See you in San Diego next week for a blogger conference! Just heads up what’s coming up. Also a few comments and suggestions to improve the TBB experience lol.
TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
I will be attending FinCon16 most of next week, a conference for mostly personal finance bloggers. I last attended it back in 2013 when it was much smaller. I just learned it has 1,200 registered attendees, wow! I am the odd duckling there, a fairly well known financial planner whose blog is about travel hacking while having a general distaste about so many non transparent seedy online business affiliate practices…so it should be interesting to say the least.
It will be very hectic as all conferences usually are but I am taking Sunday off to unwind. If any readers have time to meet Sunday September 25 please contact me.
I am staying at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. Ok, you don’t have to ask. I burned 40,000 SPG Starwood points for a 5 night stay (5th night free) and I am flying Delta with a 25k Skymiles award (yes, they exist!). Naturally, this is what I do, I travel for free while other bloggers excel in selling credit cards 24/7.
I plan to pre schedule some posts later in the week so do not visit if you expect to see the regular Buzz posts. I know this will hurt my blog’s Alexa rankings lol.
Now for some oddz and endz…
Can you help with a reader question below:
Need some help from the community. Wife & I were shutdown by Barclays in July 2015 as they didn’t like our spending. All cards were shut down including Aviator cards. Any chance if we can get approved now(more than a year)?
I have expiring points at Le Club Accor and Hotels.com. Any easy ways to extend their life?
I still have about 3.3 million miles/points! And I have burned 762k year to date. Will I burn over 1 million miles and points for a third year in a row? Click repeatedly to find out 🙂
I wonder what is the lowest income anyone applied for and was approved for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. Anyone?
Yes, the 50k Barclaycard Arrival Plus card is available in my links finally, I guess they take care of the ones with direct affiliate links first and then they get to the low hanging fruit…
What’s on your mind?
And I leave you with this…Just love this one!
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

First.
I’m not sure on his salary, but my friend that I had apply for it through your link was in Medicaid last year. (Married with 3 kids and going out on his own as an insurance agent) so I can’t imagine his income is way up there.

Cool…thanks!

I have no income in the US whatsoever and was approved for a CSP and CSR this year. Go figure.
TBBTheDude says
I doubt you stated $0 as your income though…THAT’s the key number 🙂

Did u see the Richard quest on ms?
TBBTheDude says
Yes…and I am still crying…Isn’t that the guy who did a guest post at Frequent Miler?
We now get the graphs about it….
I was going to post it tomorrow….or maybe I should stay silent and not give this dude any more PR….because, as we all know, he is doing it to help family and friends travel for free….
%^$%&*((^$#^**())^@#$$@@#
And that Richard dude….omg, I literally cover my ears whenever he opens his mouth, he is so LOUD!
I commented at Reddit: “the end is near”.
In the meantime, travel thought leader posted the North Korean passport link…i am sure some reader with last name H. told him about it…
And the crap goes on….

Buzz-
Hold that Sunday post for this important update.
There’s a real crisis over at OMAAT. Ben can’t find an email address to ask the Ritz-Carlton Almaty to pick him up at the airport.
Stay tuned-Ford’s a travel expert and I’m hoping he’ll come up with something. Anything.
GringoLoco says
Ha Sam — I made a comment on that very point. And even a dinosaur like me can usually figure a way via social “media” if push comes to shove. The level of naivete Lucky often exhibits is, um, disheartening.
Meanwhile, Buzz, you have me looking at flight schedules, hotels, etc. SAN is where I grew up — haven’t been back in 6 years. Seeing you IRL would be quite a treat (mine). Stay tuned (you won’t believe what happens next)…
Happy Weekend, #TBBon

Why even bother reading that…Can’t believe he even came back with 8 reasons to get that 50k Amex card…even after all the roasting he got a few days ago…it is clear that blog has surrendered to the man…oh, I mean, dollar!
Ryan says
Lucky got a bit testy over your comment. WHat does he expect having a meltdown over a damn email address?! He should be embarrassed for publicly whining over something I wouldn’t even think twice about. Wonder if he’s the kinda guy who has a bad day if someone puts the toilet paper roll on the wrong way?
TBBTheDude says
@GringoLoco: I looked at the conference agenda more closely and I doubt I will be attending many sessions as it is SO sales oriented omg! Gary Leff and MMS will be there so that shows you what the emphasis is…I’ll probably spend all my time networking with the hot women attendees and at the bar lol. If you can make it, great…That Sunday is relax day for me…Maybe I ‘ll get Mike to come out…now that his groupies are finally letting him breathe a little 🙂

Regarding your Accor points, maybe this still works. I haven’t tried it in a while.

I am speaking in a panel on Thursday. Hope to see you there!

Last time I attended it was 2013. I was surprised to see Noob Traveler presenting. It was in the days of Vanilla Reloads. I was one of the few in attendance. I am surprised to see him pumping along. And I am surprised to see you there. I have not even looked at the agenda! The organizer is aware of our hobby and, most importantly, the cc affiliate route…
I hope I see you there. Andy the Lazy Traveler is going too. Did you sign up for the Trade Kings party, that should be a blast.
See you there!
TBBTheDude says
Just looked on the agenda…You are on the stage with Gary Leff and MMS…I think I should probably go to another session, way too early in the morning to get angry!
Or…I am going to have my ?s ready for Q&A…Last time it was Noob, now it is these two…u cant believe who will show up next!
Looks like this will be the final year I attend…They all have orgasms when the word affilate is mentioned, lol.
TBBTheDude says
Phuckme, the session is sponsored by NEFE, National Association for Financial Education…If they only knew these two are TOP promoters/pumpers of credit cards!
What the hell were they thinking?

Buzz-
There’s education, and then there’s education.
There’s an old joke about one day when Groucho Marx answered his doorbell. A very comely young woman was there and told him she was selling magazine subscriptions to pay her way through college.
Groucho told her: “Do come in. I don’t need any magazines, but I am certain that I can contribute to your education”.
TBBTheDude says
Very funny!

To extend the hotels.com points, book a cheap (many are <$7 p/n) Eastern European hostel night and (obviously) no-show. You'll renew the points.
