The Case for Booking Flights with Chase Sapphire Reserve Ultimate Rewards points. And it is a very good case indeed. Still CSRless here #sosad.
This has been a slow and steady trend in this space…The Rise of Bank Points.
Accor Hotels just keeps buying more companies in the sharing economy/alternative accommodations space. This time it is , Travel Keys, an Atlanta-based private vacation rental broker that has more than 5,000 villas worldwide. Yeah, I never heard of it either.
Uber’s new flat rate pricing. Check them out!
Yeah, another list. At this point I take a look out of curiosity. Best Hotels in America. And to shake my head…

I always enjoy meeting in person other hobbyists and blog readers of course. I am blown away by the dedication and extreme addiction by some of you 🙂
I was asked by a blog reader at the San Diego meetup: “What is the vision for your blog?”. I answered: “Make the next post”. And I mean it 100%!
Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego is just an amazing property! My suite was amazing, the grounds were amazing, the service was beyond amazing and my certs are always amazing. Freeeee and amazing. I am going to miss being Lifetime Platinum Presidents Club soooo much.
This post by MileCards.com telling us how to get to Europe burning AA miles (yeah, really!) was copied by View From the Wing with an HT way at the very bottom of the post and the always slow The Points Guy staff finally saw it and gave the HT to the View From the Wing. Idiots, they lose conversions this way but I hear passing links to big blogs is good for the SEO yeah?
Here is a very comprehensive look at all the Hilton Honors changes/devaluations if you wanted to learn more about them.
Chase 5/24 and additional user cards FAQ.
If you cared about lesser known hotel US domestic hotel chains (Drury, Sonesta, Red Lion and Vantage). You guessed it, I have never stayed in any of them. Maybe because their frequent guest programs suck?
And I leave you with this…

George, am I to understand you don’t have a vision statement for the blog? You need to hire some expensive consultants and take care of that ASAP.
Ryan says
George needs not only a Vision Statement but also a Mission Statement and a comprehensive strategic plan. Hmmm…I need to figure out how to be a consultant for crap like that lol
TBBTheDude says
I have a mission statement, it came to me when I was sitting at a toilet one day lol.
Not paying for consultants for the rest, no way!
Now going back to my free breakfast at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, what a nice property…Going to miss Platinum FPC so much I am crying.

Drury Inn – my first exposure to the concept of a frequency/loyalty program! When my folks took me to St Louis to start college in the early 90s they stayed at a Drury Inn and the old man belonged to their program – I recall he had to stay at one for a work conferences previously. They stayed there whenever they came out to move me back and forth for summer break. IIRC it was pretty simple at the time, 10 stays or nights (forget which) for a free night. We have a lone Drury Inn here in the Dayton area…haven’t stayed in one for 20 years though.
My first participation in a loyalty program was Southwest Rapid Rewards in the 90s. Flew them all the time. You had a physical card to track flights and the GA had to put a little stamp on it for each flight segment. Once you filled up the spaces you either had to go to the airport or mail it in (or maybe both options were available – can’t recall?) to redeem.
