Is it just me or has da internet slowed way down? In quality content that is. There were weekends where I had bookmarked enough material to last at least two to three days in the coming next week. As you will see below I hardly have enough to fill Monday! WTF is going on? It is what it is….
Here we go with what caught my attention…
Here is a comparison of Amex Platinum vs Chase Sapphire Reserve travel rewards credit cards. Also please be aware that the new Chase Ink Business Preferred credit cards is coming out shortly. I expect the regular Ink Plus 5x earn feature will go away some time next year. Please consider applying for these cards through a blogger you support and want to see him/her not give up.
Oh, for the 168th time, do NOT apply for the Amex Platinum card in my site as it only earns 40k Membership Rewards points. If your favorite blogger keeps trying to sell you this card for just 40k points, he/she puts his/her own wallet ahead of you! Tell him/her to shove it where the sun does not shine, there is NO excuse NOT to put readers first!
You should also consider to stop supporting bloggers who keep linking to these commercial enterprises who are more like bank sales representatives. And here is the Amex Platinum Mercedes Benz version thatΒ can earn you 50k Membership Rewards points. There is an Ameriprise version of this card out there earning 50k, ask them why they never mention it!
This is the second part of the “Are We Witnessing the Demise of Travel Hacking?” post. I really enjoyed both of these, they were right on!
A timeline of human population growth. Wow!
Probably one of the most gut wrenching things I have read recently: Craigslist confessional: “Every slight honk would bring me back to that day when our vehicle was blown feet into the airβ
Your personal finance fix: Why Your Portfolio Won’t Be Trumped. I am still having trouble dealing with the fact that the American people elected this guy as our President…”WTF have we done?”
Some awesome images from the Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards in the UK.
I am very slowly going through the pictures from my trip to Iran. Here is another gem:
I guess I am now a Best Western Diamond, Hertz Presidents Circle and Sixt Platinum. For free. Hopefully…some more lucrative matching opportunities open up down the road & I may actually use these…
And I leave you with this…

“Are We Witnessing the Demise…” posts were both good reads, food for thought. My thoughts are kind of similar. I gave up chasing status a couple of years ago – just not worth the time and hassle especially as work travel has been curtailed.
I’ve thought of getting back into MS’ing again – didn’t have patience to keep running around like that – but then why? I have better things to do with my free time.
I think the “game” is changing, but not dead, and will continue to evolve, probably in some ways we can’t predict. Eventually it may change to be more lucrative again, but whatever form it takes the key is staying educated and figuring out what best suits your own needs.
I like the good cash fares we’re seeing more of, as the article mentions. That has altered the calculation of how much to put into the mileage game as well.

