I had a very long day flying Southwest from Detroit to St. Louis to LAX. And going on only three hours of sleep. I am staying at the Fairmont Miramar on Thursday night which is beautiful. I am going to take it easy and enjoy the property and all my dining certificates on Friday before heading over to the Radisson at LAX. Frequent Flyer University is on this weekend!
So….the blog posts will definitely be on the light side this weekend!
The Points Guy has a fantastic article on “My 8 Predictions If a 2013 Delta SkyMiles Devaluation Happens” The only disagreement I have is the word “If” should be replaced with “When”. I am done with Delta and Platinum benefits. I will be a DL Silver, a nobody after years of being either a Gold or Platinum. I am looking to unload the remaining miles asap! This airline has insulted my intelligence one way too many times…I have had enough! I have been saying this for many years, I am finally doing it…just like this blog too! I just move slow, what can I say? I remember in the Frequent Traveler Awards during Star Mega Do 2 I sat at a table along with Brian the Points Guy and a very nice Skymiles executive. I was so shocked that there was even a Skymiles person invited and jokingly told him “What are you doing here?”. Before I knew it…he had lined up for the buffet line. I am telling you, these Skymiles people are different, so selfish! Last year I wanted to fly to Greece… I just went on United’s website and in less than 10 minutes I had my award ticket. I did not even bother with Delta…I don’t have the time to do what Delta Points does…I should NOT have to go through this torture! And Delta has not fixed this because they do not want to spend the money to fix it because….suckers spend 60k Skymiles for economy class to Orlando….Ok, that was a mini rant. I wish we could go back to the good old Northwest days but we can’t.
Looks like the Chase British Airways Visa for 100k BA miles is back on! It requires $20k minimum spend to get all 100k miles, wow! I think this is the highest spend we have even seen? I wonder what we will see when affiliate links are released for this version:-) Most of us had this card already so it may be a stretch going for it again. I will tell you my experience when I attempted to get it for a 2nd time: I applied for another BA Executive Club number. I applied for the card with this second number. When I received my card it had on it my ORIGINAL BA number, I was shocked! After repeatedly talking to Chase, they never budged and never gave me another 100k. I ended up canceling the card shortly thereafter and ate the credit inquiry. I did not file a lawsuit about it, I moved on:-) So…Chase is not Citibank or Barclays, ok? Of course, exceptions happen. I mean, DansDeals probably has had 8 of them already, lol. Anyways, I am spread thin on Chase cards anyway so this is not one TBB is going to be getting anytime soon, just fyi.

Million Mile Secrets again comes out of left field and posts “How to Enter Shorter Airport Security Lines Without Elite Status, Flying in First Class or Credit Cards” I am very sleepy now and I am not going to comment on this. But I found some of the comments to be a great read, especialy by Marathon Man and HansGolden. I could have used this today flying Southwest but I didn’t (and I am Delta Platinum). So there!

I can’t decide whether that MMS thread was especially pathetic because of his sense of lying entitlement, or especially refreshing because it was the first time in months that he had a post which wasn’t about affiliate link pimping, a trip report that nobody cares about (at least Lucky is a good writer), Bluebird copy/past’s from FM or a softball interview with a blogger nobody ever heard of

So many great quips, my favorite is the Dan’s Deals joke but the Delta buffet line perfectly sums up their style.
