Second, thanks for the links George. Guesses on who the new Amtrak card issuer might be? Citi or American Express would be the obvious choices as that would provide incremental revenue from the transfer of points as well. Would be a massive year for Citi if they were able to snag Amtrak, but I doubt they would have had time to put such a deal together with the Costco one (and a number of smaller retailer acquisitions like Brooks Brothers).
American Express would be keen to replace the Costco & JetBlue cards, but I just don’t see them grabbing the Amtrak card. Barclaycard might be keen to acquire something after US Airways, but I didn’t find any obvious job openings like I did for the JetBlue partnership.
Will be interesting to see what happens and if the choice transferability will stick around or not.

Citibank had time to detonate a nuclear bomb on the financial system. Surely they’ll have time to conquer the CC space. The government will be there to bail them out. Just like we did last time around with both Citi and AMEX.
