Quite a few changes in the travel rewards credit card front. We now have both personal and business Citi AA cards offering 60,000 AA miles. And there is a new AMEX Business Starwood SPG card offer for 35,000 Starwood SPG points (but beware of the high minimum spend of $10k to get it all, you get 25k SPG points after $6k and another 10k SPG points after another $4k of spend). Gone are the 100k Amex Hilton Surpass and the 75k Amex Hilton along with the 60k Southswest cards and the IHG 80k card. For the latest list of BEST OFFERS available with my links please click HERE.
Now that we got this out of the way, lets roll with the Buzzz!
For interest to Ann Arbor residents and visitors: The Hyatt Place hotel in the Briarwood area opened October 3rd.
This article makes a pretty good case for the Amex Centurion lounges, an area where Chase severely lacks with what it offers its Sapphire Reserve cardholders.
In case you were interest to learn about the bankruptcy of Monarch Airlines and the airline market in Europe.
This is completely nuts. Accor has been on a mother of all buying sprees. Are these guys laundering money or what? Can you identify what this company is all about? This time they bought into the Orient Express brand. Smh. In case you missed it, they bought hotel reservation platform Gekko earlier in the week, WTF!
Are you annoyed by crying babies on board. Well, Japan’s All Nippon Airways wants to be your airline then!
Golf’s longest hole is 2,011 km long, lasts 82 days and takes 20,093 shots! Hint: It’s in Mongolia.

The restrictions placed by banks in approving new apps keep coming. Well, with so many credit card pumping operations in the blogosphere we are no longer a rounding error. Latest bank to attack is Bank of America with a 2/3/4 rule:
No more than 2 BoA cards in a two month time
No more than 3 BoA cards in a year
No more than 4 BoA cards in 24 months
The full revenue based tsunami is taking hold in Europe as well. Hello Flying Blue!
Comprehensive guide on the Emirates Skywards program. I am not a fan.
Mrs. TBB is expanding her award booking expertise away from British Airways Avios (only booking DTW-LGA trips on AA for 15k RT) and now booked herself an award ticket to see her best friend in Honolulu for 40k RT in coach. Frankly, I showed her how to do it because I wanted her to learn how the AA award engine works thinking inside “good luck with that lol”. Before someone jumps on me, yes she was told she can go for Business Class. Maybe, AA is starting to improve award availability. YTD burning now stands at 656,500.
Quarter end work and upcoming conference followed by trip to Greece is kicking my ass. And due to that, I am taking a break on family churning opportunities, sad!

Great stuff today!
Time for the wife to get another card. Had been thinking of the 50K TYP Preferred link DoC posted about the other day to add to the TYP pile. But the 60K AA would be good too. Hmmm.
TBBTheDude says
Nice job Rob! You know the success of your site is attributed to have it included in the glorious TBB Blogs I Like list!
Thanks for the kinds words Ryan, I do my best to contribute to world peace and happiness here. I ‘ll let the clicks fall where they may. Up to 4 in October….maybe I hit 10 this month?

Hey you guys, I just learned at the MMS Friday interview that you can use Rewards Dining and your fav credit card to earn big miles, wow! Oh, please sit down, you can do online shopping and earn big miles tooooo.
I wonder how many newbs fall for the three tools the guy sells and then of course…expertly sells the credit cards…
And yes that is exactly what I did in the first paragraph today! At least you guys only take from the banks, the way it should be done lol

good luck tonight. My team Uruguay is 99,9% in and I’m already looking to book some flexible award to Moscow.
I read excellent reviews on BR 2049. Oscar candidate apparently. Now I need to convince the mrs to watch the original so we can go watch this one.

Wife could not make it for the 7 pm showing. So she said do the next one. I did. At 10.30 pm. And just found out it is almost 3 hours long. That’s just way past my bedtime, noooooo!
I still can not believe we may have a WC without Argentina!
Greece must win both of its last games and get some help too to make it to a playoff…
Ramsey ... back from the DEAD says
George are you still coming out here to PDX? The raining season is coming (usually around Halloween) and that makes this place a traffic clusterf*ck (thanks X-Califorians).
I’m sure there will be an anti – Trump, I do not want to work for a living, march going on somewhere.
You will be happy to know Portland has recently been named the Lesbian Capital of the USA!!
Even Stevie Wonder could figure that out.
Based on today’s post at Renes Points, it looks like your pal might be here right now. WOW!
UPDATE….restaurants HUNG FAR LOW is closed (possibly condemned),
but PHO KING GOOD is still going strong.
PS Do not let anyone drag your ass to VOODOO Donuts, we only send tourist we hate there to wait 45 minutes to view a Capt’n Crunch topped Donut…..Be sure to visit PDX’s iconic Church of Elvis (if the dude is not trippin out on Mescaline).

Would love to take a selfie in front of PHO KING GOOD!

I’m 0/3 this year on the barclay aviator. After a long reconsideration call, which included explaining why I applied for 3 cards in June, I got the denial. The only frustrating part is that I don’t think they did a hard pull on the original application…

Thanks for the data points
Team USA on fire, up 3-0 at halftime over Panama. Wild, wide open game!
Thought Leader says
F me. Panama? I’m pretty sure our local HS teams could thrash Team USA. #pathetic
TBBTheDude says
If you thought Panama was local HS…what would you think of Trinidad & Togago, the next must beat US Opponent?
Peteco says
Big win for Greece and Bosnia helping. Now to wait those UK teams don’t all win and bam! You’ll face maybe Italy! Not an easy road to WC..
TBBTheDude says
Yeah, thanks Belgium!
Getting pretty messy….may not even make it to the playoffs!
TBBTheDude says
Well, there are many depressed people in Ann Arbor today after UofM lost to Michigan State. My son was at the game, just as he was last time when they lost in that still shocking last play. I told him to please stop going to the home games against MSU, wtf!
Actually, I don’t care much about college sports. And I always liked MSU too.
I wish the Detroit Lions do well today. If our running game and pass rush can hold up instead of fading away like they did last year…we would be fine, we actually have some big time playmakers this year, especially on defense!
Going back to UofM. Awesome defense but super sucky offense. Amazing with so many turnovers they still had a chance at the very end. Wow.
Very quiet weekend in the blogs.
I LOVED Blade Runner 2049. For the record!
Peteco says
Scotland tied, things are looking up for Greece!
TBBTheDude says
I think, what that means, with a win we are in, end of story.
Until that is done, I am not celebrating…We lost to Faroe Islands…TWICE.
But that was with the Italian coach nut…who went on to win the English Premier league with Leicester….
Crazy world.
Lions got beat up. Wolverines got beat up. Blue’d in the face, ouch!
