We go on a rant about being pumped to pieces in this horribly conflicted space, we are called “The Gamers” by a bank & watch an amazing plane crash video!
TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
This site is AD-FREE! You can support it by applying for CREDIT CARDS, shopping with our AMAZON AFFILIATE LINK and clicking/forwarding any of our REFERRAL LINKS. Thank you for your support!
Matt over at Saverocity had a really good post on “The concept of DOL Fiduciary rule as it applies to Credit Card sales“. Just be careful out there. All the cheery posts about how bloggers travel for free littered with affiliate links are PRIMARILY designed to sell credit cards and pump the bloggers’ pockets! They are not posted to help YOU first! You can rest assured if the dinero was not there they would not see the light of day!
Get educated, do your homework. Do NOT trust bloggers, especially ones who keep pumping you repeatedly to the tune of dozens of the same DIRECT affiliate credit card links every day. There is nothing free here folks. Yes, it could be or the costs could be greatly minimized of course. But it is almost never free. Unless you value your time as being worthless.
I have a dream: Everyone who dispenses financial advice (including weapons of debt destruction/credit cards) is licensed after passing rigorous tests and, this is important, is held out as a FIDUCIARY. Yeah, good luck with that….Don’t be a sucker.
The personal finance bloggers are now discovering the mucho dinero from pumping travel rewards credit cards. Watch this space get even more ridiculous. In a way, it is good to see the Titans sweat some more and get more ridiculous in reaching new target markets…
Why some bloggers will sell anything that moves when others feel it is wrong to even include ONE affiliate link in the body of the post? And if they do include that one link, they have the proper disclosures ON TOP and next to it to inform readers the link will make them money? When the first group never bothers with ANY disclosures anywhere in the body of the post (while burying them or not in a place in the website where nobody looks)? Fascinating behavioral study to do one day, any social scientists out there? Is it greed? Is it personal ethics? Values? Moral hazard levels? Douche-bag-iness standards? Discuss.
We have all been suffering in this hobby in the past few years with so many industry consolidations, award devaluations, fee increases, bank shutdowns and on and on. We even had banks and airlines call us out by name. Remember how Alaska Airlines blamed us for the Emirates Awards fiasco? Anyways, it is rough out there. And then we get this bank to specifically call us “The Gamers” in the Wall Street Journal. Oh Dear God, may I have another? #screaming
Thanks to reader Dave H. for sending this link. This is a video of an actual plane crash. This is what actually happens. Ok, you are not going to watch the whole thing most likely. So watch after minute 45. They crashed this plane to study what happens in an actual crash. Fascinating!
And I leave you with this…
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

Golden Sundays are better than golden showers.
Trust me.

Someone had a more exciting Saturday night than I. Silver!
FullMoon says
If AmEx wasn’t targeting “the gamers” it would not assign lucrative affiliate links to its pimps.
And I personally am…relieved…my Saturday night apparently wasn’t as exciting as Gringo’s.

To grill or not to grill…
Especially when you have rib leftovers from Texas Roadhouse…
That is the question…

If it’s not snowing in MI, it’s a good day to grill!
Now to try and use those AA miles… Damn is it hard compared to UA, and I won’t get into what an abomination of a web site/on-line partner redemption AA has… Sheesh!

Full Moon, Golden Showers.
Is TBB available in North Carolina?
TBBTheManHimself says
If every one of my links that makes it to View From the Wing (usually HTing Alan H.) was a CSP conversion I would be a Titan!
So true about booking awards on the United website vs dealing with AA!
Not sure abt the references regarding the showers and North Carolina you guys.
I am going to watch the Pistons avoid the broom….I hope so anyway.

I used to dispatch that 727 11-12 years ago, it was a former Champion Air bird. (I’ve flown in that plane (in the cockpit) at least once, probably more) It’s a little bit sad to me to see a beautiful plane like that run aground 🙁 grrrr
