We have an incredible story about modern slavery, visit the Apple HQ Mothership, check out the best and worst frequent flier programs, fly over Grand Canyon.

My Family’s Slave – Lola’s Story
This was the best story I read this past week. By far. An emotional gripping tail of, well, modern slavery. In the United States of America. It has raised LOTS of reader reactions. And some of the feedback has not been too kind on the author. This is one of these reads where you sit down in a comfortable chair, get a cup of coffee (0r tea or whatever you favorite drink is) and be ready to have your emotions checked like they have never been checked before. You may cry and the story will stick with you…for a while.
Apple’s New Campus: An Exclusive Look Inside the Mothership
This is exactly what the title says! Flawless curves, Milled aluminum, Endless glass, Walled garden. Needless to say, to look at Apple’s new HQ is…mesmerizing. Watch Steve Jobs sell the building to Cupertino City Council. His last public appearance. Must read. And I am not an Apple user!
The Best (and Worst) Frequent-Flier Programs for Free Seats for 2017
I like to keep the miles and points hobby material out of my blog in the weekends. But this was obviously worth enough to include here. I believe the whole article is restricted under a pay wall. But you can still watch the short video to get the main points. This is an annual survey done which has its flaws. But I would like to single out a few points that are worth, well, singling out with my always incendiary commentary in brackets ๐
Bad news for frequent fliers: The small movement to make it easier to cash in miles and points for seats is ending, and airlines may keep getting even stingier. [First two sentences…Phuck!]
Top two airlines for award seat availability are Southwest at 100% and JetBlue at 94.3% [Revenue based all the way, coincidence?]
Airlines are increasingly using frequent-flier programs to generate revenue instead of rewarding customers [You.Don’t.Say]
Cathay Pacific , Emirates, Turkish and Air Berlin all posted a significant drop in availability. Qantas , Lufthansa , Air France/KLM and Air China had smaller declines. [Sucking.Everywhere]
As they have with many of their services, airlines have skewed frequent-flier perks to please business travelers who buy expensive tickets and squeeze benefits for low-fare passengers [Crying]
Award ticket travel: Southwest 13%, American 6.3%, Delta and United just under 8% [Damn you AA CEO Doug Parker!]
SKYGLOWPROJECT.COM: KAIBAB ELEGY
One of the most stunning videos ever posted in the history of TBB! It’s a timelapse in Grand Canyon as we watch a rare weather phenomenon, a full cloud inversion. You need something to get inspired after the previous link got you all depressed!

Interesting read. Side note, I have a two and a half year old that is very sweet and empathetic, or he’s just already outsmarting me…
TBBTheDude says
Looks interesting, added it to the “to read” list.
Thanks.

I posted the psychopath article on Twitter this week, I was mildly amused by the fact that they’re re-training young psychopaths using a points-based rewards scheme.

I saw that after reading the Lola story. Both such great reads.

If this blog was fed content as much as Alan H. does to VFTW…I would put him on my payroll and give a bonus when blog is sold for multi zeroes ๐

That slave story is digusting. The author is a POS. How revolting.
TBBTheDude says
Your reaction is not uncommon.
The author is dead by the way.
Could not believe it as I was reading it…
MileageUpdate says
The fact that some in those comments section seemed to be siding with the author was disgusting. That guy was barely a human being. Such disdain for another life
TravelBloggerBuzz says
If you think of the author like this, I can not imagine what you think of his parents!!
As Full Moon stated it below: It is an “exceptionally tragic” story all around.
The guy wrote a masterpiece. Whatever you think of him. This story sticks with you…

DOC Get well soon, we are all praying for you.

I think he is on vacation.
FullMoon says
Thank you for recommending Lola’s story. It is exceptionally tragic on all levels.
I was reminded of the amahs on Sundays in Hong Kong; I won’t be seeing them in the same light ever again.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
“Exceptionally tragic” indeed.
You are very welcome.
