We bring you examples of Amazon Prime Day greed, how to earn miles buying cars, eat Air France gum, visit Eritrea if you dare, see what drug overdoses do, visit Hitler’s huge resort being renovated, look at the airports in Argentina, how to sue banks and learn about bubbles, rip on Drop and Jetsmarter and lots of other stuff. Covfefe!
You can support TBB by applying for CREDIT CARDS, shopping with our AMAZON AFFILIATE LINK & clicking our REFERRAL LINKS. Thank you!
In case you may have missed it (joking), the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ MasterCard® credit card for 60,000 AA miles supposedly ends on July 13. The Business version of the card is also at 60,000 AA miles and somehow is not ending on the same day. Both cards are available with my links (insert imaginary red arrow). And that’s my sales job, thanks for supporting good blogging practices.
Yesterday it was Amazon Prime Day in case you were comatose. I tweeted this: Bloggers are beside themselves pushing their own Amazon affiliate links. GREEEED! U can earn 3 JetBlue miles PER $1. I did not see ONE blogger mention the Jet Blue miles offer to their readers, NOT EVEN ONE! Instead, I must have seen THOUSANDS of Amazon affiliate links. Greed at its finest at the expense of readers, just SICK! More on that below in the BLOG BUZZ section 🙂
Just in case you were thinking about buying a car and earning miles or points with it…
Did you apply for a Chase travel rewards credit card recently that then offered a higher signup bonus? You have to read and do this!
The new government in Argentina is offering hope, including in its beleaguered airline industry. Watch them, I think it is going to be exciting.
The Trump administration has not killed the CFPB yet. Which just made it easier to sue banks. I wish they would make it easier to sue deceptive blogs too 🙂
Last time I flew Air France was when Lufthansa had a pilot strike and they rebooked me on it. For free of course. Where am I going with this? Did you know Air France has its own gum? It comes in two flavors: pistachio-macaroon and crème brûlée. Check out the video ad for it! The stuff you learn at TBB…
Your personal finance fix of the day: Where’s the Next Bubble? A fantastic read about investment bubbles! If we could only identify them before hand…
Remember a while ago I posted about that 3 mile long resort built by Hitler? I had told you it is going to be redeveloped. Well, the redevelopment is under way. It is going to be transformed into a luxury getaway!
The problem is out of control: In one year, drug overdoses killed more Americans than the entire Vietnam War did.
Eritrea’s Asmara is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Some nice architecture and it should help tourism. But the government remains a basket case so this is your warning.
BLOG BUZZ

I think I may have been the only blogger out there who did not push you to sign up for Drop. I think it is because I had no integrity at all according to some troll lol. There is no way I am going to give a small Canadian company access to all my credit card information. Plus all the push that went down to attract bloggers with referral links just left a bad taste in my mouth. On Twitter I said something about “Drop dead Drop” or something similar. So, as expected, they are having some “issues”. So, good luck to all.
Amazing how this blogger had the time to hack my site and point this out. If anyone knows how to do the paypal donation as a text link to replace my Amazon link so I can then do what I do best (cut and paste!) I would gladly go ahead and replace the Amazon link my readers know all about what they are giving up because I tell them. Not like most bloggers who went wild pimping their Amazon links all day yesterday 24/7. That DansDeals site almost broke from the numerous blog posts, yikes! Nobody calls this shit out and then I get bloggers calling me on my hypocrisy to shell out justice. It is a phucked up space, what can I say? Messes with your head. Phuck it!
You know what I bought from Amazon yesterday? Absolutely nothing!
I also never pimped my Jetsmarter links. Never liked that company. It appears they are now billing some of you $12,000 for that “free” flight. Good luck resolving that mess.
That Mileage Plus Go Visa prepaid card you were all hopeful for it may lead to some “opportunities”. Forget about it. I agree with the answer to the question who should get this card: No one. Absolutely no one. The card is a bad deal. You should not get it.
I finally got to $100 redemption level (went for a Starbucks card) in my Amex Blue Cash card. When I receive it, it is time to close this card and free me an Amex slot. This card had a good life, I will miss it.
And I leave you with this…TBB worthy dunk!

Well, you didn’t make the full rounds then! My first post at the start of the Prime Day craziness was a reminder about the JetBlue points and I included that in each amazon post after that (right where I said I receive commission from the links above). Also, I also did not talk Drop so I guess you didn’t swing by yesterday. 🙂
With Amazon, it is actually pretty simple why many left JetBlue points on the table – it is easier to click through a link on a page than sign in another website. Most of my Amazon traffic came from search engines yesterday so those are likely people that really don’t care about earning 600 JetBlue points on their new suitcase!
I actually did work pretty hard to make up lists of items I thought would be of interest to my style of reader. It took a long time and of course I am thankful for any that clicked through.
But, I did make them aware the JetBlue deal existed and how to set it up.
TBBTheDude says
Ok, I admit I did not make the full rounds. The samples I took were all devastatingly B6 missing so I made a judgment 🙂
So, we have one blogger. The rest were out linking themselves non stop yesterday. Like pigs.
If I had a CSP click for every Amazon link I saw yesterday I could buy Boarding Area!
My beautiful eyes just hurt man!
Having said all that, I continue to do shit that goes against monetization “success”. Am I a moron? Is Ingy right? Are most readers sheep? Do you have to sell your soul to the devil to “succeed” in this perverted online blog space? Can good ethical guys ever be Titans? Stuff like that enters my brain while I am trying to enjoy black coffee….Not sure I can continue drinking coffee black…so tasteless. So unfair…so is life

George there were multiple bloggers who didnt push Drop and didnt post Amazon links. They are bad enough. You don’t need to make up facts. #DontBeLikeTrump

Multiple?

