We ponder whether we are wasting our lives manufacturing spend, briefly thought of joining the Silvercar mega pump, learn about Colorado pot tourism, United raises the requirements on its Elites, hotel occupancy rates are high, marvel at Islamic architecture, and visit links about Space/Rosetta/Comets/ISS.

Are We Wasting Our Lives Manufacturing Spend – Travel Codex Very thoughtful by the Devil. Sorry, Devil’s Advocate I meant 🙂 #sneakyTBB
I have seen so many posts pimping the Silvercar link that I thought about signing up for one myself and then pimping it too. But maybe I should wait until they get to at least 20 cities or something because I am not that greedy I guess.
Pot Tourism in Colorado – Loyalty Traveler Very interesting report on the ground. I think it is a matter of time before we see a pot friendly hotel!
Frugal Travel Guy, in a rage of innovation, did a post titled “Southwest Rewards vs Saphirre Preferred: A Gentleman’s Duel”. Shaking my head. So so deep!
So, United also raised the costs & requirements for Elites. The same exact percentage as Delta. Do these guys copy Delta or what? If all of them start to copy Delta we are all screwed!
One Mile at a Time is taking his dad on a mega trip. Shockingly, we see his dad in a video! Nice touch.
Do you know why most hotel promotions suck? This is why: Occupancy rates are too strong!
‘Astronaut – a Journey to Space’: a Timelapse Odyssey Around Planet Earth in the International Space Station – Dashburst This is the most awesome video I have posted in a long time. Seriously! Holy mother of space!
20+ Mesmerizing Mosque Ceilings That Highlight The Wonders Of Islamic Architecture – Bored Panda Phenomenal pieces of work.
Landing on a Comet, 317 Million Miles From Home – New York Times As many of you I have been transfixed about the Rosetta expedition.
26 HQ Photos by Rosetta and Philae – Twisted Sifter Can’t get enough!

Buzz-
There are already pot friendly BnBs in Colorado-or in the lingo: “420 friendly”, as April 20 is National Smoke Out Day. Actually, you have to smoke in as you can’t just walk around everywhere and get high (except in Boulder, of course) (That was a joke, not legal advice).
More jokes later about how Buzz named his blog. (That was a weak joke).
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Ahhh…that is where the 420 came from then, I always wondered about that!
At the #WestCoastDO we had an attendee who grows it legally and told us some wild stories around the bonfire.
I suggested to the Detroit mayor years ago that he should make Detroit the European Amsterdam before some other city does it. I guess he was too busy stealing money back then to look out for the people 🙂

Fantastic Comet Pictures!

Great photos of so many ceilings in Iran. Can’t imagine I’ll ever get to see them in person unless the world changes dramatically.
Heads up Buzz – just bought 4 Amazon Local restaurant deals through your link. Wasn’t sure it would work for Amazon Local but seemed to work just fine.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I have a feeling there may be a comprehensive deal with Iran that will open up travel/tourism between the two countries. Iran’s economy is hurting big time and they need to make a deal. Or maybe it is wishful thinking by me. I had an Iranian roommate in college and friends. They are very hard working and smart and they all absolutely can’t stand the mullahs!
Thanks for the support. Still hoping to make a darn cc sale. Whoever said it takes a long time for the system to register it sure was not kidding!

George it was wonderful for us to meet you in Phoenix last weekend. Thank you for saving our marriage and helping Lamar get his basketball career back on track!!!…Love K/L
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Oh Lamar you used to be one of my favorite players showing up in one game out of 20. Showed so much potential every 20 games but I guess smoking pot was too good. Enjoy Khloe lol

George, I used your amazon referral link today. Stay angry my friend

Thanks for the support. I am not angry 🙂

Now that the euphoria of being third has worn off, I have to say I have been doing okay on the hotel promo side of things.
I met my last IHG Big Win thresholds and am about to complete Into the Nights. Sure, they sort of botched the execution of the promo, but my second and current offer has a lower bar (three Holiday Inn nights) than the original offer which I probably wouldn’t have completed. IHG has been good to me… I prefer SPG overall but there aren’t enough properties and the IHG promos keep me coming back. I also was lucky enough to use some PointsBreaks nights this year, which I don’t typically plan on being able to do.
Between a couple successful BRG claims, generous promos, and lots of properties, I will remain IHG Plat (okay, I have the cheap card that includes Plat status LOL) but would normally have hit SPG Gold by now. It MIGHT still happen (thanks to award nights counting toward status) but definitely not a sure thing.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Hitting Gold in SPG, I think of it, as number of trips to certain shopping establishments 🙂
“botching the execution” – you nailed it!

Greece 0, Faroe Islands 1. In Athens.
George is getting a little angry!!!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
The result is tragic. But, from everyone at the game, it is a fair result. Which is even more tragic. This is not the team I watched at the World Cup. That coach left, we got an Italian coach with no experience with the Greek league or players. Who wanted to change everything and put his stamp. Every game has been a disaster even bigger than the previous one! The captain kept saying “something must change”. He meant the coach must go, he has pissed everyone off and confused even himself! But the big minds in the national federation gave him a big contract so letting him go gets them on the hook for many millions. He said “I am not resigning”…tranlating—-> Pay me my money to go away. OMG what a fiasco! This is like Appalachian State beating MIchigan in the Big House but 10 times worse. I did not watch the game because that would make me really angry…
From the top (one PK away from reaching the Final 8 in the World Cup) to losing to Faroe Islands at home (and they should have had more goals!). Unbelievable!
