The miles/points blogspace is changing. We have already seen some blog mergers (all the Upgdr writers except one joined Travel Codex). We have seen others running out of gas quitting or posting less. We have seen pleas for guest bloggers and hiring writers.
And now? I am sorry distraught to see one of my favorite writers and people in this hobby, Julian (also known as the writer behind the cool pen name Devil’s Advocate) joining full time The Points Guy Inc. This means, sadly, he will no longer be writing at Frequent Miler and Travel Codex. You know how I feel about The Points Guy, probably the most successful (in dinero) blog in this space…which really it just means the one blog that has taken credit card selling to the nth degree! Pretty sad that blogs like this can just buy talent…which is in such short supply in this space. Just a very sad day for me and true miles/points aficionados. I wish Julian the best and I am certain he made the best move for himself, I understand. But…still…it hurts. I guess I am not the only one hurting if you read the comments, this excerpt from JimT nails it:
“You correctly called for putting the Chase Sapphire Preferred in the sock drawer. You will not be able to write that article at TPG since it is driven by affiliate link money – especially from Chase.”
I was really looking forward to the review of the Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa by Miles per Day. It did not disappoint.
Talk about educational…This video contains numerous interesting facts about every country in the world. Well, it is Part I…I am sure the other parts will end up covering all of the countries. And, as you know, educating is part of the blog mission.
Mongolian throat singing. Amazing, never seen anything like this. Thanks Twisted Sifter…again! And the scenery…wow!
I do not have a pure personal finance post for you to enjoy. But this one titled “19 Things We Learned from the 2016 Election” is really good. And, as #18 states that “Goldman Sachs rules the world”, sometimes, that’s all you need to know #crying.
Inside the world’s most luxurious suite. It’s the Katara Suite in the Excelsior Hotel Gallia in Milan, Italy. With 11,000 square feet, I am not sure how it will accommodate my entourage lol. Cost? About £17,000-per-night room….I thought briefly about starting a Kickstarter campaign and then…I woke up! For the linguists out there: Katara, in Greek, means curse, WTF!
Dubai from above the clouds, from the crown prince, enjoy!
A map of the entire Internet in 1973. Wow!
I have decided I am going to delete two blogs in the Blogs I Like list, two are under consideration to join them and one is under consideration to be added. Feel free to speculate in the comments. To help my Alexa rankings lol.
At The Points Guy, they NEVER take a break from selling credit cards. I mean, READ the byline in the picture: “The Points Guy may receive a commission from Chase”. May???? Lol. It should be replaced with “will”.
I get more requests lately…One is by muchopoints.com asking me what is my business model? I shook my head…like I have one! I delete these…obviously, I am NOT The Points Guy 🙂
And I leave you with this…

In the late 90s, early 2000s, Bela Fleck toured with a guy named Kongar-ol Ondar. I highly recommend finding him on YouTube and/or watching the entire Live at the Quick show.
Side note, I tried to help my mom sign up for airbnb to spend a few nights beachfront in Hawaii next month (Thank you Singapore miles). It wouldn’t let me load the giftcard I bought from gcm without an attached credit card. Wtf is that about? Anyway, I added mine, the account automatically locked out, and after calling, emailing, a dm on Twitter, I got an email back saying the lockout was permanent and irreversible. No justification, just pointing out a link to their T&Cs. If I get that referral credit I’ll use it and then be done with them forever. This is after losing $100 of referral credit because I had no idea it expired. You’d think they would at least have an expiry date on each of the credits.

Like this classic D.A. blog post…………Bet You Didn’t Know, How to silence a BlueBird machine.
Julian Assage watch out, you have competition, because there is a new sheriff in town and you can find him at The Points Guy.

Widespread rumors are that his first post at TPG would be “Time to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred card out of the drawer….NOW!”
Your avatars are almost as hilarious as my gif/pics at the end of each post!

DA used to be funny a loooooong time ago. Last year or so his posts have sucked. Just being a realist. I think his writing style lost its excellent humor

Philosophical question of the day:
How come you can’t track your Award Wallet referral points via Award Wallet?!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Maybe they are too busy selling credit cards?
DeepThroat says
So if u get CSR referrals commission to you amateur type bloggers has now been cut 58%.
Amazon revenue should be almost dead for u.
And u do not get any revs from page views like the Boarding Area bloggers. Frankly I admire you keep going here keeping us entertained, thank you.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Thanks…I guess.
I got the “call”, I assume you did too. Phuck to infinity!

Speaking of which… where is Drew? Still busy building a sharing thingie with the consultant?

ScottCastle says
Did you buy ALL of the Amazon Prime Panera gift cards?!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I did not. Due to my daughter’s school schedule (I drive her to/from school), I don’t spend much time at Panera these days. It is Starbucks, thanks to gift cards from Discover I am drinking coffee freeeeeee!
congrats for all the weekday golds!

Devil’s Advocate isn’t very good. But TPG is the worst. Other than noobs who even goes to that site anymore?
Raffles says
2.5m unique computers per month, according to his last set of stats
AggieBoy says
thats a lot. i thought i read somewhere where boardingarea is around 6m unique readers monthly. pretty far margin vs. all those promoted tweets i see posted on flyertalk. think they’d figure out that once the credit card is scarfed down that there was non reason to return?
