TBB hit a wall. I have over 1,000 blogs (and growing) in my Google Reader today and I have not gotten through the vast majority of them! But I did have time to stop at my localCVS and pick up some Vanilla ice cream, you know, old habits never die! The situation has drastically changed as of Monday about 12.01 am. In my other life I had a major breakthrough and now I need to make sure I do not screw it up! When I say major I really mean it! If you guys knew what it was you would think what the hell am I doing here? And you would be right as….I wonder about that too, lol! Plus some other issues sprung up over the weekend that contributed to the absolute nothingness in the TBB side!
To my readers I apologize. This has been a labor of love and I have really enjoyed writing TBB and being part of your online experience (wow, that sounded good). And imagine how this comes on a day after my blog reached the highest number of page views in its short history, a grand total of 1,115 which brings tear to my eyes thinking how Bent Offers is trying to track me down with an offer impossible to refuse. Haahhahhahhahahhhahaha!
When I first started the blog on November 9th I wanted to give it my best for at least THREE MONTHS and focus on content, content, content and see what happens. Last two months of the year are kind of slow work wise so I dived right in. And I must admit, except the time suckiness factor, I do enjoy it! I am NOT giving it up until this goal is achieved! After that I need to reevaluate and perhaps set some realistic goals. It is ALL driven by what happens in my regular professional life and there is a high likelihood my services will be in more demand. Maybe it is time to hire me some help. But I am doing just fine alone; if money was the goal I would have slaved away for da firm to make partner…if I survived that is from extreme boredom. Besides, I always had issues with authority, lol. I always cherished my independence and freedom to do and say what I want more than anything else. That is why me and Bent Offers would never ever get along;-)
For those who know my other personality please try to keep the two identities separate, thank you!
This blog will look very different until I catch up…I will try. Family and my other passion will always come first. I did not exercise yesterday and I broke that promise that the blog would not interfere with that too…
If a reader has any ideas I am all ears. Maybe this daily posting was not only unsustainable but…totally insane from the get go:-) Maybe I post whenever I have time with truly exceptional blog posts that really impressed the hell out of me. Stuff like Nate’s stuff below…
BEST OF
Yomadic is da man! “Mean Streets of Zagreb, Croatia – Most Corrupt Nation in the World” One of the most original bloggers! I will have a beer with Nate before a score of mile/point bloggers pimping cards all the time!
Chris Elliott goes off on FlyerTalkers. I enjoy reading him now, he certainly makes things so interesting by stuff like this “Instead of the space going to real executives who could create jobs, the space went to FlyerTalk idiots. That is beyond stealing for me.” Umm, you know Chris, maybe they were not real executives but real child molesters maybe…so FlyerTalkers saved some children…maybe? Who knows?? I just don’t want people to sue when this happens, so ridiculous!
NOT SO BEST OF
I just read two, you know who they are. I shook my head and moved on. It is 2.15 am and I need to get me some sleep before I drop dead from exhaustion!
As I have always said…#developing
Expert TBB!

How about either posting every second day and/or if you don’t have the time, just post the links for each section without the commentary

I am considering all the ideas, thank you!

Uh-oh…. MV. Wants us to get the frontier cc… Puleeze, not again!

Thanks for the comment…I am going to miss doing that a lot:-)

George, a reasonable schedule would be MWF. That would give you time to absorb the news without being OCD about it.

Taking in all ideas, thank you!

As usual, TPG’s top 10 list needs several real stretches just to make it to 10
Among other Valentine’s Day gifts he brings up…
Buying her miles
Making them an additional cardholder
“Leveraging the creativity of a concierge”
I can picture a woman now – “oh baby, how did you know it was AA miles that I wanted!”
Obviously it goes without saying, but just about every credit card that gets him affiliate $$$ made it’s way into the post at some point
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Very funny, made me laugh, thanks!

I told you to let me know when it interfered with exercising! Lord knows it has at my house. Sorry to hear that though, but happy for the developments in your “real” life. Keeping a balance with a daily blog is very challenging. Props to those who bring it teams to help with that very real issue. Whether your blog is your hobby or your job, that still remains a struggle because the internet is not a 9-5 place. Good luck with whatever direction you go in with your site.

Oh great, the “angries” are proliferating the boards again…

Thank you MP, I appreciate that. I exercised today so it’s good. That development was in the works and I am still stunned about who I am associated with! After doing this for almost three months I do have a newfound appreciation for bloggers, for sure!

look at nomadic matt’s interview with tpg! Affiliate links… cha ching!
Anonymous says
He uses an AA card for everyday spend (one with a 30k signup bonus no less!)?
I wonder if TPG would still consider him an “expert” worth interviewing if he used the non-affiliate US Airways card for his personal spend

Nomadic Matt also uses his American miles for hotel awards, rather than air. So take it for what it’s worth.

It’s in the queue…it is so long it scares me:-)

The funniest part of the whole Chris Elliott kerfuffle is that some Flyertalker thought it wise to get CE involved. Rather than consult a lawyer, or go to small claims court, or other routes, they consulted some journalist who gets naive customers’ cruise deposits back via bad blog publicity.
The second funniest part is how high-and-mighty he sounds in refusing to employ his genius methods for the FTer.

I think I agreed with every word you wrote!

So what poor advice and terrible credit cards do you think FTG will recommend in tomorrow’s churning challenge?
“Churning Challenge: Dallas. To get there, open up 2 Delta cards”
TravelBlogger Buzz says
I expect an update on the 2BM AACiti & clear directions on how to maximize the AA miles….
🙂

TBB, you have more and more references to how you can’t keep up the content, etc. Why not just cut the cord already and switch to a non-daily blog, like someone upstream recommended? Ask yourself if the content you provide is really of a time-sensitive nature. If not, then 3x a week–or even once a week–should be enough.
We would all still read you!

I think the only person who is so obsessed with your blog that he can’t get by without a daily post from you is FTG
Just be careful about being accused of “discriminating against the elderly” if you curtail the frequency of your posts

The daily thing is a goal I set to do this for three straight months. Anniversary coming up on February 9th. After that there is no way I can do this daily…or if at all. It will depend on developments on the ground in my other life and there are some very exciting things are happening there.
So, as always, #developing.
One thing for sure….I am not going away, I will forever be a part of this community, I am hooked on this crack, there is no cure!

Like blucat mentioned, maybe even switch to once a week as a weekly recap. What would be great is to make every other day reader days where you just start a blurb of a post about anything and then let your readers post in the comments about what they think the best and worst are. People can chime in on replies and you can cap it all off on the weekend.
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Hmm, interesting idea, thanks for throwing it in here! I will consider all ideas, thank you!
Bill says
You can always have people nominate/vote for best of and worst of for the day and the next day just post some comments on those that win.
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Great ideas guys, thank you! This will require a better blog format and who has time to look into that…Love all ideas!
Jack says
What you’ve been trying to do would probably be impossible for an unemployed person to keep up with. Switch to posting a couple times a week.

I like to try impossible things because I am stubborn…and an idiot at the same time:-)

1000 blogs and you review the same 10 every day? Agreed, you are an idiot.
