TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
I finally booked my trip TO Iran after procrastinating for a long time. I had already booked my return from Iran months ago! I burned 80,000 United miles to fly Business Class Detroit to Chicago on United to Istanbul to Tehran on Turkish Airlines. Taxes & fees were a killer, they amounted to $11.10 ouch 🙂 I felt inspired by the failed coup in Turkey to finally go ahead and pull the trigger!
I am going to keep my blog light on weekends as traffic goes way down as it should be with most of you enjoying the summer outdoors. Right?
If you had any doubts of the new face of American Airlines now that CEO Parker is really underway…American Airlines AAdvantage Cuts Partner Earnings By Up to 75% & Partner Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQD). Ouch, it is not pretty. If you are a leisure traveler doing mileage runs so you can get upgraded…you should seek help. What? You don’t get it yet? Here is how to Compare the Miles Earned on American vs Alaska Airlines. Which may lead Alaska to cut them more…A cascading elite status chaser bloodbath! If you still don’t get it, maybe this one will clear it up once and for all: More Frequent Fliers Pay for a First Class Upgrade That Once Was Free. #theend
A fantastic personal finance blog post: This Will End Badly. A must read. You are welcome. Some excerpts below #educating
The truth is that listening to the advice of fear-mongers has been an absolute disaster for your portfolio returns. They are right every now and then, just like a broken clock is right. There are bear markets and recessions that come with enigmatic frequency and leave just as suddenly. There is no perfect way to predict those entries and exits.
…if you haven’t had the fortitude to invest when things are relatively calm and showing meaningful trends, what makes you think you are going to hit the nail on the head if this thing does collapse? It always looks 100x worse on the way down and especially right before the markets turn higher again. That’s the nature of the game and why investing can be so frustrating.
There is no easy or guaranteed road to success from here. However, there are time-tested principles that will serve you well with enough patience and foresight to let them work. The first step is realizing what you have been doing may not be in your best interests and taking a proactive approach to changing that thought process.

“When life gives you lemons, quickly take them all home, because lemons have gotten really expensive due to global warming and inflation.”
“Dance like it won’t end up on YouTube. Eat like your metabolism hasn’t slowed considerably since your twenties. Love like that bastard didn’t end up with all your Radiohead CDs.”
“Life is about the journey, not the destination. (The destination for everyone is death.)”
“Live simply. Unless you have Amazon Prime, in which case it’s too late for you not to buy that Himalayan salt lamp.”
And I leave you with this…Meanwhile, at TBB World Shedquarters

First post of the day outside TBB management.
Got delayed reading Drew’s pre-amble to “What’s Next”. Should be interesting-I ‘use-re-use’ too in my own way.
Stay tuned.

Yes, that “thing” whatever it is sounds ……. a whole lot like nothing Until we know what it is. I speculate that it’s sufficiently funded to support multiple salaries including a COO Kellogg MBA graduate and that alone is >$200k a year.
It’s probably not reselling!

Whatever it is, I hope it doesn’t require extensive writing. As an academic, this guy sucks at writing… holy crap.
What he writes about his good, but is writing is bad…

And I didn’t proofread my comment… fml…

I couldn’t agree more!! I find his stuff hard to read, but he does have some good ideas. Nice error lol

sorry, don’t trust this guy anymore. He’s very rude, but will sell himself as some kind of
“saving the world” dude, “don’t use plastic bags, but use my stuff made from seaweed instead” or something… + new connection to Daraius. Thanks, but no thanks.

Far from the exalted podium:
1. Geez I really dislike reading the AA/AS head-to-head comparison. Maybe we should start a pool as to when AS devalues YUGELY. Easily the best North American based “loyalty” program now — can fly AA/DL, still earn decent miles, redeem on real carriers at reasonable rates. Tick-tock tick-tock…
2. Never followed TravelisFree — because it isn’t. Read his post (only because Buzz said to read it!) until I got to bow-tie/circle/arrow man and stopped.
3. WandrMe’s SO has a post up about their recent (last week) Faroe Islands trip: http://www.linneahartsuyker.com/2016/07/the-faroe-islands-part-1/ (is it ok to post links Buzz? I know others do but I am a NuuBee here)
Last day of mid-year school vacations here — time to hit the airways and change my point of view! #TBBon

I think Alaska Airlines will do another rounds of “trimming”.
Ok to link here if relevant. No links from blogs in the Ignore list will EVER be allowed…proudly 🙂
Wife and daughter are home! Ann Arbor restaurants to hit recession because of my absence!
I am not making any more comments on Drew’s blog. I guess he likes it that way. If I had a CSP click for every link to his site or time I praised his blog I would be a Titan! Oh well, the life of a blog critic I guess.
TBBon everyone. Be respectful, be constructive and enjoy yourselves.
Nice post tomorrow coming. At least I think so. But if you don’t like it, don’t stay silent. I WANT to have your negative feedback. If you only had positive feedback…something is wrong and would never improve!

Hey Buzz.
I don’t know most of those travel blog personalities you guys discuss but that’s OK.
Just checking in.
