TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
I tried an experiment yesterday with two blog posts! One was the regular early morning one and then around noon or so I had another blog post. Page view increase was about 20 to 25%. Educating the new bloggers, I am always thinking of the mission here! Now take into account that Boarding Area blogs make money on each page view…you understand why many make several posts per day. My blog makes no money from page views=ads. Will this continue? No idea, just had a flurry of eclectic material in the last few days, likely not going to last. But who knows?
One by product of doing this is that I don’t have many eclectic miles/points related blog posts that passed the all mighty TBB worthy threshold…So sad.
There is a $500 Chase Bank Bonus deal that expires in a few days that you can generate your own code. I recently did this for a Savings account for $300 and just got another targeted snail mail for another $300 for a checking account that I may go for.
With Accor buying Fairmont, Swissotel and Raffles, we will all soon find out how bad Accor’s Le Club sucks…oh and it sure sucks big time! This excerpt made me cry as it applies to me as Fiarmont Lifetime Platinum Presidents Club member: “If there is one thing to remember about the loyalty game, it is that any mention of ‘lifetime status’ refers to the lifetime of the programme and not to YOUR lifetime – as any bmi British Midland ‘lifetime Gold’ will tell you.”
The 25 Best Tourism Websites in the World in 2016. Kept looking for the one from Greece but then I realized its budget was cut!
Most underwhelming Presidential Suite? Review of it in the Hotel des Indes in The Hague.
I found Elizabeth Taylor’s Luxurious Mexican Hideaway. Just nine suites, has all the marking of a TPG caliber place, lol. Hampton this!
So this now 22 year old lady defected from North Korea and now goes to college in the US. What stood out in her interview was the excerpt below. Very interesting read as you all know I am fascinated about most things about North Korea…
“What I miss about North Korea is the human connection you get,” Park said. “We didn’t have text messages. I’m so grateful that I learned how to connect with someone without a phone, without text messages.”
In the US, Park said, this real-life connection is lacking. “We have every tool to love someone and love ourselves, but somehow we are so disconnected,” she said.
“When I call people here, they are like: ‘Why are you calling me? Just text me.’ I say: ‘I want to hear your voice.’ I think that’s the irony I feel in this place,” she added.
What a story of a strong young lady, her ski accident, her traumatic brain injury and her long road to recovery. I think Randy Petersen hired her #respect.
Good news: 401(k) costs have been coming down. Bad news: They still have a long way to go! Check Your Own Plan!
10 travel places outside Paris. Great photos! This is Étretat. WOW!
Best Greek island for every type of traveler. I don’t find fault on any of these…Ios reminds me of my youth, legendary party island…I hear it has not changed much!
Ranking the most (and least) diverse colleges in America. Look at Yeshiva University at #100, it’s almost white!
And I leave you with this…
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

Buzz-
As a puppy, our dog fell in love with another at Etretat. Years later, we took him there again but the other dog wasn’t around. It’s so true- you can’t go back.
If you think the Accor’s Le Club program sucks, wait until you get a whiff of what they call customer service. Everthing’s great until a hotel gues shows up and ruins a perfect day.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Etretat looks great!
Yeah, I am overwhelmed by grief my “LIfetime” deal is ending… #sosad

FWIW I didn’t see the first post yesterday because I went to the home page, saw a new article, clicked on it and that was that.
Headline for the other one sits ‘below the fold’ on an iPad.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yep…it threw off others as well. The short lived experiment of doing a second post is likely to be short lived. Thanks.

N. Koreans have smartphones too and before that no phones at all. With some Korean colleagues I also have the urge to ask them to please put what they have to say in writing, their English is very difficult, to put it mildly.
‘Page view increase was about 20 to 25%’: dude clicks don’t matter, how much time they spend on each page is the metric you should be looking for. That indicates if they are reading your ablutions. That said, can’t you sign up for adsense again?
Speaking of lifetime status, do former TWA super duper elites still have status with HP/US dba AA?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Sad to hear that she is no longer working there, I will update the post.
I agree about them Koreans.
One day I will check that “time spent on each page” metric. It means I will have to go to Google Analytics. I have not been there for a year or so. Same with Alexa, still waiting for the former blog troll to give me an update 🙂
Yeah, what happened to them TWAers?

Top of the morning. Not at all surprised to see Stanford as numero uno with diversity. Go Cardinal!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
If my son was accepted at Stanford this blog would be Titan-ish by now 🙂

Whats the diversity thing do again? Should they all be representative of the world population? of the US or North America? Im not a rabid lefty so Im not sure Im seeing the point clearly enough.

I think it is beneficial to the kids to go to school with others that resemble today’s demographics. And beneficial to the society as well.
Anyways, I thought it was a very interesting table and found it eclectic enough to share it here.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I’m not surprised to see UC Irvine with the smallest proportion of white students. Still, I didn’t realize it was so much lower than the others.

Breaking: Yeshiva to be renamed Whitey University.
My attempt at humor when I certainly don’t feel like it tonight…
