Delta continues to march in its own drum & other airlines continue to copy their moves. They are now changing the rules for domestic upgrades and will be bringing a new premium economy class. You can continue to whine all you want. Financial results are proving them right: give the perks to the top Elites because they pay more than you and everybody else shut up and enjoy flying a good product in the air. They will be the first airline that goes full blown revenue based in the redeeming side, you heard it here first. If it does not happen, so what? I never considered myself a travel thought leader and I am still getting most of these calls right đ
The new Starwood SPG promo “Triple Up” registration should be up sometime today HERE. Do it now! I am not going to spell it all out and pretend I am an expert. You read it, you stay, you earn points #wow.
If you followed me on Twitter, you would have seen days ago how to get an additional 10k Ultimate Rewards points if you had recently gotten the Ink business card. But in case you missed it, here it is again from Doctor of Credit (who is back from vacation!).
One of the most enjoyable letters written to TPG’s favorite bank. LOL! Bravo #respect
When bloggers scream to their clueless readers to buy Alaska Airlines miles because they are such a great deal because you can fly Emirates for free, you should know that perhaps devaluations are imminent and, most importantly, they make money off of you buying them as the links are affiliate points.com links. Some may have a generic disclosure up front because, you know, generic disclosures work best to get you to convert to real customers and them making money. Most hide the disclosures in places where you will never see them. BEWARE! DON’T BE A TOOL!
You would see this type of blog post a lot. Some will even have an hourly countdown. Just so you know. Yes, it is the same offer everywhere now, including here! I just added this line on purpose because I really enjoy looking at the haters’ reactions for adjusting my content to help conversions pumping my direct affiliate links. Okay, maybe I am a little obsessed, let’s get you some real eclectic stuff next. Don’t worry, no ADS for farmersonly.com here woohoo!
Enter to win 1 of 1,000 free Marriott nights. Hey, it’s Freeeeeeeeee! Bloggers could care less if you win one of them, they just found another opportunity to pump their Marriott credit cards. If you want more you can get the credit card too hehe. Okay, I may need help.
Skift does this kind of post frequently. Features five travel startups. Check out the latest batch. Check back in a year to see if any of these are still around. If anyone is using them & finds them REALLY useful please let us know. I guess I could make some money off this Kaligo one as I have seen other bloggers push it. But this is not my cup of tea. If I am going to recommend something it is going to be a good one because my name is on the line. And my name is precious. Okay, stop laughing you who know my real name lol.
Wonderful pictures of a Muslim wedding in Europe. From National Geographic.
A hilarious video with a flight attendant and a passenger. We have all been there in a way. “Turbulence“. Thanks to former FA Ramsey for bringing it to our attention again. Superb acting by the FA!
A fantastic read on personal finance, biases, real life, believing what you want and stuff like that. Must read. You are welcome: Don’t Get “Should” Mixed Up With “Is”. Just a few eclectic experts:
A really large-scale egalitarian society has never worked for a few interrelated reasons, chief among them that: groups donât have power, people have power (raising the question, who specifically decides how to allocate societyâs resources?); utopia doesnât scale; market forces provide very effective carrots, sticks, and signals that directed egalitarianism lacks, among other reasons. Reaching for extreme levelness in outcomes has always been deeply problematic and always will be, because thatâs how reality is constructed.
This happens in relationships all the time. Itâs almost an iron rule of life that marrying someone with the intent of changing them is not going to work. Who wants to be chiseled, molded, and nagged by their spouse? Whoâs really been successful at that? Most of us seek acceptance, and when we donât get it, we fight for our independence. Thatâs just human nature.
Start resolving to test yourself with the basic question: Do I believe this because I wish it was so, or because it actually is so? Have I acted in some way because I wish that action caused success, or because it actually does? If you canât tell the difference, itâs likely to be wishful. And if you simply donât know, then leave it at that: You donât know. Resolve to find out the truth as best you can.
2016 Winners of Sony Photograph Awards. Amazing. Even more amazing than the purchase protection on the CSP Card you guys, woohoo!
Fairy Tale Villages You Can Visit. Cheesy blogger question: “Which one is your favorite?”. Boooooring. Which one has a Hyatt? Lol.
And I leave you with this…

Nice collection of posts today, thank you. They do say Tuesday tends to be the most productive day of a typical Mon-Fri week, or was it an “atypical” week, I forget — not even sure if most work Mon-Fri anymore. Certainly, not in this hobby.
If amex churning relaxation rumors are true, well it just the way we planned it, slow 2016 turning into a busy 2017. This year has been all about Luxury Gold cards. đ
Cheers,
PedroNY

You are the eternal optimist of the hobby…
I am fearing Amex will be taken out and shot by the end of 2016 (as in bought/takenover/merged/swallowedup/shredded)…
Time will tell. I so hope you are right!