Me, for example, George.
I never once discussed Drop nor pushed Amazon affiliate links at The Gate for Prime Day — despite that The Gate is an affiliate of Amazon.

We can count on Charlie’s site to keep its integrity among the BA crowd at least!
I’m OK with you keeping your Amazon link George, as I have no use for B6 points, but maybe the Paypal idea would be better for you overall.
Drop always looked shady to me, or at least like it would be a pain in the ass to deal with.
TBBTheDude says
I am keeping it for my sister in law!
Yeah, Drop…is not going to end well me thinks…
MileageUpdate says
What?? are you saying it isnt a good bidness model to pay out $10 in rewards for a 1011.90 purchase and have me do it 10-15x a day? If Im at $150+ a day in rewards, whats a big fish like TBB at ?

Good luck 🙂

Apparently not. He is falling down on the job lately!
Thought about it and decided against it. I don’t like people who film others without their consent. Like that dude in the Maldives 🙂
You will know when I am in vacation when Buzzy type posts stop 🙂

The miles and points community looks really vulnerable to a fast moving variation on a Ponzi. Instead of new money paying old perhaps the new money pays commissions.
Class action against bloggers?

How easy would be to set up some sort of fake membership-style travel site and charge $50 for membership BUT with 10,000 miles as a bonus?
Offer bloggers $20 per sign up.
Disappear with the money, never the post the miles or pay the commission.
TBBTheDude says
There is a lawyer who posts at the Frequent Miler and have seen his posts elsewhere. He is positioning to be “the points lawyer’ or something like that. If he wants to make a name of himself he could sue a blogger instead and do us all the favor to change some of these shitty practices? But I guess not…
That PR lady at The Simple Dollar keeps emailing me to link to articles about travel hacking experts pushing their own affiliate links. Most moronic article I have ever read, omg. I finally told her to go do herself.
Bloggers will sell their mothers for a click. Rene will probably sell mother and wie too #joking #notreally
I need to take a bath…After personal trainer abuses me today. Pray for my bones!

Remember a few years ago on FT some dude was pimping his “Travel Hacking Cartel” or something like that. You paid to get basically the same info you can already find elsewhere delivered to you daily or weekly. Don’t recall the price. I guess if they really did deliver the info it wouldn’t be a total scam but sure as hell would be a waste of money.
Nick @ Personal Finance Digest says
I think that was Chris Guillebeau right?
TBBTheDude says
Yeah, that was the guy. Gary Leff is a big fan. He holds a conference titled Domination or something like that. He is an author too and big shot online. Amazingly, he is a travel hacker too and pumps credit cards when bank account needs some more money it appears…
This space is full of bozos.
I am too apparently…and I sabotage my own clicks on top of it! Call me Don Jr 🙂
StopTheLove says
I thought his name was Chris Dildo ?

I’ve followed that lawyer and emaied him once or twice. He looks pretty useful to me.
TBBTheDude says
I am not sure he picked a good niche…
But maybe I am wrong.
I am not a fan of his writing.

George that linked article of Prora is bull crap, you pretty much see it in the first few pictures, thats work of a simpleton, somewhat like VFTW’s clickbait or TPG’s ‘articles’. Case in point: the second picture shows a dutch map of 1920s Germany . The english version of the Prora wikipedia article is a much better. Prora was modeled on the British Butlin camps, that envisioned providing affordable vacations for the working class. Before that no one could afford to go anywhere, travelling on vacation was reserved for a chosen few. The KdF programme no only started this trend but also wanted to make car ownership affordable, setting up VW with the Beetle.
BTW Prora’s hostel is open since years, overnighting there costs only 25€/person.

In its current form, Trump care won’t help with all those drug overdoses. Perhaps they could at least focus on making sure insurance fraud ends.
“Drug users, desperate to break addictions to heroin or pain pills, are pawns in a sprawling national network of insurance fraud”

Speaking of douchebags and the United Prepaid card…
Live & Let’s Fly attempts to defend the card and, even more bizarrely, why he’s getting it. It’s as lame as you might expect – guessing it was just to draw the clicks. But Seth Miller’s retort in the comments is pretty good.
btw, those AF gums sound interesting…

Not sure if Kid Rock is serious….I think it is a PR stunt related to his music.
Then again if Trump can be President anything is possible in America!
I flew with Kid Rock years ago from Detroit to LAX years ago. Northwest First Class. Back when I was Platinum and got upgraded every time, I miss those days so much. He was a very nice guy, very quiet and polite. And no I did not bother him to take a selfie with me so I can not prove it damn it!
