The Top 25 Credit Cards. It all starts here…
If you ever read any posts by bloggers screaming at you to get the Southwest Companion Pass by transferring hotel points (while trying to sell you credit cards of course….they could care less about you getting the Companion Pass, looking at you The Points Chase Guy!), it looks like yet another loophole is shut, thanks bloggers! Now watch how they bitch about no advance warning while still trying to sell you credit cards! %$#$#(*@ And oh boy have they been bitching lol. I mean, isn’t this completely ridiculous or what? Thank you Southwest for allowing this to go on for so long, I guess the recent hotel transfer rush made you pay attention to…your shareholders! They ‘ll just whine a little and the biggest bloggers would go on selling credit cards as usual #sameold
If you were told by a big blogger to transfer SPG points to Southwest…you just got screwed, tell them to reimburse you lol or stop reading them!!!
Very interesting post by one of the Skift writers with his picks of the airlines and hospitality that stood out. Best doorman? Best hotel gym? Most interesting hotel bar? Click to find out, you won’t believe what happens next some of his picks!
After Delta got sued by its employees for a sucky 401k, it is Starwood’s turn. Lol.
Famous last words of 18 famous people. I guess they forgot #19 by The Points Guy: “Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve? Get Both!”
This next link concerns Romans and flying penis amulets. Since my blog deals with flying, I thought it was appropriate. Management decided to bypass posting any pics lol. This will never make into a Titan post because, I mean, how can you convert/make money off your readers with something like this compared to making yet another post about the “10 best reasons to get the _____________ credit card! <——-They never forget the exclamation mark!
Andy’s 10 favorite pictures from 2016. His pictures are epic!
Ever since I was a kid, I really enjoyed outdoor cinemas as we grew up close to one in Larisa, Greece. There are not that many left around the world. Every time I am in my hometown I try to catch as many as I can, there is nothing like it. Anyways, this site documents the world’s endangered cinemas.
The 52 Best – And Weirdest – Charts. These are awesome and we do like weird around here…a lot!
The Travel Codex forums are closing…
Well, it’s a new year so I guess I better get more airline credits. I think I am going to change my airline from Southwest to AA so I could be getting 50% of my Membership Rewards points back when booking with points with Amex Travel.
And I leave you with this…

Wow! 2 days in a row… that never happens!
Soon there won’t be anything to blog about, only closed loopholes and which Chase card should you have…. ALL of them is the right Titananswer…

I’m here. I may not have been first today but I did use your Amazon link to buy an obscenely priced tea kettle! I’ll be back to the grind on the 4th. Keep it real!

“obscenely priced” – Yeah, sure beats the 92 cents my site earned on the first day of 2017. The sky is the limit…
Stop laughing Rick 🙂

I had my companion pass for almost 2 years after the last 140k bonus from the Ritz card. (Still haven’t found a use for the hotel nights) But have never had either of the southwest cards.
1. I saw a lot of comments about losing respect for southwest because of no notice. I disagree, and I respect them more for calling it out as a loophole.
2. Lots of commenters claiming that bloggers didn’t ruin this deal. Who are these people? Anyone paying attention knew from the first post about transferring 90k spg to Marriott that the deal was doomed.
3. And people are pissed off because they planned on doing it sometime this week and are now left with useless Marriott points. I’ll gladly take them and use them for Alaska or United miles. They could’ve done the deal a week ago and had the companion pass for a full year, but they had to be greedy. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.
RIP companion pass. If only we could hold a trial for your murder.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Brenton, this comment is just MVC (Most Valuable Comment) material.
Bingo!
I agree with all of it.
I may post it in the body of the post tomorrow….U know what this means right? When that buyout offer comes I’ ll reward you with…royalties lol.
Weird Monday today…

What about loyalty traveler on your list? He has a lot of great stuff daily, and all pretty original/not found elsewhere.

