We learn of the 9 largest hotel loyalty programs, cry over the loss of the Disney dollar, drive over to the Gibraltar Airport, bitch at resort fees, sing to an elephant to make her sleep, we whine over click-baiting, we admire the Doritos guy and shake our heads at men who want to be dogs & so much more you will go nuts telling everyone to help me make my plunging Alexa ranking numbers go up for a change, thanks!

9 Largest Hotel Loyalty Programs. IHG Rewards leads by several miles!
Resort Fees just suck. They just suck less than fuel surcharges. Being positive 🙂
Even Disney is ditching its currency, when will this bad streak end?
Elephants are great. This elephant goes to sleep after Lek sings her a lullaby #inspiring.
I am a heavy user of Twitter. I follow my therapist’s orders to “let go”. And I do! I also pre schedule tweets with links back to my blog, the only marketing I do for my site. Based on my clicks…it is not very effective but I am good at it, lol.
Here is a personal finance post that relates click-baiting to investment decisions. An excerpt that so resembles what is happening to our not so little hobby lately…
Why does this annual farce go on? Because it works. Juicy headlines attract clicks, and people who make (and repeat) outrageous claims attract eyeballs and capital. Why people feel obligated to give their money to these mystics is beyond my understanding, but it is effective, and so it continues.
As a public-service reminder to pundits and click mongers — people may forget, but the internet remains indexed and Google-searchable for a long time.
So please folks, don’t encourage this foolishness by giving in to the temptation to click on every salacious, but misleading, headline you see. You will only encourage them.
The Gibraltar airport runway. The one crossing a 4-lane highway.
North Korea’s obsession with huge, weird buildings.
Probably one of the weirdest stories I read. Over in Great Britain, there is a documentary about men who role play as dogs. Seriously?
And I leave you with this…
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

MMS is now part of the bankrate family! I can’t wait to see a spin-off or crossover episode with tpgtv. (True story, when I just typed “tpgtv” my phone auto corrected to “rotten”)

Ka-ching!
ABC says
MMS has been in a decline for more than a year. Revenue must be suffering. I can understand why they want to get out. Bankrate must have gotten it for a cheap penny. I doubt MMS has a different audience than TPG (MMS must be smaller). Time to merge TPG and MMS?
Who owns FTG?
Helmholtz says
I think they do have different audiences. TPG is corporate, classy, “aspirational.” MMS is for the baby boomers (no offense, boomers) who are proud that they set their own Internets up.
smittytabb says
I am not sure that is true. I mean Darius and Emily are the age of Boomer’s kids. I think their audience is younger than that. I am a boomer and I had never heard of them until I was years into this. And the Internet comment is just silly.
Helmholtz says
Oh I’m excited. Let’s hear something good about MMS! Drink every time you hear “circles and arrows”, “exclamation points”, “stock photos”, “Ashley Madison”, “friends and family” etc

Add “Folks”, “Mother in law rule”, and “Big travel with small money”.

MMS:
Typical crap as usual in the MMS blog. I should do a post wrecking it but who has the time? I just barfed all over myself with:
>>>>>>>>>>>A crucial part of our decision was the ability to keep our complete independence in publishing content.
If you believe this you are a moron. Then again, this blog always targeted morons…
>>>>>>>>>>>The folks at Bankrate support the Million Mile Secrets philosophy of writing about credit cards which don’t pay us a commission
If you believe this you are a moron. Oh wait, we already said that. This from the blog who turned the 5/24 announcement post into a 34 credit card affiliate orgy. Expect more writing about cards that don’t pay a commission….LOLOLOLOLOL
>>>>>>>>>>>They have left us alone to manage the blog and we have no revenue, profitability, or growth numbers to hit.
So, u start writing about all the best offers with links that don’t compensate you….Riiiiiiight? And you will be left alone to do that. Riiiiiiight? Are there people out there who believe this? Oh yes there are. Loads of them I guess.
>>>>>>>>>>>And we don’t intend to change anything in the future!
Is this a threat?
At one point you believe your own bullshit.
This space lacks so much transparency is ridiculous.
If this does not bring out the TBB troll…I don’t know what will! #hint

Buzz-
Leave the troll put of this. Everyone knows he ‘sold out at the top’-he told us himself. Daraius missed it by 4+ years.
So with all these changes, what’s the real ‘Mother in Law’ rule now? Let’s check in with Ernie K. Do:

Gibraltar piece is a bit of an exaggeration. It is hardly a highway, although it does have four lanes. Most interesting thing is that Spain is on one side, Gibraltar the other. And yes, I have ridden across the runway in a car and it is interesting for sure.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I just liked the cool picture.
smittytabb says
Gibraltar is a unique place. Feels like a weird combination of UK and Spain with a hint of Morocco with this dramatic landscape and Barbary macaques (apes) running wild but tame enough to pose for photos. Definitely belongs on TBB for the cool vibe.

Thanks for the compliment.

Still in Bologna, go to Florence tomorrow. Took a day trip on the train to Ravenna today. Just stuff to do really.

What no MMS piece?!
They’re going from pumping credit cards for a living to pumping credit cards for a living.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
No, they are now going to have technical help to give them more time to pump credit cards for a living 🙂

Still amazes me that half the guests in chain brand hotels are not loyalty program members.
And this was before it was the case that there are now better deals all over the web through OTA sites, which the major chains will not cover for a best rate guarantee. The OTA member discount offers come hard and fast these days with rates undercutting the hotel chain’s own rates.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I never understood that either…When I check in hotels and I see the non loyalty program line being so much longer I shake my head.
