I’ve been finalizing our family holiday trip to New York. I am up to over 800,000 miles/points used this year and counting…I actually used AMEX Pay with Points feature to book son on Jetblue alone. I guess I am supposed to get 30% of the points back. Also looking for a getaway trip for me and Mrs. and apparently flying out in that week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is a horrendous week to use miles, YIKES! No seats/no savers throughout! OMG, we may have to pay cash 🙂
Sometimes I wonder where does View From the Wing get ideas for so many blog posts. I noticed a pattern. A post appears in Frequent Business Traveler and shortly thereafter Gary is on it…Just an observation.
10 Peaceful Photos of Empty Train Stations. I just love these!

I’m Sixt Plat via my LH M&M status since 10+ years now and can tell you its not really worth it and mostly hit and miss. Sixt has an intricate status system where they can see if you have status due to courtesy matching or thru real $$$ spend.

Thanks…Does not appear worth the trouble then.

Mr. EGO just throws his spin on other folks content from the web……….that”s what make him the foremost authority on points, miles and all known things to mankind. Don’t believe me? He’s been called an “Air Genius” and “an airline industry brainiac, who you might think of as the Nate Silver of his domain.” He has also been called “the godfather of the [frequent flyer] hobby” in Rolling Stone.

Almost forgot Buzz, DWTS (Dancing With The Stars), a show I hate that my wife watches (sorry ladies, I’m married) will have on Gary Busey this season. Count me in on watching this train wreck.

I did not click on the link to learn about the latest Starwood promo. It led to Milepoint, a site I have not visited in more than a year 🙂
A little modesty would be welcome as well, someone tell GL!

OK Buzz thanks for the acronym list, trying to figure out BBBJ is that on there somewhere ?
I’m trying to figure out about burning my ~245K Hawaiian Air miles on China Air or Korean Air perhaps to fly business class to Hong Kong 2016 next Sept/Oct., sorry do I sound like a broken record ? But that Korean Air mention just reminded me, a super nice site member on FT tipped me to searching out my own reward and discount flights using free expertflyer, then going to GDS to find something (same/better fares from other cities?), thence to ITIA to find something else (flight codes?), those last two might not be the exact letters but you get the idea, I eventually will start to catch on and in the meantime thanks for putting up with my ramblings. He said it was so easy he was slightly shocked that anyone such as an “awards travel booking service” would be so predatory as to actually charge for doing it.
OK does any of that make sense to you ?
Comments from all welcome.

I don’t know much about Hawaiian Miles. Actually I don’t know anything! And award booking is definitely not my thing, it sometimes totally demolishes me so I just….keep earning and then go on burning binges so I can spend as less time doing it as I can 🙂
sometimes, the best learning is best when you figure it out. Spend more time on FT!

Mike – Just curious how you ended up with 245K Hawaiian miles?

I think this one calls for a special Buzz post.
Gary Leff being interviewed by an attractive anchor about-I can’t believe it-an airline weighing passengers before boarding. Can you use points to bypass the scales?

I had a few short jobs over in Hawaii so I figured I’d get the Hawaiian Air credit card, this was several years ago. I was mindlessly using it for a while then finally realized I wasn’t burning the miles so I quit and went back to my United card. Just never even thought about them sitting in the account.
Just learning about this game for real at this time, lots of opportunity wasted !

Just watched the segment, now is Gary one of Buzz’s love like or hate bloggers ? The guy isn’t broke is he ? Couldn’t he at least have worn a tie ? He is representing the awards travel/frequent flyer community, come one we don’t want everyone thinking we are a bunch of slobs ! ! ! (Are we ? )
The chick is pretty hot once she takes her jacket off and we get to see her in a halter top, her voice though, that accent lol, definitely cute but kind of aggressive and hard. It is a financial show, right ?
Right clever title, with the hot chick anchoring, of course they can invoke plausible deniability.
On now on to today’s blog post !
Thanks Buzz !
