33 Surreal Places on Earth You Won’t Believe Exist. By Dashburst. I may have featured this before but frankly I don’t remember and am too lazy to search for it. Hopefully some new readers can check out these places. Sorry I have no month long lessons to attack your eye sockets proving to you of my “expertise” and pumping you with credit card affiliate links.
Point Princess has a new home at Prior2Boarding and says hello. She recently returned from a backpacking trip in Southeast Asia and moved here from First2Board.
Hack My Trip reviews the T-Mobile Simple Choice Plan for International Travelers. Very helpful as I am looking around too. I have been with Sprint for ever and now with their new moronic sounding “Framily” plan I am paying way too much for three lines.
Demon Customers: Why big companies let us run amok. By Personal Finance Digest. Great explanation for this and love the ending “Corporate dysfunction–make it work for you!”. I say HELL YEAH to that!
Cranky Flier interviews Hawaiian Airlines’ CEO. Some true original and good content folks, getting pretty hard to find these days! Click my Amazon link it’s on top of the post, you know I appreciate it lol.
For you Warren Buffets out there, this is a great article on “10 can’t-fail lessons of diversification“.
10 Insanely Dangerous Airports Around the World. At THE CHIVE.
The Rock of Gibraltar Levanter Cloud. At Twisted Sifter. Well, learned something new from this.
These are the most bizarre Dad photos I have seen, WTF! At Seenox which bills itself as the “Ultimate Time Waster Website”. I posted a mild one, the rest are hilarious!

I used it for that “Kill Bill” song. Keep forgetting to bring it back, sorry.

Hi guys, need to hit the bed before midnight, that’s a first!
Hey Yanni, you show up here at the 2.00 mark with the Greek Gods discussing the Greek Economy:

Slow news day, eh? Sad when 000s of feedly stuff only yield goats jumping a hay stack :p
The common man says
Thats TBB’s way of saying this hobby has jumped the shark
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yeah…very slow…I don’t bother even reading stuff like TPG’s “how could credit card applications affect your credit score?” and yet another MMS credit card moronic credit card pump (the plum card, really?)…
too many blogs…too much crap…most of it repeated…zzzzz
Baby Goats rule!
Nick @ Personal Finance Digest says
All the action in chasing good credit card deals used to be in forums, then it moved to blogs, maybe it’s moving back to forums now?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Sure looks like it…
Oliver2002 says
Nah, it’s slow because of summer, plus Q3 cc signup targets are not due yet.
ABC says
When does Chase/AMEX hand out the sales targets to the pimps?
Oliver2002 says
AFAIK you have to do 50+ chase referrals a month on average with opportunities to catch up in certain intervals. I’m assuming the interval is a quarter…

I love the picture of the Temple of Poseidon with the full moon, that one was awesome. I was there during a hazy day in late March, and I played around with the lighting a lot — It’s such a beautiful place to photograph. This one I actually took with my iPhone: http://i62.tinypic.com/35mfbki.jpg
TravelBloggerBuzz says
As soon as I saw that pic I knew it belonged here…
Greece has lots of faults but still remains…beautiful
Adam K says
Indeed, it’s an amazing country, and it’s inspiring to see the Greek people who have been through so much and yet still keep a welcoming smile. Don’t get me started on using the public buses to reach Sounion from Athens though!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Oh yeah the public buses…this one and the electric company are one of the strongest union infested places still terrorizing Greek citizens (I am not anti union per se….it’s just that the Greek unions are full of corrupt militant anti capitalist communist jackasses…they are being slowly demolished….emphasis on slowly)

Slow news is good news for me today since I need to get organized to go to A2 for the DO. My first time back since – yikes! – 1981! Street names remain familiar but my mental map is very sketchy. We’ll be catching up with old friends as well as hopefully making some new ones at the DO. Got my postcard from Drew and Carrie even though I told them it wasn’t necessary. Looking forward to meeting them in person.
In other news, it is shaping up to be a very bad wild fire season in Oregon. And it apparently will be cooler in A2 than in PDX this weekend. I remember lots of very hot art fairs but the forecast for this year sounds perfect. Here’s hoping we can sleep on the redeye and then hit the ground running.
PS – If you don’t know who Drew is, you won’t know Carrie either! 😉
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Bring a light jacket as it sure is not a typical heat fest Art Fair!
Got a card too by some people named Drew and Carrie, do you know who they are?
See you soon!
Steve says
Man, the fine print on Lucky’s credit card posts sure got awfully small….
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Holy crap, need a new and improved magnifying glass to read that! Don’t like the new look of the blog, those airplane windows on top remind me….jail cell windows or something!
Ramsey says
Buzz I do not know what possessed me (boredom) but I looked at MMS today and he is giving out tips on how to get money for your cab fare by returning stray airport luggage assist carts to get back a quarter. Next he will be giving tips on where to look for bottles and cans for the return $. Hey MMS leave those carts for the homeless and down and out. I just wish he had a picture of Emily returning a cart and holding up her quarter for the camera.
RAMSEY says
Part 2 is about getting free clothes from bags that are not removed from a spinning luggage carousel.
The common man says
I made a comment on that post asking whether it is worth getting a Chase Sapphire Preferred card if it would mean I could get 2X points for paying for the cart. Deleted! 🙂
Kenny says
I’ve done that! I think I was 8 or 10 at the time, and wanted a pack of baseball cards or something…
TravelBloggerBuzz says
His argument will likely be:
Oh those haters. I pump credit cards they get mad. I do not pump credit cards they get mad. They are so angry, they are full of hate, they are just the .2%. Sounds familiar?
That was just a ridiculous post…but hey, it helps the brand of “secrets” and “hey, I am just like you trying to save a buck” blah blah blah
Why do people support these bloggers is beyond me! They get legitimized attending “seminars” of travel hackers while they sell cards and junk like this.
Eeeeeek
Disgusted…
The common man says
PMM is the new MMS. Sneaking into hotel pools without actually staying at the hotel. wtf.
Up next – siphoning gas from the Hertz rental car parking lot without actually renting.
smittytabb says
I am speechless. Seriously, sneaking into pools? If there were ever anything that convinced me we need some better quality content out there, this is it. Time to consider jumping into the mix, but not into the pool.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
PMM still wonders why they are in the Blogs I Ignore list…
Raffles says
Ironically I once used that pool without staying there! I was at the Waldorf and wanted a swim so I asked if they had any deals with local health clubs and said no. I knew the Millennium had a pool as I had stayed there before so I got them to ring down and they said it would be fine. When I arrived, though, I do remember nobody asking me anything – I just wandered in. This is a long time ago now ….
It's me says
Apparently DP has a post about how awful FT is. As I refuse to go to the BA pimpland I will leave it to George to go and report back. Good luck and Godspeed.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Every time I read DP I shake my head. Note: I read it in Feedly! Sometimes I go over to see if anyone commented to give more practice to my neck muscles 🙂
TWA44 says
I don’t read DP but did appreciate his quick twitter reply that Delta is not usually a stickler on carry-on bag size. Every one of the bags that we use for carry-on are too big according to the newest regs and tonight’s flight will be the first time we fly with them. I plan to just go from the curb to TSA to the gate and hope they let us carry-on. I also hope you all don’t think that falls into the category of sneaking into pools or returning bag carts 😉 !
TravelBloggerBuzz says
In case it doesn’t….I am sure DP will propose his amazing Barclay Arrival credit card link as he can no longer get paid with Amex credit card links 😉

