TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!

In TBBland, we like to go slower in the weekends. Get away from the miles and points madness and stuff like that…Generally stick to some material that made a hell of an impression on me and I thought I would share it with you. My main criterion, since Day Uno, has been: Does it Entertain? Educate? Or Inspire?

Chris Rock in a Hard Place: On Infidelity, His New Tour and Starting Over
If you consider yourself a Chris Rock fan, this is a must read. Even if you are not. The guy talks about his life and lessons along the way. On marriage, his daughters, success, hard work, talent, aging, how he got started in show business, everything, I really enjoyed this!
Johnny Depp: A Star in Crisis and the Insane Story of His “Missing” Millions
No, this is not the TBB Hollywood star edition! It just happened that the first two links revolved around two of these guys. The one above is more like a cathartic revelation rant by Chris. This is definitely not as Depp is not interviewed. But what stood out for me, wearing my financial planner hat, is the INSANE amounts of money this guy was spending. Like $30,000 for wine per month! The payroll for 40 staff is $3.6 million per year. $150,000 per month on round the clock security. Now he is suing his former managers to discover where $650 million went. Anyways, you read some of this and you can’t help but wonder how lavishly some people live…WTF!
Neil Leifer: The Boxing Photos
In the boxing world, there is one name that everybody knows. And it is Neil Leifer. You have seen his pictures. You can not escape them. The guy is a living legend. Nobody comes close. Enjoy this awesome piece and of course enjoy his photographs of this brutal sport. I never really understood why beating up another human being can be a sport. Because I am a lover, not a fighter. Lol!
Museum of Failure
This unique museum is in Sweden. So fascinatingly interesting!
Museum of Failure is a collection of interesting innovation failures. The majority of all innovation projects fail and the museum showcases these failures to provide visitors a fascinating learning experience. The collection consists of over sixty failed products and services from around the world. Every item provides unique insight into the risky business of innovation.
Life Is a Single Payer Game
Some good stuff in here. If you are into this touchy feely stuff. I like to read about a variety of topics. And I do it for you. Ok, maybe not. I just read for myself and if I like it I bring it to you. For a moment there I thought this was Daraius on to his next blog venture or something. Anyways, I am losing my train of thought or however this phrase goes. Speaking of US slang, I would never forget the day when I got to the US and I heard “shit hit the fan”…somehow, my dictionary did not make any sense. At all. Lets move on now…
Wealth is just one of many external validations of “success”. We do this all the time when we grasp for better stuff, more prestige, etc. The prizes change, but it’s the same game. We keep hoping that something external will bring us this internal peace that we crave. But happiness, contentment and life satisfaction is a single player game.
I never gave a shit about blog metrics by the way, who is Alexa you guys? 🙂
Start to slowly disengage from these multiplayer games. Start to care a little less about winning them. They don’t matter all that much. It may feel a little lonely and empty at first. We fear quitting the multiplayer games because this reminds us we are truly alone. Single player brings the existential uneasiness of our loneliness into focus, but paradoxically this is where true contentment lives. Nurture and support the internal metrics of happiness for yourself. Lean into and push past the uncomfortable feeling of living a more unconventional life.
And stuff like that…
And I leave you with this…

TBB Management, at the next Board meeting, will discuss “ScottCastle’s jersey to be retired”. Will raise it up to the rafters at the next TBB blog reader meetup.
I need more coffee.

@Brenton: I tried the tinnitus technique you linked to the other day. It did not do anything for me. I will give it a try a few more times just in case. I read all the comments. Did not appear to be a cure but did provide temporary relief to some. I am trying not to think about it…but the buzzing is always there. I can definitely see why many suffer so much from it. I will give up my blog if the buzzing in my ear would stop…this is how much it bothers me!
Key is to stop thinking about it and go on like it is not even there….not easy!
Brenton says
Sorry to hear it didn’t work. I know It’s hard to deal with something that isn’t well understood and doesn’t have a cure. But, there are plenty of weird solutions to problems that are being discovered. There’s a really good Ted talk by Vilayanur Ramachandran called 3 clues to understanding your brain that you may like.

Buenos dias. Sorry about your tinnitus George, first time I hear about it. I hope it gets better, but don’t stop blogging please. I still believe your blog is where bs comes to an abrupt end (I may need to edit it to ” bs and tabloid headlines”).
TravelBloggerBuzz says
“where bs comes to an abrupt end”
I like it, thanks.

Is it me or has MMS become totally irrelevant?……I could be wrong but maybe TBB should do a World Coffee Tour?……… I would like to kick Melissa McCarthy in that fat ass of hers!……..Where is PedroNY when you need him, ¿Dónde está el baño?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Did you see Melissa riding in the streets of New Yorker in that motorized podium as Sean Spicer….”get out of my way”….wooohoo
PedroNY is probably passed out from too much food and champagne in an F seat somewhere followed up by frequent visits to a luxury hotel lounge…
I hope anyway, u ok man?

Speaking of Alexa… how about the listening device that one intentionally brings into their home, which then reacts to certain input. But in the meantime, what if it is recording all audio info for a purpose not known by the purchaser? We already know Apple has a database of all questions asked of Siri.
I’d suggest this Alexa is more worthy of concern as opposed to mere rankings.
Paging Kellyanne.

Hope your tinnitus gets better too, George. Never had it but I can imagine how much it sucks 🙁
Chris Rock is one of my all time favorites, hands down! Still need to see him live some day.
Single player indeed. Really good thoughts to ponder.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
That was a really insightful interview by Chris Rock. Hard to believe he is 52, wow!
Sometimes this weird tinnitus thing makes me feel I want to dunk on myself…ok, yeah, still blown away by what happened in the Warriors vs Spurs game today
