I posted last night had that effect! I have been reading Ben since day one too so I know who I am dealing with. I do not read him to get advice on which card to churn ok? I always enjoy reading him because the kid has that totally weird sense of humor which I find…super hilarious! I mean, you remember the sweater? And the pics of the wet towels and diet cokes of course. I actually thought his writing on the champagne was too funny, obviously someone missed the joke. But, let’s be honest, a new reader totally discovering Ben’s blog…after reading him for a while…he must have wondered what that dude on Flyer Talk did! Anyways, a whole lot of bandwidth for nada in my opinion. It is all about the niche and Ben has it…let’s not lose the focus now like some other bloggers! Where is Frank? Lol.
BEST OF MILES/POINTS
Comprehensive list of airline fees. From airfare watchdog
Ben of One Mile at a Time gives us a tour of Shangri-La in Singapore. Never been in one, likely never will.
Landlopers posted “In the Shadows – Photo Series” Just amazing pictures!!
Malaysia Airlines is now an official member of the OneWorld Alliance.
BEST OF TRAVEL
Surfer conquers record setting 100 foot wave. OMG, this wave is UNREAL!!
Johnny Jet‘s guest blogger Jennifer Dombrowski (who blogs at jdombstravels) stays at Anantara Kihavah Villa in Maldives. It is a sponsored stay and is diclosed at the end of the post. If it was me I would disclose it at the very top, lol.
The World’s most dangerous and safest countries. From Garfors.
NOT SO BEST OF
Million Mile Secrets admits to meeting the “team” at Chase.in San Fransisco. You know guys I can go on and on here. I need so much sleep as tomorrow I have another long day! Just a few notes: The $$ are too powerful to resist, I get it. Just do not expect non biased posts and I fully expect that Chase will intrude in the practices of the bloggers because…you know, they call the shots! Bloggers will comply because they do not want to kill the golden goose. So where were all the other bloggers? Does TPG have a private meeting with Chase? This post is here because I do not like banks and despise the word commissions and getting in bed with banks just feels dirty! But I do undertand the economics of the business model, I just wish there was another business model that could be almost as good (will likely never happen, especially on a part time basis, let’s not kid ourselves!).
The Points Guy tells us about the Delta SunTrust debit card & recounts the ways to pay taxes with it. I have seen this stuff before. Again. How about some original content for a change that does not involve your own trip reports? Thanks!
ODDZ & ENDZ
Talk about odd. Durex has started a condom deliver service in….Dubai!!! “If the company’s ad is accurate, your deliveryman might come disguised as a pizza guy, lost tourist, or cop.” You just can’t make this stuff up”

I believe TPG meets with Chase people at their offices in Manhattan at various times…….
TravelBlogger Buzz says
I think the Chase folks go to him;-)

I’m too lazy to go through today’s TPG excuse to pimp lots of CC’s – how long into the destination post before he bombards his readers with them?
TravelBlogger Buzz says
About 3/4 into the post:-)

I’m excited to see who you have lined up for tomorrow’s post
I hope your interns are better than TPG or FTG’s
TravelBlogger Buzz says
TBB can not afford interns. But if there is a student around Ann Arbor Michigan who is very blog savvy AND has available time please contact me!

You know how you can tell MMS had to dig deep into the scrap-heap to find someone to interview this week?
He usually starts off the post with something like “so and so traveled to all 7 continents by the age of 16 so i was excited for our chat” or “so and so once got upgraded to the cockpit on a LH A380 so I was….”
Today’s interview is just “TJ is a travel enthusiast, so…”
Oh, um ok…. that’s nice
TravelBlogger Buzz says
It is quite amazing to me to see all these new people fresh into this hobby who feel they have something to offer the blogoshpere of miles/points. As a veteran of this hobby…I am shaking my head. And I am not singling out this interviewee!!

Next time you see Lucky, ask him why he never flies United. It’s a not-so-classy answer.
@The Artist: I’m still waiting for Daraius to admit that he’s not excited to talk to someone.

@anonymous
Give it time, eventually he’ll run out of people to interview, and he’ll begrudgingly have no choice but to interview the last remaining travel blogger….. TBB!!!!
🙂
(Seriously MMS… I know you’re reading this. Can we get TBB on already?!?!?!)
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Let’s not go there on that UA thing…
For the record, MMS offered to interview me right after I started my blog. I respectfully declined at that time for various reasons. The two main reasons were that I was not sure the viability of my blog and I wanted to really make it fun and not boring by answering the same questions everyone else answers…
I believe the offer still stands…and I may do it one day. #developing

Hey George, just a small correction on that Johnny Jet article about the Maldives: It was written by my friend and fellow blogger: Jennifer Dombrowski, of JTomb’s travels. She is a guest writer for Johnny Jet. If I had to guess, I would say a majority of her stays are provided by the company and I am pretty sure she works very hard at getting these provided stays thru pitches. Just FYI.

Look deltapoints is spewing bs about chase sp is going to 30k. ewwww

His 80k skypesos post is far dumber
Basically a post that says if you go C one way and J the other, it’s 80K miles total (but of course words the title to make you believe the entire trip is in business)
Gee, thanks for letting us know
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Yep, it is in my queue…I would not be suprised if the CSP bonus went down to 30k. I think Chase has solidified its place at the top and finds no reason to be so generous any more, time will tell.

And then he went on today to spout an apology about recognizing a 70K offer – in reality, he is probably just using that as a way to get more people to sign up with his. No way he lets that original comment through if it would take away from people using his links.