Source.
I’m just an Eyeore these days, but I think there’s still plenty of room in the blogosphere, whatever amorphous form it takes, to explore issues of sustainability and the ethics of travel. Bloggers in this hobby are not terribly self-aware, let alone aware of the implications of their actions on others. (Anyone want to write a trip report for a trip to Kiribati? Better hurry up.) Of course, pointing out that going to the beach in the Outer Banks is equal to or better than going to the beach in the Maldives doesn’t sell credit cards as effectively.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Sustainability and selling credit cards will likely never be a good fit lol.
Nick @ Personal Finance Digest says
Through sheer dumb luck, I stumbled upon the news article source of one of those weird dad photos:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-486319/Husband-gets-870-life-size-tattoo-wife–discovers-having-affair.html
You can probably figure out what happened from the URL.

Lol…priceless. “Latvian hunk” Lol
I was never into this tattoo stuff…Shaking my head…Talk about a loser lol

Micro-rant, because I fell off the wagon:
A few weeks ago, Ariana of PointsChaser and FTG stopped by the comments here to decry the negative treatment FTG gets from TBB and its commenters. She received some responses and some unfortunate sexist condescension (pro tip, you jerks: don’t call an adult “sweetie”).
Here’s the root problem: there’s no quality control and no value-added at FTG. I’d like to constructively suggest better editing and more effort.
Here’s Howie’s post on the Finger Lakes Travel Challenge, which I clicked on from Flyertalk because I live in western New York:
There are grammar mistakes. There are sentence fragments. The first two or three sentences are pablum that could equally apply to Virginia, Chicago, and many other places. In short, it’s a sloppy credit card advertisement written and edited by people who don’t seem to care. (By the way, the best restaurants and accommodations in the Finger Lakes are in Ithaca, Hammondsport, and Geneva. I have no idea why one would stay at a Microtel in Seneca Falls.)
It’s baffling to be asked to respect such a product or its authors.
I don’t care much for MMS, for example, but it’s obvious that he puts effort into his blog.
Try harder, and USERNAME might be less critical.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
The FTG team is doing a Rookie boot camp seminar. Get this…only 100 attendees to “hold conversations” LOL. No word if a Chase Bank employee will be on hand for them “recon” calls. I guess they realized it was stupid to let the newbies get picked apart in Chicago so they are all going to…attack them by sharing with them their “secrets”. No word if Howie will have a special presentation on Avios LOL.
I would put the FT link to this here but I am not going to give them that benefit of the doubt.
Just a masterful credit card selling operation outfit. You still have the credit card “Tool” on the FTG homepage saying crap like this:
“Apply for all 7 cards credit cards on the same day….Because you’re married, both you and your spouse should apply for the same cards to receive double the rewards!”
I am not angry 🙂
The common man says
I think there is a typo here. Clearly they meant “hold conversions”…i.e., they will hold you hostage until you click on their cc links 🙂

I felt bad for Ariana back when she was commenting here because her comments seemed to be logical, intelligent and sincere. I disagreed with a lot of what she said but I admired her showing up and stating her well-written case. It must be tough for a quality person to work for a guy who goes on public boards calling people ‘douche bags’
Anonymous says
Who called who a douche bag?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I have been called worse names before here. I think it’s kind of funny actually.
Ariana goes along with pumping credit cards, it’s what pays her.
I find the FTG site content….well I better not say it here because people will think I am angry or something. Let’;s just say it is proudly featured in the TBB Blogs to Ignore!
Sam says
If I was mistaken regarding what Rick has posted here, I hope someone will correct the record, and I would be happy to apologize. But one e word used or not hardly changes the essence of the posts overall.
