Let me wear my financial planner hat now…I use the HSA by funding it to the maximum EVERY year, getting the free money from wife’s employer (a cool $1,000), investing it like the guru I am (cough) and never getting any money out, I just pay the few health care expenses out of pocket! Lets not get into the Flexible Spending Accounts for Health Care now, that’s a different issue. But if you do pay for health care expenses out of pocket… SAVE ALL THESE RECEIPTS in one pile! When you go on Medicare, you can reimburse yourself for ALL these health care expenses. Boom, then go on a trip! You are welcome. I am trying to keep the personal finance stuff on the light side because I don’t want to mix the two areas. I know many readers like them….some a lot. So, I plan to continue to add a bit of this area in here. We shall see where it all leads…I am making it up as I go along…

So, if you know what you are doing, and have a legit business and never had an Ink card in the past 24 months, you should go for it before the 5/24 rule takes effect!
Also, two other cards that become a “better get now before they go away” are the Amex SPG cards!
Remember, AMEX Personal you can not have the signing bonus again if you had the card in the past. And you can not have the signing bonus again if no more than 12 months have passed since you had the Business SPG Amex!

Wife (well, me) is thinking of getting Ink Plus Business card now. Does Chase think it’s different from Ink Bold? Will wife have to answer questions about her business?
I applied online and got the “call immediately” response. I did not call in and was approved. I don’t have a “business” either. The general recommendation is to not call in, unless you are declined or they need to verify personal info, I believe.
I just applied (through the TBB credit cards link) and got the “call immediately” response too. I called, they verified my name, DOB and mother’s maiden name, put me on hold for a minute then said I was approved. Didn’t have to answer any business questions at all.

I always called with Chase within an hour after applying online and not getting instant approval. This may have changed from what I read but now you say it is back to normal. I am not sure what to do with it…I intend to suggest to wait unless more have your experience.
Anyways, I am meeting with a private banker at Chase next week. Short phone discussion was about “investment products” and “research” which I already told her I am not that interested…so I am guessing I will be pummeled by green young out of college staff looking to expand their “book of business” on me. Ok, I am shaking my head. I just want the no fee accounts and the 60k credit cards 🙂

Best SPG offer is 30K, which usually comes around in August. Not sure if it will come around again with the whole merger. I am keeping my eye on that one too and wondering if I should get it now or wait until August. Hard to tell.

Well, it is pretty much what exoticfusion said on the SPG cards. I would say the 30k would come back if it was anyone else other than Marriott. These guys are just ruthless! So…hurry 😉 I know you don’t do hotels but can transfer 25k SPG to 30k AA at least.
I think I am getting sick of the lists, from sites like AFAR. I think I don’t mind the word “List”, but if they include the word “Top” or “Best”,–like TOP beaches of the world–, I always think “Phuck off…you don’t really know, do you?”
Now, if RAMSEY came up with a Top or Best list, then maybe I would pay attention…

About the HSA: no need to keep a pile of receipts. We use Optum Bank’s HSA, and I can scan and upload the receipts to their website. Of course this means you’re captive to their HSA unless you keep another copy (or are willing to download/reprint if you ever switch custodians). But their product is pretty good so I’m not too worried. (although I did keep the scanned copies…)
Just wanted to clarify the last sentence: I kept electronic copies of the scans; I didn’t keep the physical documents.

I had Optum Bank before my wife changed jobs and rolled it over into new provider. We had an excellent experience at Optum Bank!

It’s a good day when you’re the top link in a TBB post. I didn’t mention any credit cards in the LM post (I don’t have links anyway) but the best card is actually a 2% cash back card to buy LM during sales. I wouldn’t earn them at a slow pace but only if you have an imminent booking.
