Some thoughts about the 5/24 Rule. TBB Reader PedroNY let us all know about it last week already…
I am sick of seeing posts about the Air France Flying Blue addition to the Ultimate Rewards partners and fake excitement to sell more credit cards. So, if you really wanted to know about what you can do with it, read this post.

That Chinese Anbang company is at it again. They spent $1.6 Billion to buy a Canadian hotel owner and it appears they are behind it. The non-transparency again is just typical with this company. You read some of this stuff and you shake your head, wow.

De nada.
This is not a “Chase has a new partner, OMG, here are all my chase credit cards again” drivel type of blog.
Trying to be that level of eclectic-ness at high levels 🙂

Dreams of mushrooms last nite. It’s all Bush — er Buzz’s fault!

I am used to being blamed for…everything.
I am not into mushrooms…strictly speaking about the edible kind, lol.

Thanks for the link, George!
BTW, I got my wife and daughter that SPG package for the dinner in the sky thing in Athens next week. They (hopefully!) will have a good time, I think! Hate that the end time on those auctions adds 5 minutes with every last minute bid, though! Still, I think it should be a fun time for them.
TBBTheDude says
What I find so full of hassle is watching a darn auction….I have never done it. Not likely to do it as Marriott takes over…
Expecting a post out of yours? #nopressure
Charlie says
I had actually been watching for an auction to get for my wife and daughter for a while but she hates traveling without me – especially to a new country! So, when this one came out for just 40 minutes away with transportation everywhere, I had to try! I was actually a bit surprised that I “won”. It did take an extra 45 minutes past schedule close time!
Actually, she will do the post on the trip, experience, and hotel! First guest post from the wife! I will do one on the actual process, though.

Two thoughts:
The IHG Chase Free Night seems to be less useful now; so many locations just don’t have any availability. Because the free night comes from award night buckets, this lack of availability is true for award nights too.
There are bloggers out there, many of them on BoardingArea, who are pretty much remoras to the Titanic sharks. They aspire to be Titans but until they reach that point they’ll just hang around flattering the Titans, gobbling up scraps, and me-too-ing. There are a lot of those. Asking the remoras to engage in non-Titan behavior seems a losing battle.
TBBTheDude says
I had that IHG free night availability crap happen to me, not good.
Oh yeah, so much of that is so ridiculous. Some even faint that they do not like the Titan posts but as soon as they get a backlink, they shut up and go over there to comment “thanks”. Or others continually interact with them (one way it seems) hoping to get noticed…
So many Titan wannabees…
In other news, I will be a Titan in my own way…or give up when something out of my control occurs——>bet on this lol.
It’s spring season here. Having that “lets BBQ” feelings…

Hello from Bologna,
You know, at a good BandB, one or more of the host/staff sits down and has a long chit chat with you. It goes way beyone what they say for hosts to do on the internet, which is Bologna.
The good ones sit down with you, find out your interests, make suggestions, tell you how and when you could do those activities, what modes of transportation are available and costs, what times are good/best to do them, help make any arrangements you need them to, from arranging transportation to getting and printing tickets from online, and so forth. They really line things up for you and it is just like you are visiting friends and family. It takes time and they are there hanging around and not in a rush to get the h*ll out of there.
I’m getting a little sick of these places that have good reviews from people that don’t know any better. The hosts meet you there, give you a map (just like the internet tells them to), draw some circles on it, makes a few suggestions, da da da da bla bla bla, then swoosh they are gone till tommorrow morning when they put out breakfast then swoosh they are gone again.
Just saying, that’s not my idea of a really good B and B.
Sorry.

Hi Buzz.
I’ll keep interacting here for no apparent reason. FYI, after I do my Amtrak roomette trip in June (before the Brooklyn Reality Tour aka BRT), I may post to your long gone Amtrak report. 😉
TBBTheDude says
I warned you about the roomette, good luck! 🙂
