There was a lot of buzz (pun intended) about the DOT and its ruling on mistake fares. Sadly, some blog pumpers used it to sell more plastic to their readers which grossed me out. But of course you need to know what is going on and the best write up was the post by Cranky Flier.

Decommissioned. “Andreana Scanderbeg and Alexander Sauer travelled to a secluded airport in California’s Mojave Desert to realise their DECOMMISSIONED project.” Cool photos of murdered airplanes, so sad.
Cost obsessions around the world. This is awesome! What people around the world googled to find out what cost most often? In the US, it was “patents”, in Brazil it was “Prostitute”, in Argentina “coke”, in Mexico “tummy tuck”. This is entertainment folks!

I really enjoyed the “35 incredible unknown travel destinations”. I had no idea of the existence of synchronized lightning bugs. And I’m glad they included the Kalash people–they’re an outlier in that they’ve held on to some of the traditional Indo-European religion. It’s analagous to people in the modern-day Mediterranean still worshipping Zeus. Given current trends, who knows how much longer they’ll be able to hold on to their religion.
For anybody who’s interested in this stuff, scholars have tried to reconstruct the Proto-Indo-European religion that spawned, among other, the Greek, Norse, and Hindu pantheons:

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. I was born and raised next to Mt. Olympus. Zeus is all right 🙂

MMS does it again, posts to sign up for 5 Alaska Airlines at once. Anyone care to guess that this will finally get on that bank’s radar & get it killed? Don’t forget to get your tickets to see him live at FTU!!! U are the morons who patronize these enemies of our hobby by reading their crap, clicking their links and buying tickets to their presentations! IGNORE them! Friends dont let friends read MMS and the others on the TBB Ignore list!

But it’s ok when Frequent Miler does it for VS card? Where was your outrage when he was yapping about 4x VS cards?

But you do have a point.

So apparently there was a mistake fare to China. Great. So all those guys including
the bestest blogger fly there a few times for 1 or 2 days just to earn status so they can fly more
often to China for one day. Can someone explain me why this is “hot”?
It’s becoming so ridiculous I’m speechless. Flying for 20 or so hours every frickin day?!
How isn’t this becoming boring to death?
Rubbing you butt in a disgusting dirty seat full of germs and eating microwaved food
in a fresh 5% humidity recycled air cabin? What is wrong with people? What happened to
actual traveling, visiting places, learning other cultures? I guess they don’t feel any need for that…
ABC says
“What happened to actual traveling, visiting places, learning other cultures?”
Selling that kind of lifestyle is not as lucrative and takes longer time to cash out on.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Hey, there are all kinds of people out there. We don’t like the same things. Apparently that blogger found an audience who likes what he blogs about. Just not for me. Ignore.
Oliver2002 says
Think of it as earning status and miles which you then use to fly to exotic places? 😉