I think Berkshire Hathaway will increase its stake in AXP, they do like good value investing. Time will certainly tell.
P.S. new interface, I like it, easier to type, better fonts, messages post quicker.
Cheers,
PedroNY

When will Chase make a U-turn?
exoticfusion says
Thanks for the heads up on the match for Chase Ink buzz. I messaged them about an hour ago and received the 10K instantly, it’s already in my account. I was pretty shocked because I applied for that on 1/9/2016 and got approval about a week later. I’m well over the 90 days and still got the difference. I did attach the 2 images (found on Doc) of the offer with my secure message. Pretty happy about that. đ
On the new re-design, I like it, but I agree with others that it is hard to read. Maybe bold the font or make the background a little darker? The contrast between the text and the white/grayish background is a little too light for my eyes.
TBBBTheManHimself says
Sweet on the 10k! I am surprised you got it well over the 90 day window, wow.
More changes on the font & headings today. Hopefully it is a little better.
The size of the comment section will remain gargantuan though…oh well.
Thank you and all for the feedback!

Are bloggers running out of products to sell or is it that lucrative to sell airlines points ?
TBBBTheManHimself says
Yes, points.com pays handsomely from what I hear. Certainly a lot more than Amazon (and lots less than CSP of course!) hehe

Speaking of travel startups, a partner and I just launched our site, basically, a site to search for events that are going on when you’re traveling to different cities. We’re live in about 40 cities. I’d love to get feedback from the community here! Thanks.

Raj – nice site! Easy to use & good layout. I just found out my 3 days in London this summer will be filled with street shutdowns for a big 100 mile bike race. Guess it’s off to one of the 17 music festivals out of town that weekend…My only thought is you may want to look into a way to filter duplicate posts from different event sites. Other than that, very useful.
james says
…and George, I’m glad to see that it took your kid 2 volumes to finish the story. Perhaps a future blogger-in-training?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
It took me a minute to figure out what you were referring to. Because, you know, I am slow. When I got it finally….I smiled. Very well played Sir! #respect
Actually he has done one post about his trip to Northern Michigan. It was well liked actually.
Raj says
Thanks James. Glad it actually helped you with an actual trip! Sorry it’s bad news though.
Yes, we definitely need to remove duplicate posts. That’s something we’re actually actively working on.
Appreciate the feedback and enjoy your trip.
Raj says
Also, George, feel free to put the site in your next post if you’re feeling generous đ
At least I’m not pumping anything on the site!

You need to add Tokyo as I am going there next month.
I searched for events in NYC. Some interesting results.
Need to add music interest. As in concerts, etc.
Positive experience at first go.
Good luck searching for the dinero đ Once you find them, please tell them about me so they can buy me out so I can buy a house in the Hamptons as well. Woohoo!
Raj says
Thanks for the feedback. We had Tokyo initially but then couldn’t gather enough events to keep it on đ We’ll be working hard to add Asian and African cities.
We do let you filter by performing arts now (which includes concerts), but good feedback that music should be its own category. Thanks again!

I just came over to TBB from a link on Flyertalk, on the Brooklyn Reality Tour thread (in the community forum).
As usual, LAST??
editorial comment > I hate all the pimping. It (the bloggers) insults my intelligence.
Scott says
We are not their target audience. If one thing is abundantly clear they want to rope more and more noobs in to this game and ruin it for us in it for the long haul.
Last.
Raffles says
Like the new font.
Can you narrow the right margin? You don’t need it so wide, especially as you are not running ads in it.
300 wide is more than enough.
On mobile, you also get a lot of junk at the bottom. If I scroll down to the bottom to see the latest comments, I have to manually scroll back up quite a way to get to them. Try it on your iPhone and you’ll see what I mean.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yeah, I think the font issue was fixed.
Thanks for the feedback. I think I bothered the web design guy enough for this round. Will let this run for a week or so just to see what happens and may add your suggestions after that…
I think TPG is very afraid I may take them over now…lol.
