This blog in October will be different. As in the posts being shorter. And in the second half of October you will miss me as I will be taking the TBB show on the road to Iran! And as of today NO posts have been pre scheduled and it looks like it is not going to happen as work/life responsibilities/priorities are finally taking a toll here. Hey, we are only human…In addition, I got a few very positive emails in the past few days about my short posts. As in, “dude, there were so many worthy links in your regular Buzz posts we never had the time to check them all out, give us fewer and make them count”. Hmmm, I like it.
Not much is happening in the miles & points world lately…
Don’t forget to book United awards before October 6th to take advantage of any stopovers because that is the day they finally die…I mean, another huge hit and yet Titan bloggers who make a living on this stuff are still so cheerful about the future and how amazing this hobby is…blah blah blah. It is still great…but everything is so much harder these days.
For you award seat hunting magicians, can you help a brother no deal-killing blogger out? Looking for 3 economy seats using AA miles to Greece (prefer Thessaloniki SKG first, then Athens ATH) during June 15 -18 and returning 2 weeks later. Starting in Detroit DTW, Chicago O’Hare ORD doable too. If no AA miles on the return, it is okay to use United miles. Mrs. TBB has given up…you know it is hard when she asks “Is Iberia the same as Air Berlin?”, smh…after all these years, seriously?
That Julian dude bets we didn’t know about Chase sometimes using bulk fares in its own travel portal. Well, what if we had a hint about it or two? Anyways, this could be a pain, so beware!
Hilton HHonors did its regular category adjustment again. The hotels in Turkey came down A LOT, wow! Good job Erdogan!
In Detroit, all the celebrities stay at The Townsend. A local paper interviews the bellman. He does not reveal any interesting stories of course but still very interesting.

Am I becoming a Thought Leader in travel too? Maybe…as I was approached by the folks who are now marketing Club1Hotels.com and it appears they have approached some Titans as well. I poked around their site a bit, just not enthusiastic about it so I am passing on the opportunity and not bother with you guys with it. And then you wonder why I am not cut out to be a Titan, no marketing skills or love for the pump whatsoever! So many bloggers did it for their readers…#notreally.

Re Chase – one of my readers was sold a bulk fare by Amex. As this was on Delta, and non earning, it cost him status renewal.
I cannot overstate what a con this is. You ask Amex to book you a specific £2k ticket. They take a non-earning £1k bulk fare and double the price.
I have never used bank points to book travel on their portals…and looks like the streak will continue…
If I could find a decent place to send them Thank You points…

I ended up cancelling out my typ cards and transferring them all to Singapore. I can either send 6 of my family members to Hawaii, or do one round trip in Singapore suites. Decisions…

Leaning towards transferring to Singapore too…that darn 3 year limit should not deter me…but it does, especially after friend started asking to trade them as they were expiring…next month! How is the online award booking experience? Vs. United which my wife loves as it is so much more simple with so many partners online.
