These guys are on a giant roll…I need to check out my AA cards and see how I can play this change to a World Elite Mastercard from a regular Mastercard. They have been gathering dust anyway and will forego the retention so I can get the new “product” soon!

Time to register for the latest Marriott Rewards Megabonus promotion for stays between September 15 to January 15, 2016. Several offers out there, you don’t know which one you are going to get until you register. I got double points starting with the second stay which is absolutely meaningless to me! Hilton HHonors is also out with its Fall promotion. It is titled “Triple Your Trip”. Triple points for weekend nights and double points for weekday nights between September 1 and December 31, 2015. Doing paid stays and not being on top of latest promotions and not maximizing your hotel guest loyalty points should be declared a crime! And guess this! If you are a new Hilton HHonors member, you get 2,000 additional points with first stay. Wow, the generosity of this program is unbelievable #snarky
It was my turn to call US Bank to inquire about my missing 7.5k Club Carlson points and (most importantly) the free night worldwide e-cert. The wait on hold was only 33 minutes this time. I was not given the 7.5k points even…instead I was told a “specialist” will call me within 48 hours. Rep also added it may be more than 48 hours due to the volume of calls about this. Hmmm, I think I will likely be calling them next week it sounds like 🙂 Update: TBB reader “OtherSteve” DID receive a call back and was told an e-cert is coming eventually…after 8-10 weeks (so the card is not immediately canceled after using the free night!). We shall see #developing

India has a serious problem with ghost airports. This sentence is mind boggling: “More than half of the 100-odd domestic-only airports operated by the Airports Authority of India did not see a single scheduled flight this year, according to Reuters.”

This farmer in China built a bank branch and started “deposit services” only! Hey, talk about scaling it up. Amazing what people do for money sometimes. Shaking my head. “A counterfeit RMB100 note was seen glued to a window to warn people not to use fake money.” It operated for more than a year! I think a bullet will soon be deposited into the back of his head #justice.

I was thinking the same thing. Boarding Area is the only site I have encountered that on, and it’s widespread. Either they are unable to stop it, which is worrying, or they don’t care because the ad money is so good, which is also worrying.
Yeah, it is probably all of the above. My guess is it did not do as expected to bring in traffic.

Woah, Chris Elliott is terrible. A commenter exchanges emails with Chris, and the latter publishes the exchange along with gratuitous information about who the commenter is, with links. Chris justifies doing so, but does not explain his motives, by saying he provides helpful services for very little and everyone should be grateful. What a donkey.

@Ramsey – yo, prison rape is a shame and an embarassment in a supposedly civilized society. We should be better than that.
If prison rape is such a valuable correctional tool, the law should officially make prison rape part of the sentence.
Otherwise, we should perhaps try to minimize the phenomenon.
