ON MY MIND
Mr. Pickles gets yet another guest blogger to write for him, how does he do it?
Credit card affiliate links have been so ingrained in this space it is reaching unimaginable proportions! Even well respected bloggers are getting into this link fest more and more. I find it sad to watch. I have a simple question: Why can’t bloggers do the bank cheering/pumping the way Frequent Miler (focus on content, never adding an affiliate link at the body of the post, all affiliate links in its own tab) does it? Or even the way Million Mile Secrets does it with his up front disclosures at the top of each post (and not buried in tiny font at the bottom or, even worse, hidden in an obscure part of the website to satisfy the legal department) and always presenting the best offer out there? Why? Why? Why? Please judge them on the quality of their content AND their practices!
I think I may be done with all tax stuff by the end of the weekend, hooray! I may have some time to look into them juicy affiliate links myself then…lol.
This blog is like a little escape for me, a outlet for my commentary and creative energy. I am getting a little bored with it…I need to do something. Maybe I go buy a bank, that’s where the money is these days right? 🙂 I have two prospects after me and all I think about how that is going to affect me having enough time to update the blog! Maybe I need to see my therapist again, she totally understands me!
MILES/POINTS
Award Wallet balances went up by 210k miles/points hiya! It was a combination of AA & Club Carlson!
I am not going for the Barclay Arrival card, I need a (short) break.

Yes and the main blog pic is on March 9 Mauvoisin Dam, Switzerland (As seen at TwistedSifter blog) http://travelbloggerbuzz.com/2013/03/march-9-2013-mile-nerd-epic-rant-credit.html
Not shaping up as Summer of George.

I still find my jokes about affiliate links funny…to me. As long as I laugh I am okay with them:-) You guys laughing is just a bonus!
As far as the repeat pic goes…Well, you know those online errors you get sometimes Error 404. Well, this was definitely Error 1040 😉
MickeyW says
haha LOL @ Error 1040
Reminded me to do my taxes 😛

Can we get points for sending you our taxes to prepare next year, George? The UR mall is currently offering 10x points at H&R Block, and I’m sure you could beat that. Just don’t let us figure out your outrageous prices.

Good one harvson3. My prices are not that outrageous:-)

Your AwardWallet balance went up because of AA?
TravelBlogger Buzz says
At least one reader is paying attention! Well, I do have a worksheet that adds the AA, DL and UA miles to the totals and I do call the file “AwardWallet”

Just a typical Friday
TPG remind us of every single credit card that is Visa Signature
MMS talking to some person that he had to force himself to care about
MommyPoints will reach to put 15 SPG Amex links into a post that has little to do with it
Lucky will put up a trip report, which might or might not have CC links
The Miles Professor will comment on every single post by every single blogger in hopes somebody will notice her
DeltaPoints won’t have anything relevant to write about, so will make a throwaway post just to get the Delta link in
Nobody will talk about the Carlson cards because they “prefer aspirational travel”. No word about what type of aspirational travel they plan on buying with the Barclay Arrival card.

You should guest blog for me here! You know that you can cut and paste this review and use it again…and again:-)

Well, we just finished an aspirational trip to Australia and it included a stay at the Radisson Blu in Sydney. Great hotel! Short walk to harbor, short walk to Manly Beach ferry, short walk to bus to Bondi beach, short walk to harbor bridge/opera hall, etc… Used Club Carlson pts for 3 nights. Great staff. It wasn’t an over the water bungalow….but it was great! I intend to get both club Carlson cr cards during my next app …Next up is 3nts at the Radisson Blue Trocadero in Paris.. That stay will be 50k a nt.. Cost is 150k pts instead of 1100 euros…………….
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Get the Club Carslon card FIRST and then your 3 nights become just 100k points! Best darn card on the land. I wonder why it is not pushed by the bloggers as much as the Ink cards;-) Just prepare to deal with goofy US Bank…it ain’t Chase!

I think you have a very different definition of “aspirational” than the blogger. Aspirational is actually defined as “a card that gets me referral $$$”
That’s why all the bloggers will constantly remind you that if you spend 10K on your Hilton Card, you can get a free weekend night
But they’ll rarely remind you that the non-affiliate PC card gets you a free night at any Intercontinental in the world without spending 1 dollar

I gotta say, I do love the Club Carlson Card. That stay two nights and get one free saved me 50,000 points at the Radisson Blu in Sydney in July. I’m excited the anon had such a great stay there.
I’ve had great experiences at most of the Radisson Blu’s I’ve stayed at…

The point of the Hilton card vs the Priority Club and the free nights was…perfect!

Speaking of aspirational trips planned…
Last year, while I had South America on deck, I booked the JFK/TLV $337 flights. That was 2 big trips on deck. Well, we just returned from TLV, and now I have no trips planned. When I mentioned this to my wife, she said GOOD. How come I’m sad? :>)
I’d better find a new credit card (hard to do these days) so I can come up with a good ‘aspirational’ trip. George, maybe you can link me to a good offer on TBB. Cough cough.