Pathetic: Hillary Blames Her Loss on James Comey. Part of me is tempted to give her a pass on this for now. The woman just suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of the least-popular presidential nominee in modern American history, dealing a crushing blow to her lifelong quest for power. Coming to grips with just how deeply the American people detest you cannot be an enjoyable process, and such harsh realities undoubtedly trigger coping mechanisms. That is what’s going on here. That being said, even if you’re inclined to cut her a little bit of slack, this is pitiful and delusional spin.
Hillary Clinton blamed FBI director James Comey for her stunning defeat in Tuesday’s presidential election in a conference call with her top campaign funders on Saturday, according to two participants who were on the call…Clinton told her supporters on Saturday that her team had drafted a memo that looked at the changing opinion polls leading up to the election and that the letter from Comey proved to be a turning point. She said Comey’s decision to go public with the renewed examination of her email server had caused an erosion of support in the upper Midwest, according to three people familiar with the call…Comey sent a letter to Congress only days before the election announcing that he was reinstating an investigation into whether Clinton mishandled classified information when she used a private email server while secretary of state from 2009 to 2012. Comey announced a week later that he had reviewed emails and continued to believe she should not be prosecuted, but the political damage was already done. Clinton told donors that Trump was able to seize on both of Comey’s announcements and use them to attack her, according to two participants on the call.
Democrats assured us that Comey’s ‘treachery’ or whatever would only serve to motivate Clinton’s base down the home stretch. They later claimed that his reiteration of his decision not to recommend a criminal indictment two days before the election was vindication. In truth, scapegoating the FBI Director after the fact is a naked effort to deflect blame for a Hillary’s humiliating loss, which she earned all by herself. James Comey didn’t force her to set up an unsecure, rules-violating, national security-compromising email server. He didn’t make her ignore explicit warnings that she was putting sensitive material at risk. He didn’t make her wrongly withhold and attempt to destroy thousands of work-related emails. He didn’t compel her to lie about every element of the email scandal, over and over again. He didn’t tell Huma Abedin to fail to turn over a computer with previously unreviewed emails on it. All of those actions were taken by Mrs. Clinton and her team. In fact, Mr. Comey did Hillary a large favor by recommending against charges in the first place, even though he confirmed that her conduct was grossly negligent — while averting his eyes from clear evidence of intent.
Even if it’s true that the eleventh-hour renewed scrape with the FBI contributed to her loss (it surely did), it was merely one factor of many, including the Obamacare meltdown, ongoing questions about the Clinton Foundation, and voters’ overarching desire for change. Comey’s decision to briefly reopen an investigation in light of new evidence merely reminded voters of longstanding reasons they were planning to either vote against her, or sit at home: She is an historically untrustworthy and unlikeable political figure. A majority of voters held an unfavorable view of Clinton, and a super-majority saw her as dishonest. Those are fundamental flaws that no team of handsomely-compensated consultants or multimillion-dollar advertising blitz could overcome. And they certainly aren’t the fault of James Comey. If Hillary Clinton wants to face up to the real reasons she crashed and burned, she need not look any further than her own loathed status among the US electorate, and her team’s bad missteps.
TBBTheDude says
Agree that losing to Trump is pathetic…I mean, what else is worse? Losing to Peewee Herman perhaps?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the letter from Comey proved to be a turning point
Indeed it was. We all felt it. Something changed!
Pretty sad that a BS “scandal” contributed to her loss…excuse me…her loss in the Electoral College that is. Man, talk about elections being rigged or what!!!
>>>>>>>A majority of voters held an unfavorable view of Clinton, and a super-majority saw her as dishonest.
Last I heard, a majority of voters DID vote for her. For the record.
And oh yeah her and her team fucked up…I mean, losing to this moron is…just criminal π
NotMyPresident says
Um…you do realize that Hillary won the popular vote?
And that she won the popular vote more than either Kennedy or Nixon?
And that #notmypresident got fewer votes than Romney or McCain?
And if she’d gotten just a tiny bit more turnout (only about 125,000 more) in certain states then she’d have won electoral as well?
And that Dems got more votes than Reps in Senate races?
And that Dems picked up Senate seats?
Paid and volunteer supporters of #notmypresident are showing how uneducated and uninformed (…and nasty, and hateful) they are in comment sections everywhere! #Notmypresident won a squeaker of an election because of a ‘perfect storm’. Very few Americans voted and literally most of them didn’t want him to win!
The idea that Clinton “crashed and burned” is ludicrous. It’s exactly as wrong as thinking #notmypresident understands how our system of government works (he didn’t even realize that none of the West Wing staff would stay after the election–what a dummy!!).
Enjoy your razor-thin win due to the uniquely quirky (antiquated) Democratic voting system we still use.
And remember, most websites aren’t like breitbart where hate and nastiness thrive in the bubble and all replies are “me too!”

DEAL WITH IT, we win you lose, a generation or two of conservative Supreme Court Dominance is in store for you (Ruth Bader Ginsberg looks half dead already, Stephen Breyer looks as sickly as a Strict Vegan) .That Clarence Thomas looks fit doesn’t he? He eats Red MEAT and I think he works out a lot.
Don’t let the border crossing gate hit you in the ass on the way out. Take that guy Jeff Bezo’s and his Washington Post version of Pravda with you. Also take that big mouth foreigner John Oliver. He is not an American, he can’t even vote! he should go bother John Major or Arthur Treacher. English accents are good for infomercials but not for trying to ram down biased news down Real Americans throats! We are too smart for that!

Trump would of easily won the popular vote E A S I L Y !!! He even didn’t waste his time campaigning in California and New York ( for you foreigners out there, they are the 2 most populous states ) …. He will win by an even larger amount in 4 years when people see what a great job he has done cleaning up the country. Then it will be 8 years of Righteous Christian Conservative Politics under the GREAT Mike Pence. Evangelicals Rejoice, say Hallelujah my friends! Then it will be time for our First Female President, the ALWAYS HOT LOOKING BABE, Ivanka Trump.

Anything I share publicly gets slaughtered in minutes/hours/days. Things I dont talk about publicly are still working. Im sure this is correct for many others. What is the benefit of discussing publicly? Ive been around a long time FT and the likes since 2000-01. It used to be a place I shared and helped others. Once bloggers came along and stole that content and continued to out deals I disappeared from the radar. Like in any other business, Im not in the habit of giving away state secrets. Just doesnt make sense to shoot yourself in the foot. I want to tell others of deals (its my nature to help) but its not feasible any more and hasnt been for a while.
