Heads up: If you have the Chase Amtrak Guest Rewards credit card you may NOT get it converted to a Chase Freedom card on September 30th! I found that out when I called to cancel and was told due to my usage of the card (I think something like $3 in the past several years) the card would be canceled. I was hurt but quickly got over it. Also, the retention offer for the IHG Rewards card was a pathetic 15,000 points for spending $5k in three months…boo!

OKAY I’m No Genius (shocking, I know)….but if I were to use my Amex Card Plat to buy a $200 flt on SWA and cancel and cancel the flt., would I not still have a $200 airline credit for a year? ^ On the Amex Plat, one of the benefits is $200 travel credit per calendar year (airline incidentals). So, if you got the card now, that’s $200 in airline giftcards that you could buy (from AA, DL, etc) and another $200 you could buy for the following year. That’s $400 in airline giftcards or toward a flight. The AF is $450. Then you could ditch the card if you don’t need it.
Well, so many bloggers posted that and pushed the Amex Platinum and then they say “oh no, another devaluation” why they count the dinero from all the card apps #angry
Hmmm, not bad, then there are other perks apparently also, do you get any special status eg. I think maybe you can use their lounges, OK time for a little googling.
