We ponder about the Chase Sapphire Reserve bonus future, review FlexPerks, visit Marshall Islands, marvel at homemade Thai rockets, talk non sense about 5/24 rule something, tourism’s golden age, giant motherfracker scammers, awesome wildlife photographs, awesome TBB dog and more for YOU!
TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
I am back from Chicago after spending a few days there with three teenagers. Obviously, I am beat up and have lots to catch up on. And oh, taking off again for a weekend in Traverse City where I finally managed to use my two Club Carlson free night e-certs!
Not much eclectic stuff to share with you in this post…so, here we go:
Starting with something positive lol: The Future Already Looks Bleak for The Chase Sapphire Reserve. I agree with the Devil, errrr, meant to say Devil’s Advocate. This is the best card on the market and it is a ridiculously screaming deal in its first year. Get it while it’s hot, use the $300 credit, transfer out the 104k Ultimate Rewards points and BURN. The bonus is not going to last long and the miles/points only get devalued so GO! Again, support bloggers you appreciate, keep them going.
The “elusive” 5/24 rule is now official. Oh wait, it disappeared shortly after. And on and on and on, blah blah blah. I guess The Points Guy Inc. execs could pick up the phone and save us all the aggravating hassle but…cough, that will not help conversions—->sales——>PROFITS!
A decent review of the FlexPerks rewards program. I don’t think US Bank will do the Olympics promo again 🙂
This article makes a good case for tourism undergoing a golden age these days. And the rise of Airbnb in general. And more. And some astonishing numbers:
In China alone, spending on international travel and tourism was an astonishing $215 billion in 2015, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. That’s up more than 50% from $143 billion in 2014, and represents an elevenfold increase from the $19 billion total in 2007. It’s also well above the $149 billion that Americans spent on international travel in 2015 – itself an all-time high, even after accounting for inflation.
…we’re seeing an explosion in options, in a diverse world where people have countless different preferences and priorities when it comes to travel.
Homemade rockets at a Thai Rocket Festival. WOW. Must be seen to believe, future NASA rocket scientists!

Wow, check this out: “In 1959, surgeons in the Soviet Union grafted the head and front paws of one dog onto the back of another. This hybrid animal lived for 23 days after the surgery; another survived for 29 days.” And yes, they have a picture of the Soviet double dog.

Watch American Mary if you want a trifecta.

That dragon lady seems to be just as healthy an embodiment of purchased physical resurrection as, say, breast implants or duck lips. If our society continues to foolishly worship absurd bodily “enhancements” then it must be prepared for the evolution of the more-is-better game.
GringoLoco says
Butt implants are all the rage down here — everyone with more $$ than sense wants a Kardashian butt or a Colombian butt.
Blech.
Can just imagine the terror in the #Pumppumppump Houses yesterday when THE app disappeared. Somewhat balanced by my maniacal laughter…
Happy long weekend and #TBBon

Anyone else notice the subliminal messaging in today’s MMS interview. See 6th question.
Mike says
MMS ? I think I know what that is. Are you subliminally click baiting us ?
😮
TravelBloggerBuzz says
You made me look and…
Saw Scott do this interview, he posts here. Actually, he despises my pumping and he goes and gives clicks to one of the biggest corporate owned pumping machines in blogland, the one I hold responsible for ruining so many deals for his own $$ benefit while portraying along a happy couple showing friends and family how to travel for free.
Amazing what people will do for clicks!
I remain one blogger who has not done an interview at MMS and darn proud of it!
Stop clicking this crap, friends dont let friends click on TBB’s Blogs to Ignore blogs. If you do…you are part of the problem this hobby has gone to deep shit!

Great question.
Reselling is certainly an aspect of this hobby I wish I knew more about at the beginning.
Especially when you consider how helpful it can be for meeting spending requirements and earning a profit on the side.
Every now and then in the miles & points world, I slap my head thinking, “Why didn’t I realize that earlier?” Reselling falls into that category.
Daunting as it may be, reselling is a valuable tool in the miles and points game, and worth experimenting with.
ABC says
Reselling is a business. Not a hobby.

Anyone going to TPGs labor day party in the Hamptons?

Did not get an invite, I am so sad. Back to the waffle maker machine in the Country Inn Suites at Traverse City it is 🙂

I’m predicting Mommy Points will be the next(or one of the next) to disappear. No post today, frequently late to post, frequent substitution of her father(Grandpa Points) for the day’s post. Lacks relevant material, posts about ski trips with her kid, very little about miles or points. Adios, MP.
TBBTheDude says
What is surprising is that none of the big bloggers has quit yet.Everyone still battling through all the competition and the same old “news” and trying to be excited passing on tips on how to travel for free to…friends and family lol. If it was not for cards like the CSR that sell themselves I have no doubt that some would have folded by now. I think it is coming…and you may be right.
