I am in a major catch up mode…This post is about my experience trying to use my US Airways lounge pass and UberX, going back to Mile Nerd’s day after letter, get the skinny on the Citi AA Cards, learn how to use UA Miles with non-alliance partners, get up to date on the Blue Cash card massacre, link to Instagram travel photographers, and finish with the best personal finance articles that will make you a better and smarter person! Unless you are one of those who are permanently angry or something, woohoo!

MILES/POINTS
Something you may not be aware of and I learned the hard way. I had a US Airways lounge pass I used in Charlotte and was guesting a colleague. Only to be told “you must have cancelled your card”. Which I did. But I was shocked the lounge staff would actually know that. And this is why you make small talk. She felt pity on us and let us in anyway. Phew! Reader said that the same thing happens with the United Mileage Explorer passes! Please be aware so you are not as unpleasantly surprised as me!
I used UberX a couple of times in my recent trip to Charlotte. Much cheaper rides than Uber Black! And very casual experience, you sit in the front and drivers have been pretty cool. Actually, my drivers all have been immigrants (Nigeria, Ethiopia, Pakistan) so we talked a lot about the World Cup! Ride to the Detroit Airport (with 15% tip included) was between $35 and $40. Thank you to readers who signed for Uber with my REFERRAL link (in CAPS because I earn FREE rides and you earn $30 too!<———Strategic placement of exclamation mark next to a number with $ in front, yes! And down with the Las Vegas Taxi Mafia!).
A review of the Charlotte Westin may follow soon. I am waiting to see if a promise will materialize. I still can’t believe the wifi would not work anywhere in the hotel but worked just fine down the street at the Panera and the Hilton!

Cool ANZ plane! And that is definitely the best “Between Two Ferns” ever.

@ Andrew: Yeah, but “hate sells” lol. Yeah, I know what you mean….getting a little bit repetitive…but someone must warn and save the newbies 🙂
@ tv7: Better than bronze!
@ Grant: You can do better, I know it.
@ J; Haha, yeah right. Not much of a deal actually. Amex targets me, I said yes, two trips, done w/ min spend, collect.
@smittytabb: Air New Zealand had the best paint jobs by far! And that segment with Bradley Pitts was just one of the most brilliantly funniest moments..”give me your two sperms”, “doctors without diplomas” the spit & the gum stuck in the eye “that was my last piece”….Everyone watch it!

I just used two United explorer club passes and cancelled my card over 6 months ago. They didn’t meantion anything and scanned as they normally do.

Now that you mention it, I think it may have been AA lounge passes that reader talked about…can’t remember when/where…happens a lot more the older I get!

The Free-quent Flyer’s post and Saverocity Matt’s bickering with the former FTG (on FT) remind me of the old punchline:

And: United lounge passes (and I think AA passes) don’t have your frequent flier number marked on them; US passes do. I would guess that’s how they were able to track your cardholder status.