I took LT and AFAR down in the latest update. Readers come first! LT has added an onslaught of so MANY airfare deal posts. I understand the reasons behind it but I just don’t want my readers to go there to read these posts. I love the guy, I hope he is not upset in losing six clicks per year from me 🙂
AFAR: Was thinking about it and then they had a post about a credit card they can not live with quoting Lucky and TPG, WTF!
MileageUpdate says
Both Pigs and Hogs get slaughtered. One of the dumbest sayings ever. I
TravelBloggerBuzz says
But hogs die more painfully 🙂
Brenton says
It’s an idiom. Has anyone ever actually given you a penny for your thoughts? Read up!
http://www.smart-words.org/quotes-sayings/idioms-meaning.html
And teacup pigs don’t get slaughtered.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Loved that link, TBB worthy!
MileageUpdate says
Aware of the meaning of it and its still a subjective and stupid saying
Brenton says
Haters gonna hate.
I’m not sure that qualifies as an idiom, but it means that some people are going to bitch no matter what. Additionally, we all started this “hobby” knowing we were taking advantage of loopholes. But after whatever length of time, we start to feel privileged, like we’re owed more and more, even though we appreciate it less and less. We may be at the top of our game, but in the long run the house always wins.
#idiomed
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Oh yeah…”start to feel privileged”…so true.
Had a multi year run in domestic flights turning left…I thought I was special or something lol.
MileageUpdate says
its because its subjective. You and I dont know each others level of what we are doing so how could someone honestly say who is being a pig vs hog. You might be doing a million of something while Im doing a thousand. Whos to say whats what and how much is too little or too much. If there was a simple formula that said x is enough then maybe. My skinny cow could be your hog etc etc.
Brenton says
I think you’re talking about individuals doing their own thing, their own leg work, etc…
I’m talking about the first dozen articles of how to transfer 90k spg into marriott for 2 years of companion pass. The deal was on its death bed the second those started.
You can shear a sheep many times but you can skin him only once.

What’s wrong with Cocker Spaniel !? Smelly ears I bet….
Question, is there any flight deal search tool where you can set an automatic notice if there’s a price drop in a period of time? I have used google flights , but you can only set alarms for specific flights. If I wanna, say, a cheap flight from A to B in May, not sure how to approach it. I just check every few days through Ita or Google flights, but there has to be a better way.
Also, unrelated, is there any rule for Amex applications, similar to Citi’s 2/65? Read somewhere once every 90 days, but there’s conflicting info about that.
thanks
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I may add these questions to the post tomorrow…they are great. Anyone?
If I remember…I am buried in year end/quarter end work!
Oliver2002 says
Google Flights will also alarm you for price drops for general search results.
Peteco says
Could you elaborate? Haven’t been able to find that functionality. Thanks!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Oliver2002’s first guest post on TBB? #hint
Will take care of you when TPG buys me out lol.
Oliver2002 says
I see ‘Track price’ just above the results when I do a simple or complex search. This is just after the first step. If you activate the slider there, you get a alert if any of the prices for that trip change for any airline/routing.
Muerl says
At the risk of Self promotion, http://www.hopper.com/ will do most of this on your smart phone. Its focused on single origin / destination, however if something adjacent to your dates shows up we will likely notify you. “London in May” is a feature we are working on, but its not production ready just yet.

I remember from my childhood that in the late ’80s everybody had a cocker spaniel. A surprisingly high number of the dogs were named “Buffy” for some reason. Never saw what was the big deal with that breed.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Buffy….Lol!
F/A Ramsey says
One more thing I forgot to mention about Pilot drinking yesterday. Heard this a few times, “thank God it’s not my leg tomorrow” or something similar. Pilots where I worked alternated each leg (flt.) and who was in charge of flying the plane. They would do this the entire trip, with the Captain flying the first leg of let’s say a 4 day trip the alternating of the next 12 flights. Whoever was not flying that leg was for the most part an observer and read the check lists……….So if there was only one leg or flight the next day and it was not your turn to fly the plane, the chances of pushing 8 hours between the Bottle and Throttle rule were more likely.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I have a link you will LOVE tomorrow….I hope the thought leader does not get a hold of it…as lately he has been grabbing every onboard incident he can find anywhere to give a break to the pumping posts.
If not noticed, I will post it here and I GUARANTEE IT you will have LOTS to say.
F/A Ramsey says
Did you take advantage of the VirginWine.com deal combined with Amex offer (ends 1/3)? 13,000 AS miles and 30 bottles of wine for a total $110. Tax free and delivered.
Thanks, God Save The Points/Gilbert
Brenton says
Two questions.
1. Can you do the 5,000 virgin points offer twice?
2. Is it just cumulative spend through virgin wines that triggers the credit? I would assume it has to be since when I looked at it you couldn’t add multiple packages to the cart.
STROKIN FOR MILES says
did the order twice with same credit card to get the Amex $50 off $150/ BUT… did 1 order for my Virgin and 1 order with wife’s Virgin acct.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Oh THAT Gilbert dude who keeps DOING that in his HEADLINES and probably has TPG’s pic next to his BED.
Thought about it…just went back to Feedly…. #sad

Suing SPG 401k because a target fund has a 25bps expense fee? Cant imagine they’ll win that one.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
There has been a flurry of these lawsuits by greedy lawyers looking for…a settlement. Think ambulance chasing. Some of them are legit, many are not. But it has had a greater good effect. Sponsors of these plans are finally paying attention, no doubt most plan fees are still way too high!
The funniest one was by Edward Jones employees suing their company for this lol.
Sam says
Is ‘Strokin’ for Miles’ an affiliate of ‘Head for Points’?
