Stratos, that credit card tech company shuts down. Sad to see of course because they were based here in Ann Arbor but I am not surprised. Look for the others to fold too…

A certain Thought Leader has been excited about this space since the prerelease of Coin. It’s just a very competitive space with a few giants that will crush cockroaches like Stratos. I’m surprised that they raise so much money, burnt it pretty fast and in the process quickly illustrated that they were unable to deliver their product. Somebody was skilled at selling their story to investors.
I signed up I don’t know how long ago for Swyp and just yesterday got an email That it would likely ship out in April of 2016. Fingers crossed…
The thing about Stratos and its ilk… there really isn’t much demand for that sort of product. Most people don’t have a lot of cards to manage.
I think Nick’s point is right on. Amazing they managed to get all that funding, gave it a good shot, time to move on.
