Blogosphere is so slow in the weekends! This is my shortest post ever in the history of TBB…yeah, it was THAT slow!
TRAVEL
NASA’S Ladee Launch from the top of NYC Rockfeller’s Center. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lenticular Travel on Surreal Shanghai.
I think The Selfish Years are killing it with their latest blog posts: The Selfish’s Top 10 Biggest Letdowns and The Do’s of Traveling. I may not agree with everything but most of these are pretty good points.

Hilton Gold status for free. By View from the Wing. You are responsible for your actions.
Apparently lots of people booked a business class plane ticket to Qatar. If the departure was Detroit I may had considered it. Starting off in some East Asian country, excuse me, I just can not afford to take the time. For what, to make higher Elite? #beentheredonethat.
Late on Sunday, I saw this from Travel Summary with Singapore Airlines Business Class on A380 space available on United.com.
ON MY MIND
TBB Buzz goes on an every other day schedule. Walked into a minefield with new business, need to wear my bomb squad uniform! Attack, attack, attack and defuse the mines/bombs duty is on! I may post some thoughts to keep my daily posting so…keep checking π
The Detroit Lions are 1-0, hooray! 15 more wins to go to shock the planet!

Ten Reasons I am a Funeral Director. Because you always wanted to know. High quality blog about, well, a fascinating and unusual job!
BLOG BUZZ
It is a deflating feeling when you take the time to post a comment on a blog and it does not post instantly. This does not happen here. It is a restriction on self-expression in my opinion!
Bloggers take the weekends off selling credit cards.Β Except Milevalue and Delta Points who blogs about smelly carpets and throws out a few softball questions to another BA blogger. So, is there an actual fireside chat or is it done by email or Skype? Does only TBB care? π And my biggest fan FTG (the man) just can’t stop reading my blog and giving me ideas which I ignore as I clearly don’t have the time for them as TBB is just not that high on my priority list. At least not yet π
The First3Board bloggers had their own conference/sessions at Charleston and from the buzz online it was a success. They already have targeted Seattle for 2014.
And I leave you with this:

Didn’t do the Qatar mistake fare either. Not worth it imo.

I agree

Love me some Tebow.
As a Lions fan, are you a Suh proponent or is he more trouble than he is worth?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
That’s a rough subject. No wonder the guy is talented and the sky is the limit. I think part of his “thing” is his reputation for a dirty player. And I think it is well deserved. The Pistons had Laimbeer and Mahorn, the bad boys. I loved the guys. I do not love Suh. But nothing I can do about it.
Did Tebow land a job in the CFL?
Mark says
We have our own diva, Richard Sherman, who doesn’t play out of control but his mouth is out of control. And he had the whole adderall thing last year, which it seems tons of players in the NFL are on now. Suh is very talented. I think your Lions will make the playoffs, but somebody needs to get Suh under control cuz you’re right his reputation makes him more likely to get flagged and it will hurt you in a big game at some point.

I’m sick and tired of all of the whining about blogs killing deals. I’m angry at a lot of the credit card pimping, but if there’s one thing they are good for it’s sharing information. I learn about these deals from blogs. I am not a member of the secret clubs. Care to invite me? Then I will go on hating the bloggers like some of you do.
VFTW broke the news on the QR PNH-DOH-SGN fare. It wasn’t posted on FT or Milepoint before that. oliver2002 then posted it to FT. Lots of recriminations by a few people that already apparently knew about this fare months. There’s even talk about how VFTW “killed the deal” even though it seems to still be alive. Jumping the gun a bit?. Is it fair to trash a blogger for sharing a deal that they (said they) found themselves, that was not even posted on FT?
It’s a very important question, all of this secret sharing, all of the exclusion in the community. I don’t even just say that because I am one of the excluded ones. There’s an incredible sense of elitism and entitlement and that’s the opposite of the kind of community that I used to think we had on FT.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
You make some great points. The community has expanded greatly in the past several years and the influence of the blogs on it has been phenomenal (and detrimental to the “sense” of community that existed). So, lots of deals that existed in obscure FT threads are now not as prevalent on FT because the bloggers are always looking for material and way to increase eyeballs. I think it is a fact that blogs do kill deals and…there is not much we can do about that these days. It is how this whole hobby has evolved.
There is a very fine line which deal to publicize in a blog or not. It is subjective. It is personal judgment. Others make a lot of fuss about a deal, others not. I do not make a fuss about the QR “deal”.
I am actually getting a little bored about the same arguments. It is reality as it is affiiate credit cards influencing content left and right.
TBB does not out deals. I am not in the business of doing this. Actually, I am not in this business at all lol.
>>>>>>>Thereβs an incredible sense of elitism and entitlement and thatβs the opposite of the kind of community that I used to think we had on FT.
I agree with this statement. Still holding I think but definitely not what it used to be.
Oliver2002 says
I posted it on FT after reading it on VFTW (and gave due credit) π It seems Gary posted it om MP.
All these 5th freedom tag ons have these routing errors once in a while, the first I heard about it was in 2005 with SIN(-FRA-SIN-)CGK going for 800$ in LH F, it repeats every 1-2 years.
Hindsight maybe 20/20, but I don’t remember FT to ever be this warm fuzzy sharing community. Maybe it was 1998-2002, but since I joined you always had to know someone, build trust, share what you know and THEN the infos flowed freely, but still within the circle of trust.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yes yes, all that AFTER you paid your dues π
Oliver2002 says
Not much buzz in the comments today… π
Love the fake angries commenting on the PNH SGN fares…

Yes, Gary keeps this up TBB may not be the blog with THE comments that are most entertaining π

“Dear Lucky and MommyPoints,
Thanks again for promoting the SPG Amex so over-the-top heavily over the past month. As a token of our appreciation, here are some comped vacations and experiences to go along with the affiliate commission. Rest assured, we’re doing this out of the goodness of our heart and not to buy your support, as it’s obvious your objectivity is not compromised at all and would’ve heavily pushed the card over the extra 5,000 points even if we didn’t offer you a dime or free trip”
Sincerely,
Amex and SPG
P.S. You’re welcome for the minor change to the Business PRG which gave you an excuse to push that too
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yeah, really! Oh look giving away points too, so generous!
Steve says
It’s a continuous cycle
the bloggers shill Amex and SPG’s products, Amex and SPG give them points to “give away” which in turn will lure tons of new readers to the bloggers sites who the bloggers will then….. you guessed it…. pimp Amex and SPG’s products to
Amex is doing what they can to get more people to the sites that incessantly shill for their products. And give enough affiliate $$$ and free trips for it (along with all the new readers coming because of said points), and the bloggers will be more than happy to partake in that cycle
It’s not a coincidence that Ric Garrido never seems to be invited back to his comped junkets while OMAT, MP and others get a revolving door of SPG offers
Andy Rooney Ramsey says
(to be read using Andy Rooney’s voice)… Blogrolls. Did you ever wonder about Blogrolls? I often do. I often wonder why a blog would post a link to another blog competing for eyeballs and affiliate links. Of course’ many are affiliated with each other thru BA or F2B. But others are not. Wanna be’s I’m sure. But what I find it curious is that very few have Frequent Miler on their Blogroll. Buzz, can we assume that FM actually offers daily fresh content that is valuable, while others are not feared as a threat offering the same old sh..! (I don’t think Andy would Say sh..)
