It was a good day in the TBB headquarters. Amex gave me 4 times $15 to spend on Amazon gift cards and they picked up the tab. Also gave me another $5 to buy me a Venti sized coffee at Starbucks. I gladly accepted their generous offer. I even made my little run to two shopping establishments that are near me and made another $70 in less than 45 minutes. If I did not have this blog to entertain you all I would be making lot more but that’s okay. Thanks for all the support even though there has not been even one click on that credit card tab I installed in the past three days and got so much grief for it recently #sigh.

I just read MMS’s new Friday interview, and I am pretty sure I just heard the sound of a massive bubble popping. Putting aside the instinctive gag reflex that I get when I see someone trying to recreate a mash-up of Tom Cruise’s Risky Business Dress Style and Gordon Gekko, this guy has been collecting points since, wait for it… January 2014! [Insert massive eyeball roll here]

They say they flew to their wedding in style, and show a (stock) picture of Singapore Suites, when they fly flew United to the Caribbean, from Newark, so they were actually sitting in a glorified office chair on a 737. For a 4hr flight. And get this, they paid Standard rates for “First Class”, 70K each, one-way. 280K RT for domestic first! That flight probably cost ~$1K with cash.
I think we have a winner for worst travel hacker interviewee.

I just saw that too. As much as a RT business class to Asia. Says he bought $34,285 in gift cards so 171 $200 GCs at $6.95 a pop is $1,188. Plus costs to unload (says he used Venmo so at least some fees were paid). Call it $1,500 for two standard first class tickets plus Chase probably shutting you down, so you can round down to “free.”
I was impressed when he said he flew first class 6 times in 8 months. I didn’t realize it was domestic first class!
Every time I thought I had seen it all…I eat broccoli.
I am at the point that if I shake my head just a tiny bit more…it may fall off my body.

This is why I will prolly never MS. I don’t entirely understand it. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it.

OMG, it happened….Discovered this hobby in January of 2014? I am waiting for the inevitable: “I just spent 50,000 Delta Skymiles for a RT to Topeka, Kansas and decided to blog how to help my friends and family travel for free” blog interview….Reaching way deep into the depths, err, abyss. Unbelievable…they keep on coming!
I think that there are way too many post everywhere about AMEX Offers on the web everyday. It is easy content to write about but essentially it is just another coupon and there are tons of good coupon sites. BUT DANSDEALS yesterday posted a deal so good I could cry. Did all my Christmas shopping for the year using the LivingSocial/Sacksoff5thAve/stacking coupons deal he gave us. With a little creativity you can do it over and over again. It can easily be a moneymaker for those who chose. All I know Buzz is that my Trophy Wife, Mrs. Ramsey is going to think I spent a bundle on her at Saks, but it was just a few Shekels…………….THANK YOU Dan, I support your return to the Blogs I Like List here at TBB, you never left mine.

I’m on the Steve beat today, because I was dumb enough to chase George’s reference down the hole. Howie at FTG links to an article on chip & pin cards, blabs a bit, neglects to mention that you can actually sign up for and use one right now: the Arrival+ allows a PIN. (I too used it on the London Underground, like Joe at Saverocity.)
So, yes, George, they do sometimes post at FTG with information that doesn’t immediately line their pockets. However, they don’t necessarily give the best or even good advice.
Oh well. Caveat lector.
