We have a state of disunion address about American AADisadvantage, Sun Country UFly program gets rocked, visit Petra and Asia Hidden Gems, go on the Tea Horse Road, learn more on how to get to Australia and New Zealand using Thank You points, watch John Oliver go on an epic rant against retirement plans & more!
TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
Thanks to the reader who got a Chase Sapphire Preferred card with my links, you were first this month! I swear The Points Guy is shaking from fear right at this moment. Lol.
What exactly is American’s AAdvantage? Must read post by DansDeals, he sums it up nicely. Now you watch credit card pumping bloggers speak badly of AA….waiting….zzzzzzz.
And the beatings continue unabated. Now we have another frequent flier program (Sun Country’s uFly) devaluing and this time we are going under 1 cent per mile. Like I said here.
In case you missed it: Chase Freedom to make spending at wholesale clubs 5% for the rest of the year. And you can get 500 points for following Marriott’s Instagram account.
Getting to Australia & New Zealand using Thank You Points.
Petra is still being discovered…
The Tea Horse Road. “It stretches over 1,000 miles from Chinaโs Sichuan province through Yunnanโs mountains and the Tibetan plateau up to Lhasa…” Wonderful! The pic of Lugu Lake is absolutely stunning!
Two years of travel in two minutes. Love this, well, 2 minute video!
14 Ways to Protect Your Home While on Vacation. Well, this sure is very timely as many of you are embarking on summer vacations. I should add the Art of Manliness blog to the Blogs I Like list but, you know, I move slow!
Instead of a personal finance blog post, how about a hilarious video by John Oliver beating up on Retirement Plans and just goes off on calling financial advisers, Congress and more! Ok, this is a lot longer than 2 minutes…but worth it!
Best hidden gems in Asia. Wow, I had never heard of most of these before. And some look absolutely…ok, trying to think of a word that I have not used before here that will be combined with diz ding called SEO or something. Oh yeah, got it, some of these places are…orgasmic ๐
And you thought that US was #1 in this too? Nope, look at them Canadians!
I decided to keep my beat up laptop, it looks like it has gone through a few tours in Iraq. But amazingly it keeps working as long as it is plugged in to a power outlet. No time to get a new one. In a way, I hope it doesn’t so I can have some peace ๐
And I leave you with this…
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

It was the British who figured out they could trade opium to China instead of tea and make much more money.

Up to Silver! That never happens… So where do the bloggers pump now that their beloved AA is copying Delta? Getting PQD or whatever they call it takes ca$h!!! Poor mileage runners… If that’s a thing anymore.
GringoLoco says
At least one of the “titans” seems to #pumppumppump the points/mileage sales with a “semi-disclosed” link that earns them a commission ($7/transaction or so I’ve heard). Buzz should get an affiliate link — I could actually use that and at least get him a medium cafe at Panera?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I am not up on this affiliate pumping shit….which are you referring to?
Getting a free coffee at Panera tomorrow, before I invade the Tokyo Conrad lounge woohoo!

Thoroughly entertained and educated by today’s links. John Oliver piece was priceless!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
He calls it out pretty good!
GringoLoco says
Argh — more Asia travel porn! I want to go see almost all of the “list of 16” but geez it takes forever to get there from here and there are rarely “good deals” on airfare. Hard to MS plastic I can’t get approved for from here! #thirdworldproblems of a #firstworldlifestyle…
Definitely entertained and educated today — #TBBon!

can’t wait to hear all about your Tokyo trip!!!
TBBTheDude says
Judging from the pace of my trip reports, expect it here sometime in 2019 ๐

I can wait you out. I’m still formulating my BRT overview for the thread on Flyertalk.
Oh, LAST. ๐

Signed up for Barclaycard Arrival+ with your link Buzz. Definitely going to keep this card for the miscellaneous fees (Airbnb, award taxes, etc) that I can’t deduct from other cards. ๐
TBBTheDude says
Thank you!
Yeah, this card comes in very handy. It just did this even better when it was for $25 instead of $100 minimum redemptions! Canceled wife’s, I will blow out my points with the Kuala Lumpur Doubletree charges and…will get it again sometime later this year or early 2017 and do it all over ๐
exoticfusion says
Hey no problem. I am wondering if that is going to change soon @keep getting it because the application for that card has been down for awhile. News and or rumor is they are changing the application process, however affiliate links and your links seem to bypass this, so I am glad I was able to get it.

Safe to say I’ll be last as I catch up on one of the Blogs I like.
Going to Petra, it’s cheaper when you do an overnight instead if a day trip. Petra at night is incredible. Bring comfortable shoes for the long walk in.

Speaking of pimping/pumping, my Community thread on the Brooklyn Reality Tour still has a link to TBB. #Shill #amazon #loyal2afault.
