First thing I thought of with the Amex post was (channeling Monty Python here) “Help! I’m being suppressed!!” Well we can see this viewpoint of theirs playing out with some of Amex’s latest moves I guess – remains to be seen whether any of their changes help accomplish their goal. Of course, Amex and the other banks are “gamers”, too in their own way.
I noticed it goes on to talk about reinvesting those savings in “higher quality acquisition offers and channels”. I assume “higher quality offers” refers to targeted offers but I wonder what “higher quality channels” would be?
Just the fact they are spending resources to address this….means to me we are no longer a rounding error. And that’s bad any way you look at it!
Must be a slow news day… no serious number of comments this late. TBB should spend 17.34$ on fake followers/bots. 🙂

TODAY’S TOPIC…ENGLAND Don’t get me wrong but I loved all of my trips to England. Not for the food, for sure, but I spoke their language pretty good (don’t mean to brag).
You could pretty easily get killed there crossing the street in London, I always looked the wrong way and almost stepped in front of a passing car often.

Looks like the accountants locked the marketing folks in the closet over at Amex. Going after ‘gamers’-that’s a short version of the banks’ mission statements.
Maybe this lasts until the next Board meeting. Amex is on a death spiral, with fat fees to merchants, and slim pickin’s for many cardholders. Yeah, some cardholders only charge bonus categories, but why else would you charge at all?
