Welcome Million Mile Secrets readers!
I am kidding, relax. Slim pickings again, so here we go on our eclectic journey through the blogosphere…
Interesting article in the mainstream media: Here is how banks can offer travel rewards credit cards like the Sapphire Reserve with enormous sign-up bonuses and still turn a profit. Nothing new really we don’t know. But two figures stand out: 20% of credit card holders will end up carrying a balance. If you are ever going to do that, YOU are the reason we travel hackers travel for FREE on YOUR dime, wake up! The other number is: 20% of the rewards will go unused. I say it is probably the ones carrying balances! Can you imagine seeing any of these credit card salesmen saying NOT to buy a credit card form them…ever? Lol
How to find great business class fares with Google flights. Have you noticed how you are seeing more and more posts about business class fares you BUY lately? Coupled with lower fare deals coming out all the time and still deceptively enticing low fares by Low Cost Carriers…wait…couple all these with the much more inflated awards that we have endured upon the last several years…and you must wonder where all this is going. Well, to a place probably we won’t like #revenuebasedburning. Ok, I lost my train of thought…Long paragraph already, so I press Enter now!
I have been using ITA Matrix to play around with available fares, it has always been my go to site. I can get some ideas of available carriers on a certain flight, schedules, stops and of course prices. I had looked at Google flights some time ago and I did not like it. But it appears the site is getting better and maybe it is time for another look. For those who don’t know this already, Google bought the ITA Matrix company several years ago.
There is an Alliant cash back credit card that earns 3% cash back in the first year for everything and 2.5% after that. But it does have a $59 annual fee after the first year. No foreign transaction fees too. It may be a good fit for some of you. If this one had an affiliate link and paid bloggers you will hear A LOT MORE about it, I guarantee it. View From the Wing may do a post “27 Things I Like About the Alliant Cashback Visa card” ๐
Best Airports In The World. Doesn’t it seem like there is a new list like this out every week or so? I can not believe Frankfurt is on it, I never liked transiting there. And Seoul ICN too…my time through there I swear I bumped to so many people it was ridiculous!
A company will start giving tours of the Titanic next year, wow! If you guys get your whole family tree to click on my links and/or fund my new Kickstarter campaign to buy me the ticket…I promise to do a trip report for you. Ok, that was a joke. But the price tag of this thing is not. You are ready? Please sit down: $105,129 per person. Phucking A to Z!
The US government just declassified an archive of never-before-seen nuclear tests and the footage is amazing, BOOM!
This is a must click! A timeline map of US immigration since 1920. I could be faking my excitement you guys about travel rewards credit cards that pay me but I just can’t…oh wait, this is not the BLOG BUZZ section lol.
For the personal finance link of the day, lets do something different. Let’s talk about the millennials. 12 Things Millennials Aren’t Buying. Interesting list!
It’s been a while but here is another post about travel to North Korea. And I like her writing style and quirky humor as well. My love affair with North Korea.
This section is for advanced level hobbyists and veteran blog readers & personal rants & stuff.
I had a reader inform that she unsubscribed from my email list because the daily email with the post of the day shows the font too small to read. I wonder how prevalent this is and what I can do to fix it. It likely affects certain browsers only? #clueless
To the reader who got the SPG credit card with my links, congrats! You are FIRST this month, thank you! If you carry a balance…I have failed! I know you don’t ๐
If I had used this route I would probably have more sales. Oh, I mentioned that to Mrs. TBB and she was not too pleased about it. ๐
Miles and Points hobby now vs Miles and Points hobby in the old days…
If you want to earn some miles, check out this post about the Barclaycard Travel Community. I had looked at that some time ago, added a few stories, it was not worth my time, especially after I had tech issues posting pictures so I gave up. It may be worth it for you?
Every day pumping credit cards with the highest sales commission…I guess I could have some clicks too if I pandered or kissed ass of the big bloggers like so many other bloggers do!

I’m noticing that Gary lately pushes that his
readerssuckers should always be spending towards meeting a signup bonus spend”.It’s a subtle way to push more conversions, no?

About that small font issue. I have a horrible time reading the email on my phone because of the font (I use the iOS native mail app). I usually wait to read your post on my laptop because my 40+ year old eyes can actually see the letters.

I had the same thoughts about mobile pr0n. Never thought it would take off. But then the screens just kept getting bigger and bigger.
TBBTheDude says
Yeah, I think it has to do with the mobile phones and small screens…I think.
I have the same issue with my big Samsung Note 5 screen so…hmmm…maybe I do the preview thingie and make you guys click on it so you can visit my page and improve my Alexa rankings and maybe Amex and Chase invites me to tag along with The Points Guy entourage ๐

About the newsletter: if you have an RSS feed reader that works, you don’t need a daily email. (Unless TBB is giving something *extra* to his loyal email followers, of course.)
TBBTheDude says
I have never done an extra email other than blog posts…
Maybe I should…so I can grow my list and the monetize it….as every blog expert guru says ๐
