TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
Back from NYC after a wonderful Brooklyn Reality Tour and now on major catch up mode which is compounded with the upcoming vacation to Asia. I will try to do my best to keep the blog up but…
Did you know active military members get free American Airlines lounge access? I sure didn’t.
Getting an appointment for Global Entry interview is becoming like that elusive Skymiles award…This post may help speed it up.
Charlie makes a really good case to credit your flight miles to Aegean Airlines. I think crediting to the US airlines in el cheapo tickets is really dumb!
Hotel CEOs talk about branding. Interesting stuff. And, oh my god, Marriott will retain Sheraton!
The Flight Deal has a section about practical travel tips to different destinations. Emphasis on the practical!

I have no doubt some lowly paid ghost writer is writing the armed forces post and massaging them plastic links. And placing this ! at the end of each sentence. Woohoo

So The New Yorker article is beyond belief hilarious, thank you for linking to that — definitely made me laugh a few times. I had to forward it to a few friends, all got a good giggle out of it.
I hope you BK trip was a pleasure, and the weather held up for you. Sounds like the Plaza hotel was a good experience. Did you use your annual upgrade to a Junior Suite or they did it due to your lifetime status that you got years back? Just wondering what it took to get it. Did you use any of your food vouchers, tea at the pump room?
Enjoy your planning for the Asia trip, and the trip itself, sounds like you will have a blast.
Thank you for blogging.
Cheers,
PedroNY

Used wife’s Visa free night to book. Added myself to reservation. Got lazy, waited. Received welcome email “we are so looking forward” bla bla bla. I replied with my non TBB email and kindly asked for a suite upgrade and gave them my Platinum #, my satisfaction with their program over the years. And did mention my side blog too. I made sure to add size mattered more than view. Willing to use any of hers or my own complimentary suite or room upgrades.
I knew it was going to turn out well when operations manager checked out my Linkedin profile. 🙂
No upgrade certs were used. Got junior suite upgrade which I am told does not happen with Visa free nights. Even sent me wonderful Platinum amenity, a fabulous platter of cheeses, fruits and nuts and big bottle of fancy water. Great service through out. Tony awards were in the hotel, paparazzi everywhere. In the morning, I treated client to breakfast. Finished wife’s certs and a few of mine #winning. Skip the breakfast in the restaurant and just go to the wonderful Plaza shops downstairs. Central Park across the street, great for running! I now need to cancel her cc 😉

SPG Hotel support to SPG staff in today’s email:
Dear All,
Since the announcement of the news that Starwood Hotels & Resorts is joining with Marriott International to create the world’s biggest and best hotel company, our SPG members have asked many questions about the future of our loyalty program. We have also heard a lot of questions from Marriott Rewards members about how and when they can earn and redeem at Starwood hotels. Should you and your teams receive these questions you may respond with this statement:
We don’t anticipate launching a newly combined program until at least 2018. In the meantime, you will continue to receive the benefits associated with the loyalty program with which you’re staying. When staying at a Starwood hotel, SPG members will continue to receive SPG benefits. When staying at a Marriott hotel, Rewards members will continue to receive Rewards benefits at Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton hotels.
